US to Develop 6th Generation Fighters to Outrun Russian, Chinese Jets.
The US Air Force and Navy plan to pursue the development and acquisition of sixth-generation F/A-XX fighters; they consider the fleet of existing jets incapable of handling their Russian and Chinese fifth-generation counterparts, something which they feel constitutes a real threat to national security.

The Chinese Chengdu J-20 and the Russian Sukhoi T-50 PAK-FA are becoming a real threat to the US Air Force and Navy, according to The National Interest, an international affairs magazine.

“When you see these next-generation fighters, the PAK-FA out of Russia and the J-20 out of China, and some of their new missile technology, our advantage is dwindling,” the magazine quotes one senior industry official as saying, without disclosing his name.

Neither of the two jets currently in service with the US Air Force and Navy, the Lockheed Martin F-35C Joint Strike Fighter and the Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, can adequately handle new threats like the Chinese Chengdu J-20 or the Russian Sukhoi T-50 PAK-FA, the magazine cites “some industry insiders with deep knowledge of both jets” as saying.
The Chinese J-20 is particularly threatening, according to “one senior industry official with an extensive fighter pilot background.”

Only the Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor seems to offer any real advantages against the J-20 and PAK-FA.
The magazine identified the areas where Russian and Chinese jets outperform the US fighters and stressed what should be of primarily importance for the next generation jet.
Supersonic performance is one of the areas in which the J-20 shines, compared with the US jets. The J-20 can cruise at high supersonic speeds without using fuel-guzzling afterburners for extended periods, which allows it to impart far more launch energy into its missiles.

“Take a J-20 that can cruise at mil power supersonic out to 300 plus miles before he has to turn around and come back, [this] makes it really hard for a subsonic fighter [that needs afterburners for supersonic flight] to go into that environment and survive,” said the senior industry official. “Especially in an away game when we are outnumbered.”
The strike fighters therefore should be designed primarily for an air-to-air mission, the magazine says. Strike capability can be treated as a secondary concern.
“The F/A-XX requirements may well be biased towards fleet air defense versus strike operations,” the website quotes another source as saying. “The primary issue is the likely threat of numerical superiority in multiple dimensions.”
The expert s also speculate on the need to develop new weapons for the jets, if the six generation F/A-XX is to be a supersonic design.

Boeing unveils updated F/A-XX sixth-gen fighter concept
“If the future F/A-XX is going to have to carry more missiles, it will necessarily need to have a large volume—if the jet is going to be stealthy,” the senior official has said, “But because a flying wing design is needed for all-aspect broadband stealth—there is no room to stack weapons bays along the length of the jet. […] By necessity, a high performance supersonic aircraft has to be long and slender in order to have a good “fineness ratio” for efficient performance.”
“A supersonic, flying wing fighter will likely require smaller missiles, or rely on directed energy weapons like a high energy laser to minimize internal payload volume,” the second official said.
John Stillion, an analyst at the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments, however, recently argued that a next-generation fighter would not necessarily be a supersonic fighter, but rather a subsonic stealthy flying wing that would carry extremely long-range missiles.
Stillion therefore supposed that stealth, payload and sensor capability would trump traditional fighter metrics like speed, altitude and turn capability.

