OBJ congratulates GMB, asks him to fight corruption

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has congratulated the Presidential candidate of the All progressives congress Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd,,) on his victory in the presidential poll, charging him to fight corruption and carry out reforms in different sectors.
obj_gmb

The congratulatory message was made available to our correspondent at Abeokuta on Tuesday following Buhari victory in the March 28 presidential election.

Obasanjo, who noted that so much harm had already been done to many national institutions, including the military, however, advised him to be magnanimous in victory.

He said, “With so much harm already done to many national institutions including the military, which proudly nurtured you and me, you will have a lot to do on institution reform – education, healthcare, economy, security, infrastructure, power, youth employment, agri-business, oil and gas, external affairs, cohesiveness of our nation and ridding our land of corruption.

“Your varied and wide experience will undoubtedly stand you in good stead.”

The former president said the country “is blessed with men and women of goodwill, character and virtue across the board that you can mobilise to join hands with you in the reform, repairs and re-direction that will be imperative to put Nigeria back on the fast lane of good governance, unity, cohesiveness, development and progress.”

Obasanjo noted that Buhari’s victory, after three previous unsuccessful attempts, must be a great lesson to himself and for all politicians, particularly in Nigeria.

He said, “For me, the totality of 2015 elections hold many lessons for our democracy and democratisation process, which are both maturing.

“On this occasion, the system has been unnecessarily overheated before and particularly during the campaigns when emphasis was more on trivialities and hate, divisive, undignifying and disrespectful statements and comments rather than on pressing issues requiring attention.

“I know that in victory, you will be magnanimous to start binding the wounds and bitterness occasioned by the campaign and the evil disciples.”

Fayemi congratulates Buhari

Former Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has congratulated the All Progressives Congress Presidential candidate, General Mohammadu Buhari(retd.),  over the party’s victory in the just concluded presidential election, saying the victory signposts a new beginning for Nigeria and Nigerians.
fayemi

“History has just been made in our dear country,” declared Fayemi, who hailed Buhari’s victory over the incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan as a victory for democracy and the Nigerian citizenry.

Fayemi in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Olayinka Oyebode, said that going by the outcome of the election, Nigerians had demonstrated to the entire world their ability and readiness to tow the path of greatness and oneness.

He said, “Nigerians have spoken. They have spoken clearly through their votes. They want a new direction and a new approach to governance and the APC government under the able leadership of General Muhammadu Buhari owes them this and more.”

Saying that a successful election is a sine qua non to an enduring democracy and sustainable development, Fayemi said the emergence of the opposition party after 16 years rule by the Peoples’ Democratic Party marks a significant change in the annals of the country’s political history.

He added that the APC, through the victory, was now saddled with the responsibility of making a meaningful change in the lives of the people as promised during the electioneering.

Fayemi, who chaired the APC national convention that produced  Buhari as the party’s candidate, said Nigerians are the actual winners in the keenly contested election having demonstrated rare courage and determination to effect the change they desired.

Wikipedia updates Orubebe’s profile over attempted poll disruption

Godsday Orubebe’s profile on Wikipedia just got updated that he attempted to disrupt 2015 general election result announcement on March 31.
orubebe

Orubebe, the agent of the Peoples Democratic Party at the announcement of the presidential election in Abuja, had called for the stoppage of the presentation of the results on Tuesday.

Shouting on top of his voice, Orubebe, a former Minister of the Niger Delta Affairs, alleged that INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, had taken side with the All Progressives Congress.

At the venue of the results presentation on Tuesday, the PDP agent shouted, “You sent a committee to Rivers to probe what happened there. We submitted petitions to you about Kano, Jigawa, Katsina but you have not done anything about our complaints. You cannot continue with these results; we will not take it.”

As Jega tried to calm him down, asking to be given a chance to respond, Orubebe shouted, “Mr. Jega, You cannot continue, go to your office. You are partial. We don’t have any confidence in you. We will not allow this. You cannot continue. You must stop the results.”

Workers, security operatives desert PDP head office

The national headquarters of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party wore a mournful look on Tuesday following the defeat of its presidential candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan, by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari(retd.)

Signs that the party was not favoured to win the elections had earlier emerged on Monday when most of the employees of the party failed to turn up for duty.

