Brutal ISIL Executioner turns out as Norwegian Citizen
According to reports in Norway, the Islamic State executioner who was caught on camera earlier this year decapitating a man on a street in Raqqa, Syria is a Norwegian national.
The Islamic State fighter who was filmed earlier this year decapitating a man on the street in the Syrian city of Raqqa, goes by the name of Abu Shahrazaad al-Narwegi, meaning ‘from Norway’ in Arabic, reports the Norwegian newspaper Dagblatt, which quotes sources in Syria. The Norwegian authorities told the newspaper they “have no comment on this matter.”The newspaper reports that more than 70 Norwegians have traveled to Syria to fight for one of the radical groups taking part in the country’s civil war, according to the country’s security services. Of those, at least ten have been killed fighting in Syria, and around 20 have returned to Norway.
One of those traveling to Syria has been identified as Bastian Alexis Vasquez, a 25-year-old of Norwegian and Chilean descent from the town of Skien, who came to police attention after he released a video in 2011 where he criticized Norway’s military efforts in Afghanistan. According to the Norwegian press, Vasquez has since made his way to Syria, where he goes by the name of Abu Safiyya, and acts as an intermediary for the Islamic State.
In a recent interview with Sweden’s newspaper Expressen, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said he had information that “the most dangerous leaders of the Islamic State in our region are Scandinavian.” According to Lieutenant General Kjell Grandhagen from the Norwegian intelligence services, some Norwegians have risen to “middle management functions” within the Islamic State. One of those holding a leadership position is believed to be a Norwegian Eritrean from Skien, on Norway’s south coast, who became an Islamic State commander last summer.
23.04.2015 Ukraine Civil war Crisis News. War in Ukraine, Kiev, Novorossia, DPR, Yemen
Donetsk People Republic officially registered 32 ceasefire violations by Ukrainian troops over the past 24 hours. Kiev forces shelled the settlements of Spartak, Zhabichevo, Shirokino, Gorlovka, Yelenovka and Nizhnelozovoye, as well as the Donetsk airport area.
Also, there are unconfirmed reports about clashes in Peski last night. However, Kiev hasn’t achieved any advantage by systematically violating the ceasefire. The heroic Ukrainian military remains afraid of face-to-face fighting with the DPR militia. It’s time for the so-called ‘Western partners’ of Ukraine to understand Kiev can’t impose its power in Novorossia with artillery fire.
Thousands of coal miners from eastern Ukraine have taken to the streets in Kiev, protesting the closure of coal mines and demanding salary debts payed. The rally began in front of parliament and the presidential administration building Wednesday morning, with a group of miners managing to break inside the administration. Eventual talks with government representatives brought no result and the protesters relocated to the government headquarters, blocking traffic at central Kreschatik Street. The miner’s unions said 5,000 people took part in the protest. They banged hardhats on the pavement, chanting “Shame on you” and “Where’s our money?”. The miners promised to organize nationwide strikes if their demands are ignored by the Ukrainian authorities.
The United States on Wednesday accused Russia of deploying air defense systems and participating in training exercises of the Novorossian Armed Forces inside the Novorossia region. “This is the highest amount of Russian air defense equipment in eastern Ukraine since August,” State Department spokesperson Marie Harf said in a statement. She said the increasingly complex nature of the training exercises “leaves no doubt that Russia is involved.” Apparently the State Department believes that the big bad rebels can’t even wind up a battle-tank without help from Russian special forces. Okay.
Meanwhile, the US-backed Saudi coalition has helped us grasp the essential feature of US statements. On Wednesday, coalition warplanes bombed Yemen despite an official announcement that the air strike campaign has ended. These latest hostilities illustrate that if states believe spurious statements from the US or its allies, they will get into the big trouble.
Russia and Argentina Sign Energy Deals Worth Billions
Russia and Argentina signed agreements which amounted to an “all-encompassing strategic partnership” during Argentine President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner’s visit to Moscow.
Russia and Argentina signed a number of deals on developing hydroelectric, nuclear and fossil-based energy and announced intentions to use each other’s currencies in trade.
The memorandums are a massive breakthrough for economic relations between Russia and Argentina. Russian President Putin called the negotiations rich and fruitful.
“There were important long-term deals made in economic and political spheres. Russia and Argentina are entering a new stage of cooperation,” the head of Argentina’s Foreign Ministry Timerman Hector told Sputnik.
Argentine President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner said the two sides agreed to conduct thorough consultations on using national currencies in trade calculations instead of US dollars.
Argentina’s New Power SourcesA $2 billion memorandum was signed to build a new hydroelectric dam and will consider switching to national currencies for mutual deals. Russia’s VEB bank will provide $1.2 billion of the total investments needed, 35 percent of which will be used to pay Argentine subcontractors.
In addition, Russia will provide Argentina with access to Russian nuclear power technology. The deal will be prepared by the end of the year. The head of Russian nuclear power plant company Rosatom declined to give an estimate to the deals, saying that one bloc costs “billions of dollars.”
“Rosatom has joined the project to build the sixth bloc of the Atucha nuclear power plant,” Putin said.
