Ex-RT anchor tells Congress how Putin’s media works
There’s been heated competition today on Capitol Hill – who knows more about propaganda machine called Russia Today? Former RT anchor Liz Wahl, Legatum Institute Fellow Peter Pomerantsev and the Heritage Foundation’s Helle C. Dale took part in it.
No facts or examples – just common phrases “Russian propaganda”, “manipulation”, “lies”, Kremlin-funded”. Wahl even said that the Russian media propagates war. Interesting. All of this to apparently attract more funds for the BBG – The Broadcasting Board of Governors or BBG – the organization behind a set of Cold-War-era media projects, funded exclusively by the US government.
“In the Now” with RT’s Senior Political correspondent Anissa Naouai is the first dedicated nightly Primetime show to air live out of our Moscow headquarters. Host Anissa Naouai has worked in the field for almost a decade and has reported from over 80 cities across the globe. Now from Monday to Thursday viewers can enjoy fresh, honest, and hard-hitting news coverage on some of the world’s most pressing issues with one of RT’s most experienced journalists . We’ll put the spotlight on stories you’ll never hear on mainstream networks or even in RT’s daily news bulletins. “In the Now” – 8pm Moscow, 6pm London, 1pm New York.
When you have a fraudulent & faulty federal construct will not & cannot flourish & flower!
“When you have a fraudulent and faulty federal construct, no matter how much you try, no matter how many capable administrators and intellectuals you think you have, no matter how accountable and visionary in leadership you want to be, no matter how willing and wishful you want to build lasting and binding institutions, you will not and cannot flourish and flower in all the aforementioned, because the foundation is corrupt, faulty and not holding the structure properly.
Where you have a faulty, adulterated, shaky and compromised foundation, you will simultaneously and certainly have a warped and very wobbly building on it, no matter how appealing and beautiful the building looks.
The lack of a proper legally constituted federation where every region, every ethnic group and every state has the democratic right and duty to raise its own revenue, manage its own resources, enforce its own laws, has been the provenance and real cause of the bane Nigeria finds herself today, after 55 years!!”

Political Heavyweight: 3 Prominent Poroshenko Critics Killed in Kiev in 3 Days
As the political situation in Ukraine destabilizes, the suspicious killings of prominent opposition supporters continue to transpire.
A prominent Ukrainian journalist, known for his critical views of Poroshenko’s government was shot dead in Kiev on Thursday, in the latest series of suspicious deaths of opposition supporters.
Oles Buzina, 45, a supporter of ex-president Viktor Yanukovych, was shot in the street. Buzina’s body was found on the ground nearing his apartment building close to the city center. The head of Kiev’s police department Alexander Tereschuk said that a TT gun was allegedly used in the crime.According to the neighbors, the journalist was probably shot while jogging. He was found wearing a sports outfit. The 45- year-old was shot by two men in masks who disappeared from the crime scene in a Ford Focus car with either Latvian or Belarusian number plate.
Buzina was a columnist and editor of the daily newspaper Segodnya financed by Rinat Akhmetov, Ukraine’s richest man and a leading sponsor of Yanukovych’s Party of Regions. He was an opposition journalist, writer and TV host, well-known for his criticism of Poroshenko’s goverment.
Earlier in Kiev, the murderers of Donetsk journalist Sergei Sukhobok were arrested on Thursday. The journalist was killed on the 13th April. He was one of the founders of the online media “Obkom” and “ProUA,” also known for his opposition to the current Ukrainian leadership.
Sukhobok was also the author of several hundred articles on socio-political, social, legal and economic issues. His works were published in many publications, particularly in the “Ukrainian Truth”. For a few months in 2014, he worked in Donetsk.Following this wave of brutal killings, Russia’s MFA spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that this is, unfortunately, only the beginning of political purges in Ukraine.
“It is scary because none of the leaders in the EU will take notice that, day after day politicians are being killed in Ukraine. Let’s try and find at least 20 tweets of foreign ministers of Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Sweden, the UK, Canada, USA, and Australia, representatives of the OSCE, EU and NATO expressing concern over the killing of Ukrainian politician and condemning the situation in Ukraine.”
Just the evening before, Oleh Kalashnikov, a former Ukrainian MP and a vocal critic of the country’s ruling government was murdered on Wednesday in Kiev. The 52-year-old was shot dead at his residence in Kiev on Wednesday evening.
“West should pay attention to the political killings in Ukraine instead of the rhetoric of sanctions against Russia,” said Konstantin Kosachev, the Head of the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States.
Former Prime Minister of Ukraine, Mykola Azarov, said he blamed Kiev authorities for the murder of Oleh Kalashnikov.
“Terrible and bitter news came yesterday. Kiev regime has committed yet another shameful crime. Killed a prominent opposition politician Oleh Kalashnikov,” Azarov wrote on his Facebook page, noting that the victim was” a true patriot of Ukraine “honest and a decent man.”
The former Ukrainian Prime Minister appealed to the leaders of the Western countries, “because of your support in Ukraine there are political murders, terror taking place against political opponents, and all the people. What else should these Nazis do, for you to finally understand and be aware of your responsibility for what is happening now in Ukraine?” said Azarov.
Earlier three former lawmakers close to the ousted leader Viktor Yanukovych were found dead in Ukraine in February and March.