Real change ! Current Gubernatorial Poll Standings APC Has Swept, 19 States, PDP Has 5 States
The All Progressives Congress (APC) is cementing its ruling party status in the country with massive wins in more than half of the states in Nigeria in the governorship elections.
According to results announced so far, the APC won in 19 states and was leading in Plateau and Kebbi states. The ruling party now to become opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), however, won in Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi, Gombe and Enugu.
While it lost the governorship seat in Lagos, the PDP won six seats in the Lagos State House of Assembly for the first time ever.
Senator Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, yesterday, broke the re-election jinx like he vowed last year. Since 1983, no governor has ever been re-elected in the state.
The APC won the governorship elections in Kaduna, Sokoto, Niger, Borno, Adamawa, Lagos, Kwara, Katsina, Bauchi, Kano, Yobe, Zamfara, Oyo, Ogun, Benue, Nasarawa, Jigawa and Benue States.
Yesterday, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) released results of the governorship and House of Assembly elections held on Saturday, with the All Progressives Congress (APC) winning in majority of the states.
At press time, from the results released by the INEC, the APC had already won 14 out of 29 states where governorship elections held on Saturday.
In the poll, which was largely peaceful across the nation, the APC created upsets in states traditionally controlled by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) since 1999.
Such states include Kaduna, Niger, Adamawa, Benue and Bauchi.
For the PDP, apart from Imo, it literally had a smooth sail in the South-East and South-South, winning in Enugu, Ebonyi, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Cross River and Rivers. The party also won in Gombe and Taraba states.
Ogun
In the ‘Gateway State’, Governor Ibikunle Amosun was re-elected for a second term in office.
The INEC Returning Officer for the state, Prof. Duro Oni, declared him winner of the April 11 governorship election having polled 306,988 out of 555,430 total valid votes cast in the state.
With Amosun’s victory, the hope of the people of Ogun West to produce a governor of the state for the first time has once again been dashed. The district remains the only section that has yet to produce a governor for the state since its creation over 38 years ago.
The governorship candidate of the PDP, Gboyega Isiaka, who came second behind Amosun with 201,440 votes, hails from Imeko in the Ogun West Senatorial District of the state.
Declaring Amosun as the duly elected governor of the state, the INEC returning officer, who is also the deputy vice chancellor of the University of Lagos, said the APC standard bearer beat 15 other governorship candidates to emerge the overall winner of the poll.
Oni also said the election did not hold in nine polling units spread across three local government areas of Odeda, Ogun Waterside and Sagamu.
Katsina
The APC gubernatorial candidate in Katsina State, Aminu Masari, won in all the 33 constituencies so far declared at press time yesterday out of the 34 in the state.
The collation of the votes was deferred from 1pm till 3pm because the result of Fasakri Local Government Area was still being awaited.
However, results so far declared showed that APC polled 613,132 votes as against 457,903 by the PDP in the election.
A breakdown of the result revealed that the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, delivered his home constituency, Daura, with ease while Governor Ibrahim Shema lost in his Dutsin-ma constituency.
Similarly, the governorship candidate of APC, Masari, won in his home constituency, Kafur, while his PDP counterpart, Musa Nashuni, lost in Kankia.
Investigations revealed that though the governorship and assembly elections were generally peaceful in most local government areas, they were characterised by violence in some areas.
The worst hit area was Danmusa Local Government Area, where the results of 10 out of the 11 wards in the constituency were cancelled due to violence.
Kaduna
Former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Nasir El- Rufa’i, of the APC won the election.
According to the INEC in Kaduna, El-Rufa’i polled a total of 1,117,635 million votes from across the 23 local government areas of the state.
The INEC Returning Officer for Kaduna State, Prof. Ja’afaru Kaura, who announced the result, said El- Rufa’i defeated his main opponent, the PDP candidate, who is also the incumbent governor, Mukhtar Yero, who polled a total of 485,833 votes. Yero had earlier in a telephone conversation with El-Rufa’i and special radio broadcast conceded defeat and congratulated the winner.
Meanwhile, there was jubilation among APC supporters across the state as soon as the result was announced, with youths taking over major streets in Kaduna metropolis, singing and dancing.
Enugu
In the coal City state, the PDP candidate, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, was declared the winner in the election which he won overwhelmingly.
INEC Returning Officer, Prof. Hilary Edoga, who declared the result at the commission’s office in Enugu, said Ugwuanyi fulfilled all the requirements of the law to be pronounced the winner of the governorship election in the state.
Ugwuanyi polled a total of 482,277 votes out of the total 538,752 valid votes cast to beat the APC candidate, Chief Okey Ezea, who scored 43,839 votes.
Former governor Chimaroke Nnamani’s party, PDC came third with 4,813, while APGA took the fourth position with 3,343 votes.
The state chapter of the PDP in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Dr. Okey Eze, congratulated Ugwuanyi and all its candidates at the election, saying they had successfully won and overwhelmingly too.
The Deputy Senate President, Chief Ike Ekweremadu, congratulated Ugwuanyi on his victory, saying his victory was very much expected as the PDP was not only the party on ground in Enugu, but also going by his overwhelming popularity across the state.
Gombe
Governor Hassan Dankwambo of Gombe won re-election on the platform of the PDP. He won with 285,369 to defeat the APC candidate, Inuwa Yahaya, who got 205,132 votes, according to the Returning Officer, Prof. Saminu Ibrahim.
Oyo
For the first time since Oyo State was created on March 17, 1976, the incumbent governor of the state, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, has become the first civilian governor to be re-elected for a second term in office.
Besides, it was jubilation galore in many parts of the state, especially within the camp of the APC, when Ajimobi emerged the winner of the keenly contested election.
