7 killed after suspected Herdsmen attack community in Zamfara

No fewer than seven people were confirmed dead with many others injured after suspected herdsmen launched an attack on Madada and Ruwan Tofa villages in Zamfara state yesterday May 4th. Confirming the attacks, the state police command's spokesperson, Sanusi Amiru, said a group of suspected herdsmen attacked Madada village to steal petrol from the residents while another group attacked Ruwan Tofa village, killing some people. Both incidents recorded high number of injured persons The police say they are working to restore law and order in both villages.

Operatives of the Lagos state police Rapid Response Squad, RRS, while on patrol routine within Lagos metropolis on Wednesday, May 4th 2016, at about 3:00 am, intercepted a vehicle with registration number SMK 184 DQ, laden with weapons. The occupants of the vehicle, upon seeing RRS men, suddenly alighted from the car, took to their heels and abandoned the vehicle. The recovered weapons were; Iron cutter, 3 brand new cutlasses, 2 fez caps, 3 torches, dagger, Mobile phone and pieces of clothe.

Photos: Troops carry out special operation, rescue women and children abducted by Boko Haram

Troops of 7 Division based on information received, conducted a special operation at Chingurimi, Walasa and Masa villages which were believed to have large concentration of abducted women and children were held hostages by the Boko Haram terrorists on Wednesday 4th May 2016.

The troops killed quite a number of Boko Haram terrorists and rescued 17 women, an old man and 24 children at the area.

They also recovered 1 AK-47 rifle, 6 rounds of 7.62mm, 295 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO), 12 Dane Guns, 21 unserviceable mobile telephone handsets and one serviceable as well as150 different SIM cards.

#2016Budget: FG Unveils 34 Priority Projects

President Muhammadu Buhari will today receive the clean copy of the 2016 budget from the National Assembly, just as the federal government has unveiled 34 strategic priority projects for this year.

Speaking to State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, minister of state for budget and national planning, Zainab Ahmed, alongside the minister of information, Lai Mohammed, minister of state for industry, trade and investment, Aisha Abubakar, minister of state for foreign affairs, Khadija Abba Ibrahim, stated they discussed the strategic implementation plan for the 2016 budget.

Bodies of 8 persons who lost their lives in an accident yesterday along Lagos - Ibadan Express way while on a mission to represent Kano in the National Quiz Competition in Lagos, arrived Kano this evening. The students and bodies were received at Kano International Airport by the State Governor, Dr.Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and other state officials.

Former Commissioner of Police to be arraigned by EFCC over N10m fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) will tomorrow May 5th arraign a retired Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Sambo, before a Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja on a one-count charge bordering on criminal breach of trust and obtaining N10m by false pretence.

Buhari in closed door meeting with Saraki, Dogara, APC leaders

President Buhari was in a closed door meeting with Senate President Bukola Saraki, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, Chairman of APC, John Odigie-Oyegun, Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha and other APC leaders this evening. It's not certain what the meeting was about but state house correspondents believe the meeting could be about the unsigned 2016 budget.

Photo: Metropolitan Police make two new arrests for the 2011 murder of Adeniyi Shode


Police investigating the murder of a young man five years ago has made two new arrests. The arrests today, Wednesday May 4, were made in the investigation into the fatal stabbing of Adeniyi Lateef Shode (known as Aden or Enda - pictured above) in Northoit in 2011.

Detectives from the Met's Homicide and Major Crime Command (HMCC) arrested a 23-year-old man and a 24-year-old man on suspicion of murder.
