Man Jailed Without Bail for $5-theft Found Dead in Jail Cell

A 24-year-old male who was arrested for stealing $5 worth of groceries was found dead in his jail cell last Wednesday after being held behind bars and without bail for almost four months.

Jamycheal Mitchell was facing misdemeanor charges of petty larceny and trespassing after allegedly stealing a Mountain Dew, a Snickers bar and a Zebra cake from a 7-Eleven. He was arrested in Portsmouth, Virginia, on April 22.

Naira may be devalued again –Report

 Following the inauguration of the new administration, the naira may be devalued again to reflect the recent drop in Nigeria’s foreign reserves, analysts at Renaissance Capital have said.

The analysts said this in a report, ‘Nigeria beyond May 29: Managing expectations,’ which was made available to our correspondent on Friday.

Presidency refutes MURIC's allegation of Jewish symbol on 100 Naira note


Presidential spokesman Reuben Abati, has reacted to criticisms leveled against President Jonathan by the Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, over an alleged Jewish sign on the yet to be released N100 notes. The Director of MURIC in a statement said that Pres. Jonathan was attempting to turn Nigeria into a Zion state through the introduction of a Jewish sign on the yet to be introduced N100 centenary commemoration note.