He was returned winner of the governorship election having polled a total of 327,310 votes.
The Returning Officer for the state, Prof. Ayobami Salami, who is the deputy vice Chancellor (Academics), Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, announced that he defeated his closest rival, Senator Rashidi Ladoja of the Accord Party, who scored 254,520, with 72,790 votes. Ajimobi won in 20 local governments areas, while Ladoja won in seven.
Otunba Adebayo Alao- Akala of the Labour Party (LP) polled a total of 184,111 votes and won in six council areas.
The governorship candidates of the PDP, Teslim Folarin, polled 79,019 votes.
Ebonyi
The PDP governorship candidate, Chief Dave Umahi, was declared winner of Saturday’s election in the state.
Umahi won all the 13 local government areas in the state to emerge winner of the keenly contested election in the state.
The Returning Officer for the governorship election and the Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (NAU), Prof. Joseph Ahaneku, while declaring the result of the election, said Umahi scored 289, 867 votes to beat his closest rival, Chief Edward Nkwegu of Labour Party, who polled 124, 817 votes. APC candidate, Senator Julius Ucha, scored 27, 583 votes.
Sokoto
The outgoing Speaker, House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, won the Sokoto governorship election.
The state Returning Officer and Deputy Vice Chancellor of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Prof. Abdullahi Bagudu, announced the results collated from the 23 local government areas of the state. Prof. Bagudu said out of 926,682 total votes cast, 32, 054 votes were invalidated.
Bagudu stated that out of 958,736 votes cast during the poll, the APC, on which platform Tambuwal contested, scored 6747,609 votes, while the PDP came second with 269, 074 votes.
Lagos
In the Centre of Excellence, the APC has won the tension-soaked April 11 governorship election in the state.
He polled a total of 811, 994 votes to defeat Mr. Jimi Agbaje of the PDP, who scored 659, 788 votes.
The APC governorship candidate won the election in 15 out of the 20 local government areas in the state, while Agbaje won in Ojo, Amuwo Odofin, Ajeromi Ifelodun, Oshodi-Isolo and Surulere local government areas.
The Returning Officer, Prof. Isaac Adewole, who is also the vice chancellor, University of Ibadan, said the APC candidate, having scored the majority of votes cast and scored 25 per cent of votes across the 20 local government areas, was returned as winner of the governorship poll.
Meanwhile, the governorship candidate of the PDP for Lagos State, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, yesterday evening put a phone call through to Mr. Ambode, the APC candidate, to congratulate him on his victory in Saturday’s contest.
Agbaje made the call at about 6.50pm.
“I just made a phone call to congratulate Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress,” Agbaje said, according to a press statement by the Director of Media and Publicity for the Jimi Agbaje Campaign Organisation, Felix Oboagwina.
Delta
At press time, in the oil-rich state, the PDP governorship candidate, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, won 16 of the 20 local government areas released by INEC, while Chief Great Ogboru of Labour Party clinched four local government areas. Delta State has 25 local governments.
Rivers
The results released at press time by INEC showed that Wike had won 19 out of the the 21 local government areas. A breakdown of the results showed that PDP scored 82,289 in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, while APC got 26,367.
In Ikwerre Local Government Area, Wike polled 23,511 as against 10,555 votes by APC. In Etche Local Government Area, PDP got 33,954, while APC scored 6,488. The PDP got 31,103 votes in Degema Local Government Area, while APC got 1,244.
Akwa Ibom
In the oil-rich state, the PDP won the gubernatorial election by polling 996,071 votes to beat its closest rival, the APC, which got 89,866 votes.
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. James Okpoke, who announced the result, said a total of 1,122,836 votes were cast out of which 12,256 were rejected and 1,110,580 votes valid.
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) fielded the former Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Udom Emmanuel as its candidate while APC fielded yet another former Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Umana Okon Umana as its candidate.
The Accord Party that fielded the former deputy state chairman of PDP, Bishop Sam Akpan, came third with 10,598 votes only, while the current Chairman, Senate Committee on Women Affairs, Mrs. Helen Esuene, who flew the Labour Party flag, came a distant fourth with 8,600 votes. DPP came last with only 10 votes.
Meanwhile, pockets of violence were recorded in major streets of Uyo in the afternoon of Sunday as the results were being relayed on Akwa Ibom Broadcasting Service.
Youths in their hundreds marched through some major streets carrying placards and calling for “free and fair elections.”
Major junctions such as Udo Udoma by Oron Road and Edet Akpan by Oron Road were blocked by the youths, who made bonfires and erected barricades,
They were, however, dispersed by security agents who also cordoned off all access roads to INEC office.
Imo State
Governor Rochas Okorocha and candidate of the APC at press time was coasting to victory, leading his closest rival, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and candidate of the PDP, Emeka Ihedioha. The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate, Captain Emmanuel Ihenacho, came a distant third.
From results already announced by the state Returning Officer, Prof. Oye Ibidapo Obe, Okorocha polled a total votes of 378,752, as against 324,480 polled by Ihedioha.
Okorocha won in 19 local government areas out of the 27 council areas of the state.
However, Ihedioha swept the votes in Ohaji/Egbema, Ngor Okpala, Aboh Mbaise, Ahiazu Mbaise, Oguta, Isiala Mbano and Ezinihitte Mbaise.
But the collation of results was put on hold over vehement disagreement between APC and PDP agents, forcing the returning officer to order for the re-computation of the results in Ezinihitte Mbaise.
Abia
At press time, the result from Abia State was not clear as the PDP and APGA candidates were running neck and neck, having won six local government areas of the state each. The controversial results of Osisioma where the APGA agent, Ahamdi Nweke, alleged that there was no election, caused a stalemate.
An international female observer, from the European Union Election Monitoring Mission, Sheller, supported Nweke’s claim.