Its Staff Park, located close to the national secretariat at Wuse Zone 5, Abuja, which was usually full of cars by its employees, was devoid of the usual vehicular traffic.

Also, only a handful of the  majority of the security guards, who are made up of policemen, civil defence corps and private guards, were at their duty posts.

On Tuesday, as the results were being announced by the Chairman of the Independent National Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, employees of the party gathered to discuss its possible outcome.

“We have squandered our goodwill,” one of the members of the National Working Committee of the party told our correspondent in confidence.

It was however not clear if the party would call an emergency NWC meeting to discuss its defeat by the APC.

Efforts made to speak with the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Chief Olisa Metuh, were unsuccessful. succeed.

We’ll Be Magnanimous In Victory – Amaechi

Gov. Rotimi Amaechi, Director-General of All Progressives Congress’ (APC) Presidential Campaign Organisation, said on Tuesday that the party would be magnanimous in victory when it takes over power on May 29.
Rotimi-Amaechi

Amaechi, who said this at the party’s secretariat in Abuja, noted that the government of Muhammadu Buhari would be all-inclusive. “After the announcement, it will become clearer to the nation that APC has won the election and we will be magnanimous in victory. “We cherish this victory so much but it is not only about celebration, it is about the seriousness of governance and you must see the difference between us the current government.

“If we say there is incompetence, we must show competence; If we say there was corruption, we must show that we will not be corrupt. “If we say that people were denied their basic right, we must protect the right of people. “If we say there was impunity, we must govern by the rule of law and once we show that, you will see the basic difference between us and the current government’’, Amaechi said. He noted that the victory of the party at the presidential election was historic as it was the first time in the history of the country’s democracy that an incumbent federal government would be defeated.

“The victory is historical to me. I will be proud to tell my children that for the first time in the history of Nigeria, the opposition party was able to rout the government and party in power. “We were able to present a different picture of what life looks like which is giving the people the courage to confront the current government on corruption and confront the fact that people were hungry. “This is because they don’t go to the same market as other Nigerians go.

“They have the kind of funds they want and they eat the kind of food they want to eat but Nigerians were dying of hunger. “We want to let Nigerians know that Boko Haram was not about religion alone, there was element of poverty and ignorance’’, he added. Amaechi also said that the incoming government would have to deal with falling standard of education and unemployment in the north and in the south. He added that the Buhari administration would make Nigerians to understand that religion was never an issue in Nigeria. (NAN)

News bits filtering in from our Aso Rock correspondent do not bode well for members of staff at the Presidential villa, as the 1st Lady, Dame Patience is said to have thrown a fit at Otuoke after hearing that President Jonathan lost to Buhari at the Aso Rock Polling Unit. She then proceeded to sack every member of the Kitchen staff via phone call.
dame-patience-kitchen

The Kitchen Staff have since packed their bags and left the villa but they remained defiant and insist they “did the right thing”.

“I voted Buhari because I am tired of being told my cooking is not good enough” said Initimi George, the Chief Cook.

“Everytime you cook something they must complain. President will say Salt is too much. Dame will say Pepper is too small. Everyday. We are tired. We want Change… I have already started learning how to cook Masa and Fura de nono because Sai Buhari will win” said Akpan Effiong, a junior cook at the Presidential Villa.

President Jonathan lost at the Aso Rock PU, scoring 595 votes to Buhari’s 613.

Vote collation is still ongoing across the country. Dame Patience is also expected back in Aso Rock today to fire everyone else who voted against her husband.

Fayose praises Buhari, urges Nigerians to accept election results #NigeriaDecides

The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has urged Nigerians to accept the outcome of Saturday’s presidential election in good faith, saying; “the election result is the will of God and Nigerians, and all lovers of peace, progress and development of Nigeria must accept it”.
FAYOSE-IN-COURT.FEDERAL-HIGH-COURT-ADO-EKITI-035-e1412150007600

Mr. Fayose, in a statement by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, hailed the resilience and commitment of President Goodluck Jonathan and Mohammadu Buhari.

The governor said the election results should not been seen as victory or loss for any political party, adding that, “To me, Nigerians and democracy won.”

