Buhari Orders IG To Reduce Policemen Attached To Dignitaries

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday directed the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase, to prune down the number of policemen attached to dignitaries across the country.

He also directed the police boss to redeploy all policemen withdrawn from that role to regular police duties.

A statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, quoted the President as speaking during a meeting with officials of the Ministry of Police Affairs and the Police Service Commission in the Presidential Villa, Abuja.


Adesina also said the President warned that that he would not tolerate any irregularities or extortion of money from unemployed Nigerians in the coming recruitment into the police.

He said applicants having to pay bribes before being accepted into the police in the past was totally unacceptable.

The President told the officials that those in charge of recruitment and training in the Police must be above board and eschew every form of extortion and underhand dealing.

Wike Lied, I Left Billions In Cash, Assets – Amaechi


The immediate past governor of Rivers State, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, has denied claims by his successor, Chief Nyesom Wike, that he (Amaechi) left an empty treasury before leaving office.

Amaechi described, in a statement from his media officer via electronic mail, as “a lie,” the claim of empty treasury by Wike, adding that he left billions of Naira in cash and assets before leaving office as governor.

Tunde Fowler Set To Be Named FIRS chairman


Babatunde Fowler, the Executive Chairman Lagos State Board of Internal Revenue and Chief Executive Officer Lagos State Internal Revenue Service is set to be named the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).

A source close to the Presidency told PM News that the giant strides of Fowler in Lagos state has landed him the top job under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The source said the announcement of Fowler will be made in the next few days, adding that, “it should be made public latest next week”.

Buhari Sacks FIRS Chairman Appoints Babantunde Fowler As Replacement

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed William Babatunde Fowler as the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), a statement by Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the President, Media and Publicity, has said.

Mr. Buhari, according to the statement, also appointed Aliyu Yahaya Gusau as Director-General , Budget Office of the Federation.
Mr. Fowler, the new FIRS boss, was the Chief Executive Officer/Executive Chairman of the Lagos State Board of Internal Revenue from 2005 to 2014.

Aliyu Yahaya-Gusau Appointed As DG Budget Office

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Mr Aliyu Yahaya Gusau as director-general Budget Office of the Federation. Until his appointment, Gusau was the director, fiscal policy, budget monitoring and evaluation and acting director- general, Budget Office of the Federation at the exit of the former Director-General, Dr Bright Okogu. The appointment takes effect from Tuesday, 18 August, 2015; with a term of four years renewable for anothwer four years, a statement by the director of press and public relations, federal ministry of finance, Marshall Gundu, said. The new budget office chief hails from Zamfara State. He holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) Degree in Economics from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.

The Kano State Refuse Management and Sanitation Board on Thursday said it was ready to begin the conversion of wastes to wealth before the end of 2015.

Oyo State Stops Payment Of WAEC Fees


OYO State government has stopped further payment of West African Examinations Council (WAEC) registration fees of students in public schools in the state, commencing from the 2015/2016 academic session in September.

The government alluded the poor financial status of the state government and lackadaisical attitude of parents and students to promotion of quality education as reason for the decision.

Police Uncovers Goat Thieves In Delta, Recovers Arms (photo)


The Police authorities in Delta state last Monday bursted a criminal syndicate that specialized in stealing goats from the communities and selling them to restaurants and hotel operators in the big cities.

The Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Celestina Kalu said in a statement Wednesday in Asaba, that three members of the syndicate fled and abandoned their loot during a stop and search operation by the police recently.