INEC declares Imo governorship election inconclusive
The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared the governorship election in Imo state inconclusive.
Due to the number of cancelled votes (144,715) in relation to the margin of win (79,529) by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Rochas Okorocha, the Returning Officer, Professor Ibidapo Obe, declared the election inconclusive.
He said a new date would be announced for a rerun election in the cancelled wards spread across several local government areas.
Mr. Okorocha was initially thought to have won the election after he garnered 385,671 votes compared to the 306,142 votes scored by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Emeka Ihedioha.
The APC candidate is ahead of Mr. Ihedioha by 79,529 votes, which is by far lower than the 144,715 votes cancelled by INEC as a result of irregularities in some wards.
INEC’s verdict on the Imo election is a repeat of what happened in 2011.
The commission had at the time declared the result inconclusive after cancelling results in some wards following irregularities detected in some wards.
Mr. Okorocha, who ran then on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, went on to win a rerun.
If Mr. Okorocha eventually wins the rerun, the APC would have succeeded in holding on to the only state it controls in Nigeria’s South-East geo-political zone.
Three of the remaining states (Enugu, Abia and Ebonyi) in the region are controlled by the PDP while one (Anambra) has remained firmly in the grip of the All Progressives Grand Alliance for more than nine years.

President-Elect Buhari Speaks, Slams Iweala And Will Force Ministers to Declare Assets
President-Elect Buhari firmly stated that “all those that were governors, ministers, permanent secretaries, head of foreign staff and all those with political appointments will have to declare their assets on the assumption of their appointment and definitely with the courts.
And once they leave they have to re-declare their assets.” He said this would ensure greater accountability among public servants.
President-Elect Buhari spoke exclusively with SaharaTV on how he plans to deal with corruption, the government’s finances, Boko Haram, and Nigeria’s economy. Most notably he blamed Minister Iweala for the financial situation in Nigeria, and that he will make his Ministerial appointees declare their assets to the public.
When asked about statements from Minister of Finance Iweala on the fiscal conditions and government spending in Nigeria, President-Elect Buhari told SaharaTV that “I’m afraid the Finance Minister has no cause to complain because the governors cannot force the central government to act outside the Constitution.”
President-Elect Buhari firmly stated that “all those that were governors, ministers, permanent secretaries, head of foreign staff and all those with political appointments will have to declare their assets on the assumption of their appointment and definitely with the courts. And once they leave they have to re-declare their assets.” He said this would ensure greater accountability among public servants.
However, he did tell SaharaTV that he does not plan to interfere with the judiciary and whatever action it may take pursuing corrupt public officials. He stated that his administration would not “become embroiled in investigation every ministry, then the government will not have time to move forward.”
On the contentious issue of Oil Block ownership in Nigeria, and an equitable distribution of the country’s wealth, he suggested that partisan politics in Nigeria is the cause of inequitability in the oil sector. President-Elect Buhari claimed that he wanted to professionalize the oil sector in Nigeria. He said that the “proliferation of oil fields to people who don’t even know what it is, is one of the messes partisan politics has brought.” Within the equitable distribution of wealth and job creation for youth, the President-Elect pointed to the APC manifesto calling for greater emphasis on mining and agriculture development.
When pressed on rumors that former president Obasanjo was exercising inordinate influence on Buhari’s administration he said, “I think that people have to accept the realities of Nigeria’s political development. General Olusegun Obasanjo is the only living Nigerian that led Nigeria for more than 11 years, so for anybody to think that General Obasanjo is irrelevant or he was trying to push his influence over issues, I think is being uncharitable and not being fair to Nigeria’s political development.”
President-Elect Buhari is now confronted with the challenge of appointing a ministerial and cabinet team, and he has stated publicly that PDP defectors should not expect to receive Minister appointments.