He praised Nigerians for believing in the democratic process, adding that “by this election, Nigerians have shown that Democracy has come to stay in the country”.

The governor said, “I salute Nigerians, especially the great people of Ekiti State.

“I salute President Jonathan for laying the most solid foundation for democracy in Nigeria. And I salute Major General Buhari for being a resilience and dogged fighter.

“I urge Nigerians, irrespective of their ethic, religious and political affiliation to respect the outcome of the election in the interest of peace, progress and development of the country.

“Nigeria as a country is greater than any individual or group and it is my plea that no one should do anything to rock the boat of peace in the country.”

APC protests alleged inflated poll result in Asaba

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress in Delta State, on Tuesday staged a protest at the gate of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Asaba, alleging manipulation of the results of the presidential election in the state.

gov

The group, led by the party’s governorship candidate in the state, Mr. O’tega Emerhor, stormed the INEC office at about 11.20am and were barred from entering the premises, where the collation of results from the local government areas was still going on.

The APC leaders, who chanted victory songs for the party’s presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, queried why it was taking so long to conclude collation of the results from Delta State, when results from most states had already been announced.

Emerhor claimed that the announcement Delta result was being delayed because the figures were being inflated in some local government areas of the state in favour of the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan.

He said, “There are two sets of results in some local government areas. Isoko South, Isoko North, Warri South-West, Ughelli North and Ethiope West have two sets of results.

“Our agent inside called us to tell us that the result that is being collated here is different from the results that were originally distributed to us. We don’t even accept the first set of results because they were fabricated. What we are talking about now is second degree inflation.

“This is not an allegation, our agent told us that he had reported to the state collation officer and he told him to fill an incident form. That means they want to take the inflated result to Abuja and we are saying we will not accept it.”

In his reaction, the PDP’s state agent for the presidential election, Funkemeke Solomon, denied the claims and commended the INEC for conducting the election with “integrity and transparency.”

Solomon, who is the state Commissioner for Works, said, “I believe they are entitled to their opinion. Section 131 of the Electoral Act stipulates that anybody that is not satisfied with the conduct of the election should go to tribunal.”

Ukraine’s Right Sector Leader Wants Donbas Residents Deported

Dmitri Yarosh, Rada MP and leader of Ukraine’s Right Sector, has declared that the unruly residents of eastern Ukraine must be deported and deprived of their civil rights before a program of ‘affectionate Ukrainianization’ can begin.

dmitri_Iarosh

Dmitri Iarosh – now “advisor” to the Ukrainian Minister of Defense

In an interview for Ukrainian newspaper Obosrevatel published on Sunday, Ukrainian Right Sector leader and Rada deputy Dmitri Yarosh stated that the unruly residents of eastern Ukraine should be deported and deprived of their civil rights.

Yarosh noted that much of Donbas is populated by ‘Sovoks’, an insulting slang term in Ukrainian and Russian derived from the word ‘Soviet’. Yarosh stated that the region “is populated by Sovoks –real Sovoks. And they should be deported. We have to deal with those who do not want to live by the rules and the laws of the state in a very harsh manner. This includes deportation, the deprivation of civil rights, and so on. Without force, it will not be possible to do anything with the region, to turn the tide so to speak.”

The Right Sector leader added that the region’s “unruly” residents must also be dealt with. “If we get rid of the unruly ones, everything will be fine, quiet and peaceful. And then, of course, a program of affectionate Ukrainianization can begin.” The MP noted that “spiritual rebirth” can begin only if authorities act in a consistent and forceful manner.

Yarosh cited Ukrainian authorities’ response to events in Konstantinovka, Donetsk, controlled by the Ukrainian military, where an inebriated Ukrainian armored vehicle driver recently crashed into a crowd of people and crushed and killed an eight-year-old girl in a hit and run incident, leading to riots in the streets.

“The events in Konstantinovka are an example of what I mean. If we had shown even a little bit of weakness…Right from the beginning a whole bunch of ‘heroes’ began crawling out of the woodwork, using the tragedy in their own separatist interests. And when our guys came out and began shooting into the air and arresting the instigators of riots, everything ceased at once. This is the rule,” Yarosh explained.

