Fasehun Asks Yoruba To Confront Fulani Herdsmen


Founder of the Oodua Peoples Congress, Frederick Fasehun, has described the destruction of Chief Olu Falae’s farm in Akure by cattle belonging to Fulani herdsmen as an embarrassment to the Yoruba race, while also calling on the people of Yorubaland to defend their territories.
The farm of Falae, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, was destroyed barely two weeks after the herdsmen kidnapped him and detained him in the bush until a ransom was paid, releasing after four days.

Vigilante shoots self dead while trying to scare thieves


Ogundare Ekundayo who was a member of a neighbourhood watch, was one of a three-man team guarding Osholanke Street, Ebute Meta. Ogundare accidentally shot himself dead while attempting to scare away thieves from the Ebute-Meta area of Lagos State.

It was gathered that around 4am, when they were expected to round off guarding the area,, Ekundayo reportedly shot into the air to scare away any thief that might be in the area as was the vigilante's’ custom.

Assets Declaration: Saraki Must Resign – TUC Insists


The Trade Union Congress, TUC, Enugu State chapter has insisted that Senate President, Bukola Saraki should resign. The Office of the Attorney General of the Federation is prosecuting Saraki for alleged false declaration of assets at the Code of Conduct Bureau. Some organisations, including labour unions, had already called for Saraki’s resignation from office. Chairman of the TUC in Enugu State, Chukwuma Igbokwe, while speaking with newsmen in Enugu maintained that Saraki should step aside, pending the conclusion of his trial at the CCT.

Senate to get ministerial list today

The much awaited ministerial list is said to be ready and will be handed over to Senate president Bukola Saraki during the Senate's resumed plenary session today September 29th. President Buhari is said to have handed the list to his special adviser on National Assembly matters, Senator Ita Enang who will then hand over the list to the senate president. Speculations are rife that names such as former Rivers State Governor, Mr Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, a former president of the Nigerian Bar Association, Rotimi Akeredolu former Army Chief, Lt-Gen. Abdurrahman Dambazzau, Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana are on the list.

Buhari to World leaders: Dismantling safe havens for proceeds of corruption

Following repeated occurrence of stolen funds discovered to have been stashed in foreign banks by corrupt politicians, President Buhari yesterday urged world leaders to dismantle the seeming safe haven in their countries where these funds are secretly being deposited. President Buhari said this while addressing world leaders at the 70th General Assembly of the United Nations.

The Cry Of Nigeria Immigration Pensioneers

The Pensioners under the ages of paramilitary service personnel have cried out over the anomalous capture of paramilitary service personnel into the 2004 contributory service pension act, using our gratuity to pay us (pensioners) pension since we have not contributed enough because we were having less than 10 years to serve. They would have given us our full gratuity and return us to the old pension scheme,instead of using us as experimental guinea pigs. Please our able president, help us to retrieve our gratuity from PENCOM and return us to the old pension scheme. Our people are dying like chicken everyday. Panel To Probe Amaechi Begins Sitting In Port Harcourt

The probe panel set-up to investigate the immediate past administration of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi has said it is not out to witch-hunt anyone.

Chairman of the committee, Justice George Omereji said this during his inaugural address to declare the sitting open.

Justice Omereji said the commission would give room for fair hearing to all parties, adding that all parties had the liberty to contract the services of any legal representative of their choice.

Policemen attached to Area ‘B’ Command, Apapa, Lagos, have arrested a 54-year-old man for allegedly raping an eight-year-old girl in Ajegunle area of Lagos. This came as a 42-year-old man, identified as Bala, was arrested by police in Oyo State for allegedly raping an eight-year-old girl in Ibadan. On the Ajegunle incident, the victim (names withheld ) told policemen that the suspect, who is her late father’s friend, had had carnal knowledge of her twice.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon who is currently in Nigeria this morning laid a wreath at the scene of the bomb blast that rocked the UN House Abuja on August 26th 2011. 21 people died while 60 were injured. Ban Ki Moon later had a meeting with the staff of the UN House Abuja.
