 A housewife, Mrs Florence Njideka Chukwuma has been arrested by the police at State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba over an alleged attempt on the life of her husband, Chinedu over a house property in Lagos State, southwestern Nigeria.

Florence allegedly bought a gallon of petrol which she poured on Chinedu’s body, she then took a lighter to set him ablaze during a quarrel.

However, before she could achieve her goal, Chinedu jumped fence and escaped, suffering injuries as a result of the attack.

Bola Ige’s Family Scholarship For Indigent Students In Osun, Oyo

The family of the late Chief Bola Ige, former Attorney General of the Federation, has announced a N29 million scholarship for indigent students of Osun and Oyo states.

According to the son of the late former attorney general, Mr Olumuyiwa Ige, 66 students have been selected from public schools across the states.

Ige, a former Commissioner in the state, said the students would go through a competitive selection process to choose the best of them.

He stated that the scholarship is intended for students in the senior and junior secondary school categories.

Fuel queues grow longer in Lagos, Ogun, others

The fuel supply situation, which showed slight improvement in recent days, has taken a turn for the worse as queues grew longer on Sunday at the few petrol stations selling the product in Lagos and Ogun states.

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, had recently said petrol queues would clear in Abuja and Lagos by April 6 or 7, adding that the scarcity would subside in other parts of the country, including Kano, Katsina, Port Harcourt and Warri, by that weekend.

The world’s biggest oil producers have failed to reach agreement at a meeting aimed at freezing output and reassuring markets that a recent recovery in prices could be sustained.

Sunday’s talks in Qatar’s capital saw the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) – and, unusually, other producers – trying to agree that average daily crude oil production in the coming months would not exceed levels recorded in January.

Soldier killed during Rivers election buried amid tears

 Emotion ran high on Friday as Lance Corporal Adegboyega Adebayo, one of the two soldiers killed by hoodlums two days before the Rivers State rerun election, was buried in the Iyesi area of Ogun State.

During the burial, tearful parents, brothers and friends of the 34-year-old soldier, who was shot dead on the sea in the Abonema, Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State on March 17, decried lack of concern from both the Rivers State and the federal governments.

Two friends, 12 year old Arandari Paola Garcia and 17-year-old Mariana 'N' who were camping with their families on an isolated beach in Mexico, fell to their deaths after climbing onto dangerous rocks to take selfies. Police say the friends who were from Mesa De Otay in Tijuana Mexico wanted to take pictures of the sea and climbed on to rocks at Rosarito in Baja California to take selfies.

Well, they have now found out that the girl wasn't killed by her brother as it was claimed yesterday but by her father who ran away after the incident occurred.

Quick thinking police officer saves a family of 6 from a woman who wanted them dead

A woman, Lauretta Ehon flagged down members of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of Lagos State Police Command who were patrolling the axis of Ogudu Ori-Oke Ogudu at about 5:30pm over the weekend and told them that some armed robbers just snatched her 2012 Toyota Camry.

Immediately, Police Inspector, Christian Onawona who was with his men responded to her plea and gave chase to the said stolen car. Unfortunately, they got stuck in traffic so the Inspector alighted from the official car and took a bike in order to give chase and capture the alleged robbers.

PTDF breaks cultural barrier, produces Katsina’s first female pilot

Ruqayya Suleiman from Bakori Local government area of Katsina State has become the first female pilot from the state.
 She is one of the 15 pilots trained in South Africa under the full scholarship programme of the Petroleum Trust Development Fund (PTDF) as international certified commercial pilots.


According to Raqayya's father, her dream of becoming a pilot could not have come true without the scholarship and emotional support from the PTDF. Today, a joyful Mr. Suleiman is excited that his young daughter has broken the cultural barrier that often hold girls from her region back from acquiring higher education.