The MP noted that in his view, there are still many “real patriots” of Ukraine in the region, and that the present anti-Kiev attitudes are the result of many years of Russian propaganda and the removal of genuinely Ukrainian spiritual values. Yarosh explained that the “guys from Donetsk and Lugansk regions” fighting for the Ukrainian army “should become the [new] elite, on whose basis a qualitatively new society can be built…And those Vatnik [slang for Russians blindly loving their country], criminal oligarchic attitudes sitting in the minds of ordinary people for one reason or another must be removed.”

The extreme nationalist leader noted that he has accepted the president’s invitation to come work in the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, adding that he has chosen to do so on a volunteer basis.Speaking about the Ukrainian army’s recent losses on the battlefield, Yarosh recalled that “we faced a route near Ilovaisk…On the one hand, we have learned to fight, with morale at a high level. But things are very bad when a pride of lions is led by sheep. They cannot lead us to victory, and only roll us back…Speaking about the current situation on the front, our forces are still threatened by several encirclements. And I don’t know, again, whether the sheep will react to this, or whether they are playing some sort of geopolitical game.”

The Right Sector is a far-right wing Ukrainian nationalist party. In January and February of 2014, the movement’s members participated heavily in fighting with Ukrainian police in the streets of Kiev, and in the capture of government buildings during the Euro-Maidan coup. Since April, they have taken the lead in the crushing of protest movements in eastern Ukraine, and enforcing the new order of the revolutionary government. In addition, they have also been involved in Kiev’s military operation in Donbas. Right Sector’s Ukrainian Volunteer Corps includes two battalions operating in eastern Ukraine, as well as eight reserve battalions throughout the rest of the country.

In November 2014, the Russian Supreme Court declared the Right Sector to be an extremist organization, and its activity has been banned on the territory of the Russian Federation. Earlier, in March, 2014, Russian authorities issued an arrest warrant against Dmitri Yarosh for incitement of terrorism, and for his organization’s combat operations in the First Chechen War against the Russian military.

#NigeriaDecides: Shocking Video exposes INEC officials colluding with PDP to rig elections

A shocking video recorded for PM in Polling Units 009, 010 and 011 at Oniong West Ward 1, Onna Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, has exposed officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission colluding with supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party in the area to rig the presidential and national assembly election in favour of the party.
inec_rigging_elections_in_akwaibom

The ugly incident happened in the village square – Ikot Eko Ibon village – within the full glare of villagers.

Former Secretary to the Federal Government, Ufot Ekaette, and wife, Eme Ekaette, a former senator, are from the area.

But they did not show up for voting on Saturday. Some of those who spoke to PM in the area said the Ekaettes may have stayed away from voting because of their disappointment with the PDP and Governor Godswill Akpabio’s leadership style.

INEC officials were done with voters’ accreditation as early as 1:30PM in the three units, but refused to commence voting until some PDP chieftains arrived around 4pm.

The PDP chieftains, who apparently were working in agreement with the INEC officials in the units, immediately ordered all the voters to move away from the polling centre.

In the midst of the confusion that ensued, gunshot was fired within the polling centre, prompting the voters who were mostly old men and women from the village to run away to safety.

The PDP supporters then had a field day thumb-printing ballot papers, under the supervision of INEC officials.

Security officials were not deployed in the three units. It is unclear if it is deliberate to allow the PDP supporters execute their plans without molestation.

One of the INEC officials in the units told PM he and his colleagues were under pressure from their ‘boss’ to assist the PDP win the elections, but didn’t however explain who the boss was.

The PDP governorship candidate, Udom Emmanuel, is from Onna Local Government Area where the rigging captured on the video took place.

In other parts of Akwa Ibom state, especially in areas considered as APC strongholds, there were reported cases of non-availability of election result sheets at the polling units.

The APC governorship candidate, Umana Umana objected to INEC accreditation and election taking place in his ward at Ndiya, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, because election result sheets were not available.

The Akwa Ibom state chapter of the APC has petitioned INEC chairman, Attahiru Jega, calling for fresh election in the state.

On Monday, the APC governorship candidate led a peaceful protest to INEC office in Uyo calling for the cancellation of the poll, describing it as a farce.

The protesters stormed the INEC office while the collation of the presidential election result was going on.

