Iran’s Supreme Leader Says US, Britain Created IS Terrorist Group
The Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei claimed Monday that the United States and the United Kingdom were responsible for the creation of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group.
"They [the United States and the United Kingdom] created Al Qaeda and Da'esh [the Arabic acronym for the IS] in order to create divisions and to fight against the Islamic Republic [of Iran], but now, they have turned on them," Iran's top cleric said as quoted by Reuters.
Correctional Services Officer Urges Community Work for Pistorius Instead of Incarceration
Correctional services officer Joel Maringa has told the court on Monday that South African amputee sprinter Oscar Pistorius should be subjected to three years of community work instead of incarceration.
"Basically, the issue here is that not only retribution is considered when sentencing. We are also looking at the issue of reforming the accused in the interests of society as well. For the wrong that he has done, you will be compensating the society by doing community service," Maringa told the court.

The Chinese market can partially substitute access to the financial resources of the European Union and the United States for Russia, Russian Economic Development Minister Alexey Ulyukayev said on Monday. “This is a very real source of financing for our operations. It may be implemented in various forms: loans in yuan are absolutely possible, [and so are] connected lending, project financing, participation in major projects,” Ulyukayev said, adding, however, that the Asian markets will not be able to fully substitute European lending.
