Buhari Set To Attend ECOWAS Summit In Senegal on Friday

President Muhammadu Buhari is scheduled to embark on a one-day trip to Dakar, Senegal for the 49th Extra-Ordinary Summit of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).  According to an itinerary exclusively obtained by SaharaReporters, President Buhari will depart Abuja on Friday June 3rd  and return to Abuja on June 4th after the conclusion of the summit. A source at the Presidency told SaharaReporters that the ECOWAS meeting would focus on issues of regional security and economic development.

Pentagon Hopes Its Supergun Will Help to Counter Russia, China

It might not look as impressive as the F-35 fighter jet or the Zumwalt-class destroyer, but US defense officials insist that the Navy's newest weapon, the railgun, will not only become a force to be reckoned with – it will change the way we fight and alter the balance of power in the world as a result. Russian experts remain unconvinced.

The railgun's capabilities are impressive. It can fire a projectile at an initial speed of 4,500 miles an hour, piercing seven steel plates and leave a 5-inch hole, Julian E. Barnes wrote for the Wall Street Journal. The weapon has a maximum range of 125 miles.

Senate: 12 Controversies In 12 Months

1 Emergence of Saraki
The emergence of Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki (APC, Kwara Central), as the Senate President on June 9, 2015, in what was described as an “apparent disregard” to the directive of the All Progressives Congress (APC), laid the foundation of the controversies that has enveloped the upper chamber.

Saraki, a former governor of Kwara State, edged out Senator Ahmad Lawan (APC, Yobe North), the preferred candidate of the APC to clinch the Senate’s plum job, after allegedly resting on the strength of senators of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP). The alliance apparently paved the way for the emergence of Senator Ike Ekweremadu, (PDP, Enugu West), as the Deputy Senate President, a development that dealt a serious blow to the APC’s control
of the upper chamber.

by Paul Craig Roberts
The Saker reports that Russia is preparing for World War III, not because Russia intends to initiate aggression but because Russia is alarmed by the hubris and arrogance of the West, by the demonization of Russia, by provocative military actions by the West, by American interference in the Russian province of Chechnya and in former Russian provinces of Ukraine and Georgia, and by the absence of any restraint from Western Europe on Washington’s ability to foment war.