Man indicted in US for allegedly smuggling drug bags Senatorial post in Nigeria - AP
This is an exclusive report by Associated Press and it’s about PDP Chieftain, Buruji Kashamu. Read the report below…
A man indicted in America for allegedly smuggling heroin, in a court case that was the basis for the TV hit “Orange Is The New. Black,” has been elected a senator in Nigeria. Buruji Kashamu was little known before he returned home in 2003 from Britain despite a U.S. extradition order to become a major financier of President Jonathan’s party.
Election results posted late Wednesday identify Kashamu as a senator-elect in southwest Ogun state. Opponents are challenging his victory in court, saying ballots were rigged.
White-Washing Terrorism ? B'Haram Terrorist leader makes TIME Most Influential People list
This is not a joke? Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau made TIME magazine 2015 Most Influential People list. You may be surprised and ask Why is a terrorist in this list?
President elect Buhari really needs to be prepared for this because that as only one meaning. They are about to start white-washing terrorism to use against the president elect if in any case he refuses to dance to their shoes. ( Number on the list is, he already started talking about building nukes to power the country’s dead Electricity).
Below is what TIME wrote about Shekau..
Most Americans do not yet recognize his name, but the citizens of Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country, know Abubakar Shekau all too well: he is the most violent killer their country has ever seen. Shekau took over the terrorist organization Boko Haram in 2009 after the group had been weakened by Nigerian government forces. Shekau, who is believed to be in his 30s, began to stage increasingly daring kidnapping and killing raids on schools, churches and mosques thought by Boko Haram to be violating their interpretation of Islam.
The taking of over 200 schoolgirls in April 2014 brought Boko Haram into the international spotlight. By most accounts, Boko Haram has killed more than 10,000 people and is spreading into neighboring countries. Shekau’s latest action may finally summon a U.S. response: he has publicly aligned his group with ISIS, the terrorist group that holds territory in Syria and Iraq and has expanded its reach into Yemen and Libya.

President GEJ urges world leaders to support incoming administration
President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Thursday in Abuja urged world leaders and international institutions to give their fullest possible support to the incoming Administration of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.
President Jonathan also called on all Nigerians to do their utmost best to help the incoming President succeed in leading the country to greater heights of accomplishment.
At separate audiences with the new ambassadors of France, Senegal and Ethiopia, President Jonathan appealed for patience, understanding and cooperation from all stakeholders in Nigeria, which, he said, General Buhari will need to move the country forward to greater, peace, security and progress. Responding to the commendation of his exemplary concession of victory in the Presidential elections by the new ambassadors, President Jonathan said that he acted out of his abiding conviction that the unity, well-being and progress of Nigeria must supersede all personal ambitions. “Democracy has to be nurtured to grow.
Strong democratic institutions are the backbone and future of our democracy. They must be protected and nurtured. As for me, as a matter of principle, it is always the nation first. “You need to have a nation before you can have an ambition. It should always be the nation first. You don’t have to scuttle national progress for personal ambition. “Since I assumed duty, I have been involved in quelling political crisis in some African countries and I know what they passed through and what some are still going through.
If you scuttle a system for personal ambition, it becomes a collective tragedy,’’ President Jonathan declared. Speaking with the new French ambassador, Mr. Denis Guaer, President Jonathan urged France to extend the support and assistance it gave to his administration to General Buhari’s government. “President Francois Hollande was our guest in Nigeria during the celebration of Nigeria’s centenary.
He has been very supportive of the country in the fight against terrorism. I expect that the same warmth and goodwill will be extended to the incoming government. I expect that France will continue to work with the new administration, especially on issues of terrorism. “The United Nations has been supportive as well. Our troops, supported by regional forces, have done very well in fighting the terrorists in recent times.
What we need now is support to help our people get back their lives,’’ he said. The ambassadors commended President Jonathan for setting a record of humility, patriotism and courage in safeguarding the democratic process in Nigeria and Africa. “Nigeria is not only an economic power in the world today, but also a great democratic example.
And it is all by your effort, Mr. President. The last elections and your response was truly a great achievement and you will always be remembered for it,” the French ambassador told the President. Mr. Guaer, the new Ambassador of Senegal, Mr. Baboucar Sambe and the new Ambassador of Ethiopia, Samia Zekaria Gutu who were at the Presidential Villa to present their letters of credence to President Jonathan, also assured him that they will do their best to strengthen relations between Nigeria and their countries during their tenure.

Nigeria faces cash crunch - NOI
In a meeting with CNN’s Richard Quest, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the economy, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala said this will be a troublesome year for Nigeria monetarily due to the money crunch we are encountering, however said with the monetary resources the current organization has possessed the capacity to manufacture throughout the years, our income will enhance over the long haul.
“Under this administration we began the work of truly diversifying the economy and the proof of that is that much of the growth in this past few years that has come to the country has come not from the oil sector but actually from non-oil sectors like Agriculture, telecommunications, manufacturing, the creative industries. The fact that oil prices fell by 50% makes it very difficult in terms of cash flow but Nigeria is asset rich and that is why when people say the country is broke I say no.
In economic terms, with the kind of assets we have we should be able to realize some of them to improve our cash flow but it is true that this will be a very difficult year because of the cash crunch. However we need to see this drop in oil prices as an opportunity. I gave a talk on Nigeria beyond oil. I really think with the growth of the country based on non-oil sectors, we ought to see the fall in oil prices as an opportunity to further the diversification that has started under this administration” she said