Akinwunmi Ambode wins Lagos gov poll, PDP rejects results
The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, as the winner of the April 11 election while the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, came second.
However, the PDP has rejected the result on the ground of what it called “the controversial” circumstances within which the election was conducted.
Out of the 20 local government areas of Lagos, Ambode won 15 while Agbaje won five.
Figures by INEC showed that Ambode polled 811,994 votes while Agbaje got 659,788 votes, a difference of 152, 206 votes.
However, the Lagos State chapter of the PDP, in a statement by its Legal Adviser, Mr. Adeleke Adefala, on Sunday, said in areas where the APC won, card readers were manipulated.
The statement, which was addressed to the Resident Electoral Commissioner, read, “I, on behalf of our governorship candidate, the state assembly candidates and the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State, write to bring to your attention the following issues for your immediate attention and resolution.
“Our candidates have brought to our attention that contrary to electoral rules and guidelines, the newly introduced card readers were not used in the following local governments: Epe, Babagry, Mushin, Ikorodu Eti Osa, Alimosho, Ikeja, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos Island and some parts of other local governments.
“This amounted to no proper accreditation of voters and a denouncement of the sanctity of the voting process. There were numerous complaints of front and uploading of the card readers with fictitious names before commencement of accreditation in areas where card readers were used such as Lagos Island, Ikorodu, Kosofe, Lagos Mainland and Badagry.
“We hereby demand the suspension of the collation and release of the results pending investigation into our complaints.”
3 feared killed as violence erupts in Ife
Three persons were reportedly killed in Ile Ife during a fight between supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress.
Our correspondent gathered on Sunday that one person was killed in the fight, which erupted in the town on Saturday night after the collation of election results.
The fight, which reportedly raged through the night, was said to have continued on Sunday with gun booming in some areas in the town before security personnel could restore peace to the troubled areas.
A resident of the town, Adewale Idowu, told our correspondent that the hoodlums, loyal to the two parties, clashed in Gbodo, Ayetoro and Ita Akogun.
He stated that some unspecified number of persons were injured during the fight, which also left some houses and vehicles vandalised.
Idowu said, “I saw a corpse on the road after the fight had subsided. Everybody ran inside to avoid being caught in the cross fire. I hope the number of casualties is not more than that.”
Another resident, who pleaded not to be named, said that two persons were killed in Gbodo, adding that the two victims in the area were siblings but he could not give their identities.
An 80-year-old member of the PDP, Pa Taiwo Ogundele, was killed in the Gbodo area during the continuous voter registration, which held in the state in 2014.
The octogenarian was said to have been dragged out of his house at around 10.30pm at night and his attackers killed him and dumped his body on a tomb at the back of his house.
Commissioner of Police in charge of election in Osun State, Mr. Valentine Ntomchukwu, could not be reached on his telephone as calls put across to him indicated he had either switched off the phone or out of coverage area.
Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in the state, Mr. Babawale Afolabi, when contacted, confirmed that one person was killed on Saturday night.
PDP wins Ebonyi gov election
Mr. Dave Umahi of the Peoples Democratic Party has been declared winner of the governorship election in Ebonyi State.
He polled 289, 867 votes, from 466, 312 total valid votes, to emerge winner of the election.
He won in all the 13 local government areas of the state, as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Total registered voters in the 13 LGAs were 1,054,370; total number of accredited voters was 500, 938; total rejected votes was 17, 325; while total votes cast stood at 483, 637.
The Labour Party candidate, Mr. Edward Nkwegu, came second with 124, 817 votes from the total valid votes.
The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Julius Ucha, was third after polling 27, 583 votes, while his counterpart in the All Progressives Grand Alliance candidate, Senator Anthony Agbo, got 17, 971 votes.

