NASS Crisis May Lead To Buhari’s Impeachment – Lawyer -

An Abia State-based constitutional lawyer and human rights activist, Dr. Anthony Agbazuere, has warned the leadership of the ruling All Progressive Congress to treat with caution, the leadership crisis rocking the National Assembly, saying it can consume both APC and President Muhammadu Buhari if not carefully handled.

PDP Rejects Zakari As INEC Boss

The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party has rejected the appointment of Mrs. Amina Zakari as the Acting National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Zakari was appointed as the acting boss of the commission on Tuesday by President Muhammadu Buhari following the conclusion of the term of office of Prof. Attahiru Jega.

Holding politicians accountable

All that we get to read or hear these days is how much the three tiers of government in the country shared and how broke they later became.

Now that they have shared N409bn and dispersed to their respective states, what next? Just wait and watch the dollar and pounds sterling become scarce.

This has become our monthly routine and ugly experiences because the media and civil rights activists who should ask the right questions never bother to rightfully extract from these politicians in very consistent and sustainable manners how they spend these monies that are obviously not their pocket monies.

Saraki names Senate Principal Officers

Senate President Bukola Saraki at Senate plenary this morning announced the following as principal officers:
Senate Leader -Senator Ali Ndume
Senate Deputy Leader – Bala Ibn Na’Allah
Senate Chief Whip – yet to be named
Deputy Whip – Francis Alimikhena
Meanwhile, the Lawan-led camp has objected to the list read out by Senate President Bukola Saraki.

APC N’East caucus rejects Lawan, picks Ndume

The All Progressives Congress choice for the post of Senate Leader, Ahmad Lawan, seems to have lost out as the North-East caucus of the party in the Senate has picked Senator Ali Ndume for the post.

But the Senator representing Osun Central Senatorial District,   Olusola Adeyeye, was   unanimously endorsed by the South-West caucus as the chief whip .

Assembly confirms judge’s call for Aregbesola’s impeachment

The Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Mr. Najeem Salaam, said on Wednesday that the assembly had received a petition from Justice Folahanmi Oloyede, calling for the impeachment of Governor Rauf Aregbesola because of alleged financial recklessness.

Senate President Saraki appoints Sen. Galadu as his Chief of Staff

 Senate President Bukola Saraki this evening announced the appointment of Senator Isa Galadu as his Chief of staff "I have appointed Senator Isa Galadu as my Chief of Staff and also Mr. Yusuph Olaniyonu as Special Adviser on Media. Please note the appointments take effect immediately" a message shared on his Facebook wall read Senator Galadu represents Kebbi North in the Senate and is a member of PDP.

  Nigeria's previous VP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC). A senate president paying a quick graciousness visit to a chieftain of his gathering and not the party's formally assigned pioneers beyond any doubt raised a few eyebrows.
