It was a gathering of great faces and voices in the Nigerian broadcasting world, whilst the fifth edition of the Nigerian Broadcasters Merit Awards (NBMA) finally held on Saturday November 15, 2014, at the Ballroom of Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Ikeja, Lagos. It was a morning with memories that could outlive all who attended the function especially people who grabbed NBMA’s new plaque made from’18 carat’gold ; a monument of honour and prestige from the event.


The event which was anchored by the wonderful trio of Wazobia FM’s electrifying presenter Omotunde Adebowale- David a.k.a Lolo1 alongside Rhythm FM’s ace presenter Anita Isedeh otherwise referred to as Omalicha and ‘Elajoe ‘, was a combination of music, comedy and fashion show. There have been lots of winners in the competitive categories and the smile on the faces along with their tight grip on the plaques inside their hands told the whole story without needing words. His Excellency, Governor Mohammed Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of Kano State was crowned whilst the Best Governor in the Northern region of Nigeria. Aside inducting Otunba Dayo Adeneye (D-1) into NBMA’s Hall of Fame, Dr. Ahmed Tijjani Ramalan, the Executive Chairman ATAR Communication, bagged The Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding contributions to the growth of quality broadcasting in the Northern element of Nigeria.

Prince Gbolahan Lawal, the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Agriculture & Cooperatives, Mr. Teslim Olawale Raji, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Commerce & Industries, Mr. Lateef Raji, Special Adviser on Information & Strategy and Zdon Paporella got Special Recognition Awards. Mr 2K, Frank D’Nero, MC Linchung, De-Don, Marcello, K-Lite, Nysot among few other shining and rising music and comedy stars rocked the microphone to the delight of audience. ‘3G Stitches’proved why he’s hot in the fashion scene. The unsung gifted fashion designer showcased a number of his fashion collections through the event. Rainbow FM’s In-House VDJ Unbeatable was behind the turntable.

Actor & politician, Kenneth Okonkwo, in a recent  interview with City People magazine this week said since he married  his wife Ifeoma in 2007, he has been 100% faithful

“Since I got married, I have not had a carnal knowledge of any other lady but I have been very close to it, been tempted but Jesus has been helping me, it has not happened” He said.

He said as an actor who is always on location, whenever he has the urge for sex, he takes an excuse and leaves the location to go meet his wife…

“What does it take? If I am on location and I feel the need, I can fly in, see my babe and fly back to location. At times I would be on location and after a while, I will scream I just have to go home. I don’t know how my body is feeling. I am that straight forward. I will announce it in public. And if I don’t run that time, something will happen” he said

Pics: Chinese car company makes cheaper version, $22,000 carbon copy of Range Rover

UK giant car company Jaguar Land Rover is furious after a relatively unknown Chinese car company called LandWind unveiled a car that looked almost exactly like the Range Rover E-vogue which at $22,000 cost $48,000 less than the Evogue which is about $70,000. Above is the Evogue and below is the Chinese car. It was launched at a motor show in China last week.

Jaguar Land Rover say they may take legal action against the company. Jaguar Land Rover chief executive Dr Ralf Speth told Autocar magazine:

‘The fact that this kind of copying is ongoing in China is very disappointing. The intellectual property (IP) is owned by Jaguar Land Rover and if you break that IP then you are in breach of international regulations.’

The sign on new 100 Naira note is not a Jewish sign

Just got this email from someone who doesn't agree that the sign on the new N100 note is a Jewish sign. The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), think it is.  The mail below...

"Picture attached shows that Star of David has 6 points (pictured left) like someone noted here, while that symbol on the Naira which I dont know its meaning is 8 points.

MURIC should be asking the meaning of that symbol with 8 points not showing their ignorance by quickly concluding it is the Jewish Star of David.

The arewa sign has 8 points...that makes more sense. Thank God for information technology, we cannot be fooled. Just Google it."

Update: Tortured Ugandan Baby doing great, maid to get up15yrs in jail

The Ugandan baby who was viciously assaulted by maid a recent video that went viral the other day has recovered from her injuries and is back to the loving arms of her parents. (pictured above)

In accordance with Ugandan NTV report, the house-help, 22year old Jolly Tumuhirwe faces as much as 15 years in jail for attempted murder. The girl appeared at Nakawa Magistrates Court in Uganda on Nov. 20th after police concluded their investigations. The authorities say she was charged under the Anti-torture Act

The court didn’t grant her bail, so Jolly is remanded at Luzira prison in Uganda. The maid had only worked with the family for 30 days before she was filmed brutally assaulting the baby. And yes, the baby’s father Erick Kimanzi, admitted to beating the maid after watching the video.