Adamawa PDP candidate, Nuhu Ribadu, concedes defeat, releases concession statement
With final result in the Adamawa state governorship election yet to be declared, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the election has conceded defeat. Below is his concession address to the people of Adamawa state.
Mr. Ribadu, a globally respected anti-corruption activist, ran a difficult race with leading members of his own party covertly and openly sabotaging his effort to be governor.
Some of them, including ex-Senator Jonathan Zwingina, with whom he travelled round the state canvassing votes, abandoned him and defected to the All Progressives Congress few days to the election.
Mr. Ribadu was the presidential candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria in the 2011 presidential election. He was the pioneer chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

“My dear people of Adamawa State,
“I greet you in the best form of greetings.
“I had dreamt of coming back home to lead our dear state to greater strides after years of underdevelopment. I started this journey in August last year and successfully got the mandate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) to fly its flag for the April 11 gubernatorial election. I came into this race knowing fully well that political contests are two-way traffics – one either wins or loses. As a man of faith, I was also aware that leadership responsibility is a product of God’s anointment.
“In the course of this journey, I have seen genuine support and encouragement from the people of Adamawa state. Several individuals from Adamawa and beyond contributed generously to keep the campaign going and many others devoted their time, energy and intellect to see to the success of this project. I sincerely appreciate this belief in my person and my ambition.
“The support I got from my party’s leadership and individual members from President Goodluck Jonathan down to the party agents in our polling units was overwhelming and gratifying. The party leader in the state, Barrister Bala James Nggilari and the state party chairman, Chief Joel Madaki led their lieutenants in making this journey memorable.
“I came into this race with lofty dreams and clear vision for our dear state, but the voice of the majority has not given me this chance. I take this in good faith.
“I want to take this opportunity to congratulate the winner and pray that at the end of it all our dear state will witness the needed progress and development it so much desires.

INEC releases statement on State Elections
The Independent National Electoral Commission conducted Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections across the country on Saturday, April 11, 2015.
Governorship elections were held in 29 States of the Federation, while State Assembly elections were held in 36 states. No election took place in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). A general assessment shows that the elections went very well across the country.
According to preliminary reports, 88.9 % of polling units opened for accreditation between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. across the country. Only 5.2 % were yet to open as of 1 pm. Also, 73 % of the polling units had commenced voting by 2.30 p.m.
The process of accreditation with Smart Card Readers was also successful in a majority of the polling units. Initial challenges were recorded in Edo and Abia states, but the technical teams deployed to support the states were able to resolve the issues in a timely manner.
Overall, many parts of the country remained relatively peaceful during the elections. Some states, however, recorded a significant number of violent incidents, the most affected being Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Ebonyi and Ondo States. INEC’s records show that there were 66 reports of violent incidents targeted at polling units, the Commission’s officials, voters and election materials. These were in Rivers State (16 incidents), Ondo (8), Cross River and Ebonyi (6 each), Akwa Ibom (5) Bayelsa (4), Lagos and Kaduna (3 each), Jigawa, Enugu, Ekiti and Osun (2 each), Katsina, Plateau, Kogi, Abia, Imo, Kano and Ogun (1 each). The Commission is investigating these incidents and will do everything within in its powers to bring culprits to justice.
INEC commends Nigerians for once again demonstrating their resolve and commitment to participate in the electoral process and by doing so, contributing to deepening democracy in our country.
The Commission calls on every citizen to maintain the peace as the results of the Governorship and State Assembly elections are being processed, and to accept the official outcomes. It would like to emphasize that winners can only emerge after collation of the official results and on the basis of the requirements prescribed by the legal framework. Any aggrieved persons or groups are encouraged to seek redress at the Tribunals.
INEC would also like to remind all stakeholders that the process is not yet completed and urges restraint in their comments, as we strive to bring this process to an orderly, peaceful and credible conclusion.

Mass Beaching of Whales Triggers 'Unscientific' Earthquake Fears in Japan!
The mass beaching of more than 150 melon-headed whales on Japan’s shores has triggered fear of a repeat devastating earthquake that killed 19,000 people in 2011 in Japan.
Despite a lack of scientific evidence linking the two events, a burst of online commentators have pointed to the appearance of around 50 melon-headed whales on Japan’s beaches six days before the monster quake, which released a towering tsunami and triggered a nuclear disaster.
To add to the fear, it was noted that more than 100 pilot whales died in a mass beaching on a remote New Zealand beach on February 20, 2011, two days before a large quake hit the country’s second-largest city Christchurch.
Japanese officials have however tried to calm fears, and have insisted there is no scientific data to prove the link.

Ex-Niger Delta militant, Asari Dokubo had a private meeting with the pioneer of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, Ralph Uwazurike at Buguma Toru LGA of Rivers State as of late.
