After all, we all know that Turkey has been regularly bombing the Kurds in Iraq and Syria, that Turkey still illegally occupies northern Cyprus just like the Israelis have been bombing Syria and Lebanon for decades and that they are still illegally occupying Palestine. 

No Itsekiri Among Looters –Buhari

The 20th Olu of Warri, Ikenwoli Gbesimi Emiko 1, was on Saturday crowned in coastal Ode-Itsekiri, Delta State, with several politicians, industrialists, traditional rulers and religious leaders in attendance.
At the event, President Muhammadu Buhari, who was represented by Among the Secretary to The Government of the Federation, Mr. David Lawal, said no Itsekiri person was among corrupt persons who had been returning loot to the coffers of the Federal Government.
He extolled the virtues of the people, noting that of all those who have returned stolen money, the Itsekiri people remained one of the few ethnic groups not affected.

The Deputy Senate President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, has warned that unless the downward slide of the Nigerian economy is halted, the country may witness a revolution by citizens.
Speaking at the opening of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) South East Zonal Executive Council meeting, Mr. Ekweremadu expressed dismay at the handling of the Nigeria’s economy by the All Progressives Congress, APC-led federal government.

Job Creation Remains My priority – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that job creation will remain one of the topmost priorities of his administration’s economic agenda. The president stated this at the 2nd Convocation of the Kaduna State University in Kaduna.
He said it was only through job creation that government could attain its objectives of improved security and poverty reduction.

Biafra: Agitation, A Move To Frustrate Buhari’s Fight Against Corruption —Unongo

FORMER Minister of Power and Steel in the Second Republic, Wartaregh Paul Unongo, has stated that the violent agitation of the Republic of Biafra by some youths of Igbo extraction is a move to frustrate the war against corruption by President Muhammad Buhari.

The former minister, who was speaking to newsmen in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, at the weekend, stated that the change mantra was what beneficiaries of the old system was resisting and opposing and were actively organising the unsuspecting youths.

ONGOING investigations into how $2.1bn meant for the procurement of arms was squandered may lead to the premature exit of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele.
A source in the presidency told The Guardian that circumstances that surrounded the appointment of Emefiele, including recent revelations about movement of the funds, and his involvement in the unexplained presence of two former heads of commercial banks, when President Buhari hosted members of the international business community in London, are being counted against the governor.
“Already,” the source said, “a small team of legal and financial experts has been directed to weigh the various implications the removal of the CBN chief could trigger, especially to prevent a similar backlash, as when the past government engineered the untimely retirement of former CBN governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.”

$2.1bn Arms Deal: Lawyers, General Want Dasuki, Ayu, Yuguda Others Tried For Genocide

Following revelations of massive looting of security votes in the Office of the immediate past National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki, (retd), prominent lawyers, retired army officer and civil society groups have said that culprits in the scam should be tried for genocide and crime against humanity.

This is coming on the heels of rebuttals by many prominent Nigerians who allegedly benefitted from the disbursement of the $2.1billion and over N600billion in local currency. Lagos-based lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), has vowed to drag the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd), and others implicated in the alleged $2.1 billion arms deal, to the International Criminal Court (ICC) next week.
Falana disclosed this in Abuja at the maiden lecture and dinner organised by the Amnesty International (AI), while delivering a lecture on ‘Promotion and Protection of human rights in Nigeria’, insisting that the accused must be prosecuted for crimes against humanity.

Car Bomb Blast in Syria's Homs Kills Civilians

Over 22 people were killed in a massive blast in the Syrian city of Homs near a hospital, according to a source.

At least 22 people were killed and over 70 injured in the explosion near a charity association and the al-Ahli hospital in the center of the Syrian city of Homs, a source in the hospital said Saturday.

"According to our information, 22 people have died. There are about 70 injured people in the hospital. Some of the wounded were also taken to other hospitals," an employee at the al-Ahli hospital told RIA Novosti.

Russian Frigate Uses Firearms to Prevent Collision With Turkish Vessel in Aegean Sea The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement that the crew of the Russian 'Smetlivy' frigate was forced to use firearms to prevent a collision with a Turkish seiner vessel 22 kilometers from the Greek island of Limnos in the northern part of the Aegean Sea on December 13. Russian Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov has urgently summoned a Turkish military envoy in Moscow following the incident.

Images From Shiites-Army Clash In Zaria, Many Feared Dead

Seven individuals were killed on Saturday, amid a firefight between the Nigerian Army and individuals from the Shi’a Muslim faction, in Zaria, Kaduna.

The official Twitter record of the Nigerian Army says individuals from Ibrahim Zakzaky’s Shi’a Muslim group endeavored to kill the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Tukur Buratai.

Ibrahim El-Zakzaky is the leader of the Shi’a Islamic Movement center.

The individuals from the faction and troopers were said to have conflicted taking after an assault on the convoy of the Army Chief.

Meanwhile, the Shi’a individuals claim that the Nigerian Army raged the Shi’a Islamic Movement center headquarters Hussainia Baqeeyatullah-in the PZ area of Zaria and opened fire on a lot of Muslim faithfuls.