Mr. Umana said the party would not accept the results of Saturday’s elections held in the state.

He said the party, after a review of field reports on the elections across the state, had come to the conclusion that the elections be cancelled.

The People’s Democratic Movement’s candidate for the House of Representatives (Ikot Ekpene Federal Constituency), Anny Asikpo, has made similar allegation of election result sheets not being available during the election.

“We have 365 polling units, but as I speak to you I have not seen nor know how the result sheets for yesterday’s election look like because everything was carted away by the PDP to an unknown destination. There was no election in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District,” Mr. Asikpo told a local radio station in Akwa Ibom State, Planet FM, on telephone during a live phone-in programme on Sunday.

Creative Lie-cense: Reuters Accused of Faking MH17 Testimony.

Lugansk Region resident Pytor Fedotov says that the Reuters news agency falsified his testimony on the missile launch which brought down Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17, RT reports.

 mh17

In an exclusive story published earlier this month featuring what Reuters said was new evidence on the downing of the Malaysia Airlines plane, reporter Anton Zverev wrote that “when interviewed by Reuters, Fedotov, the witness who described the ‘wiggling’ rocket’, at first said on camera that it was fired from territory held by the Ukrainian army. Later, off camera, he said it was launched from a nearby rebel area. Asked why he had originally said the opposite, he said it was because he was afraid of the rebels.”

When later contacted by RT, the village resident said that Zverev had been “less than accurate” with his testimony.

“When we talked about the Boeing on camera, I explained everything as I saw it. The things that I allegedly said off-camera, all this nonsense, was made up by the journalist himself. It’s all lies, because off-camera, we never discussed the Boeing, and just spoke about life, about the current situation, so to speak.” Fedotov told RT.

The Lugansk resident added that Zverev later contacted him to ask if the he had gotten in trouble for speaking with the journalist.

“The first thing that he asked was whether I had gotten in trouble. I was really surprised. Why would I be in trouble if I told him about things as I saw them? And only when my friends called me up and told me that some channel was airing footage which noted that I said one thing on camera and the opposite without the camera did I understand why he was asking me this question.”

Stating that the so-called off-camera testimony was merely conjecture, Fedotov stated that he doesn’t understand why the journalist would fiddle with his testimony. “Maybe he was doing it for his own benefit…I really don’t know what his aim was, but it looks to me like a provocation.”

RT noted that its requests for comment from Reuters on the controversy have not been responded to.

Assad: Turkey actively supporting ISIL (terrorist group) in Syria

Syrian President Bashar Al Assad accused Turkey of intentionally ignoring terrorists of the self-proclaimed Islamic State as they attempt to cross the border between the two countries into Syria.
assad

During an interview with a US TV channel, Assad warned that the self-proclaimed Islamic State is expanding its reach in Syria, and that is in no small part due to Erdogan. Labeling the Turkish Prime Minister as a “Muslim Brotherhood fanatic,” Assad accused him of not only failing to prevent the flow of would-be Islamic State terrorists from Turkey to Syria, but of actively supporting the terrorist group.

When asked if he believed Erdogan could stop the infiltration of terrorists into Syria, Assad responded, “Yeah, of course. Definitely. He doesn’t only ignore the terrorists from coming to Syria. He supports them, logistically and militarily. Directly. On a daily basis.”

Assad additionally referred to Erdogan as “somebody who’s suffering from political megalomania,” explaining that his Turkish counterpart “thinks that he is becoming the sultan of the new era of the 21st century.”

Turkey has been the subject of serious international scrutiny for its failure in preventing would-be terrorists – many from Europe and the US – from travelling into Syria and joining the ranks of the Islamic State, and several other terrorist groups operating in the war-torn country. A Human Rights Watch report released in October 2013 accused Turkish authorities of allowing foreigners to enter the country to join the fight against Assad.

Palestinian militants of the Islamic Jihad group march during their military exercises 10,000 Would-Be EU Jihadis Slipping Through Turkey’s Borders  While Turkish officials have repeatedly said that they are doing all they can to secure the 500-mile-long border, the rising number of foreigners crossing into Syria seems to indicate that the the country has become the preferred transit route for would-be terrorists. In January, the head of Europol, Europe’s police organization, said that as many as 5,000 Europeans have joined the fighting in Syria.

For their part, Turkish officials have rejected accusations of allowing fighters into Syria, and instead, redirected the blame to their European counterparts for not doing enough to prevent their citizens from travelling to the war-zone.

Last month, it was also revealed that the country was treating an Islamic State commander in a hospital near the border. A statement was released by Denizli province Governor’s office, confirming that the commander, who was a Turkish citizen, had full rights to health benefits in his country and that “Judicial procedures regarding his injury were carried out when he crossed into Turkey from Syria.” Last September, Turkish daily Aydinlik reported the government has opened a 75-bed capacity to treat jihadists injured while fighting in Syria.

Assad discussed several other issues in the interview, including the role of other parties such as Russia, the US, and Saudi Arabia in the conflict. He additionally expressed an openness to reaching out to the US, saying “We are always open…We always wanted to have good relations with the United States.”

Gov. Amaechi imposes dusk-to-dawn curfew on Port Harcourt

The Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has declared dusk-to-dawn curfew on Port Harcourt, the state capital, hours after the Independent National Electoral Commission announced the result of the presidential and National Assembly elections in the state.
gov

In a terse statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, George Feyi, the governor said the curfew will hold from 7p.m. to 6a.m.

“The curfew will continue till further notice,” a part of the statement said.

The declaration of the curfew comes amidst heightened tension occasioned by the conduct of last Saturday’s election in the state.

Mr. Amaechi and the All Progressives Congress had boycotted the polls over the failure of INEC to supply result sheets to many polling units especially in the party strongholds.

But the elections continued despite the boycott and the result of both the presidential and National Assembly polls were announced at about 2pm amidst protests and call for cancellation by the APC.

Ogun LG workers begin indefinite strike

Activities in the 20 local government areas of Ogun State were paralysed on Monday as the local government workers began an indefinite strike.
ogun_state

The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, Ogun State branch, had on Friday directed that the entire workforce of the local government areas, Local Government Service Commission and Bureau of Local Government Pensions, to commence an indefinite strike from Monday, March 30.

This directive was contained in a statement issued and signed in Abeokuta, by the state Publicity Secretary of NULGE, Mr. Folarin Osunsanmi, a copy of which was made available to our correspondent.

It stated that the “painful decision” was taken at the state executive council of the union held on Tuesday, March 24.

The union said it decided to embark on the strike following alleged refusal of the state government to implement the agreement reached with it last January.

They said some of the agreements reached include payment of outstanding deductions of workers’ salaries and allowances ‎totalling N1.56bn.

INEC staff arrested in Delta !

A staff the Independent National Electoral Commission was arrested on Monday at the commission’s office in Asaba for violating INEC’s rule on collation of results.
inec1

The INEC staff, who served as the electoral officer for Ndokwa East Local Government Area, was taken away by policemen in a van after he admitted to collating the results for the local government area against the rule of the commission.

The electoral officer came to the state collation centre at INEC, Asaba, to present the result of Ndokwa East without the collation officer for the local government, whose job it is to present the result.

When he was queried by the state Collation Officer, Prof. Bolaji Aluko, the electoral officer said the collation officer for the local government did not show up and due to pressure from party agents, he was forced to collate the results alone in the presence of party agents and security operatives.

The state’s Resident Electoral Commissioner, Anidi Ikowak, who was infuriated by the explanation, declared the results collated by the electoral officer invalid.

The REC said according to INEC’s rule, the electoral officer is not permitted to do the job of the collation officer and faulted the electoral officer for not calling him to report the situation.

Addressing the erring staff, Ikowak said, “There is division of labour in INEC’s activities. The electoral officer cannot stand in the place of the collation officer. If the collation officer did not show up you should have called me and another collation officer would have been nominated from the list of those we have trained. And replacement needs to be approved by me or even the chairman.

“I’m the REC, if this state collation officer did not come I would have reported to Abuja and another one will be sent. I can’t take up that role, I can only assist. So, the result you have collated is invalid.”

Aluko, who is the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Otuoke, asked the electoral officer to submit the result and write a report on the situation, but noted that it had not been officially accepted.

Immediately, the electoral officer was ushered into a police van and driven off.