New Prospects for Oil and GasRussian energy giant Gazprom signed a memorandum to explore and develop gas fields with Argentine state gas company YPF. The deal may amount to $1 billion in investments according to Argentina’s Minister of Industry.
Russian company Uralmash will also construct a plant which will manufacture oil extraction equipment, which will amount to an additional $1.9 billion in Russian investments.
“Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner was greeted very warmly in Russia. Vladimir Putin was welcomed in Argentina the same way. This is another confirmation of the high level of mutual understanding between our countries,” a commentator on Argentina’s state television, Tico Rodriguez Paz, told Sputnik.
Diplomatic UnderstandingPutin also said that Russia and Argentina will cooperate in the military-technical sphere and pledged to accelerate the construction of GLONASS satellite navigation systems in Argentina.
In the mutual statement, Kirchner and Putin agreed that the situation in Ukraine can only be solved by peaceful means. Putin added that Russia supports Argentina in the Malvinas (Falkland) Islands dispute.
“Russia supports Argentina’s striving for direct talks with Britain to achieve prompt resolution to the Malvinas Islands dispute,” Putin added.
The Eurasian Economic Union and the Latin American MERCOSUR bloc also plan to sign a cooperation memorandum.
Liberland Set to Become New Hong Kong: Prosperous and Wealthy!
Liberland, Europe’s tiniest, newest country, has no intention of joining the EU, NATO or any other political or military alliances, but eyes joining some free trade zone as a full-fledged member of the international community, Vít Jedlicka, the President of the state, shared his thoughts on the country’s future with Radio Sputnik.
The president envisages his country as something like Hong Kong; he thinks he and his team are able to turn a piece of rock into something miraculous in about 20-40 years: a place of prosperity and great wealth.
“No way we will join the EU or NATO, it would not allow us to have our own taxes and law regulation because the EU sets minimum standards for taxes and they are pretty high at the moment,” he added.
“With regards to NATO, we are not considering it at all, as our dream is to be a neutral country, just like Switzerland or Austria,” Jedlicka said. However, the head of state is very keen to apply to the European Free Trade agreement, which he finds a much better solution. That will give the state totally open borders to goods from everywhere in the world.
The head of the state confirmed that 250, 000 people have registered for citizenship in the country.
“We are not a micronation any longer,” he stated. “We will be ten times larger, if we let all the citizens in there, than, for example, Monaco.”
“Micronations might be the factor which will make this world a little bit more free,” he said. “Micronations are going to challenge this establishment of things at the moment and there might be a solution to an ever-growing government and ever-increasing state.”
The president also shared some of the hurdles he and his team are trying to overcome.
“We are starting this country from scratch,” he said.“So, we ‘ve go a team of lawyers who are thinking of all the important treaties we need to sign to be part of the international community. We are solving the problems with the borders; we need to find a way to trade freely with our neighbors and [settle] other important law issues.”

He also shared how he’d come up with the idea of creating a new country.
“We couldn’t change the political climate in Czech Republic, where we have very high taxes and lots of regulations and also a lot of misuse of public money,” he said. “For example, a golf course is being built [with] public money from European [contributions], private hotels are being built from public money, we are also forced to pay for it. We are paying direct taxes, indirect taxes — it is all over your life, it is more than 60% of what you actually make if you a regular employee in Czech Republic.”
“But I won’t be a taxpayer in Czech Republic because I would stay more than half of a year in Liberland,” he added.
President Jedlicka also explained how the registration process works.“[My] first idea was to let people send their registration forms by e-mail, which was not a really great idea, we got overflowed with e-mails. So, we stopped that and today we are going to release an official form. You can apply for citizenship, but the registration process will take some time. You can register but if you don’t have the means to help us directly right now, then you have to wait a long time before you get in line.”
He also mentioned that some companies are already waiting in line to get into Liberland, such as, for example information business that want to move in at the very beginning, or a telecom company which wants to make a fast internet here.
For now, he said, “the official languages are Czech and English, but we would like to include Serbian and Croatian later on.”
Kirchner Says Seeing Russia as Threat to Global Security ‘Absurd
Argentine President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner stressed that the unipolar world, in which one country’s law is acknowledged to be the only correct law for every country, should be left in the past.
Russia is a major global actor, and presenting Moscow as a threat to global security is “absurd,” Argentine President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner said in an exclusive interview with RT on Thursday.
“Presenting Russia as a threat seems absurd to me,” Kirchner told RT.
Kirchner stressed that the unipolar world, in which one country’s law is acknowledged to be the only correct law for every country, is a thing of the past.
She highlighted that no one can proclaim the “monopoly of friendship,” and Argentina is free to choose strategic partners.
Argentine President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow earlier in the day.
Following the meeting, the two sides have signed a number of strategic cooperation agreements.

In central Kiev, about 400 miners gathered for the second straight day in front of Ukraine’s parliament, protesting over wages owes and demanding reforms in the coal industry, including the removal of Energy Minister Volodymyr Demchyshyn, Ukraine’s Vesti reports. The miners’ protest, whose actions included kneeling to the ground and demonstratively hitting their helmets against the asphalt, included slogans demanding that authorities “Stop the destruction of the coal industry,” “Pay what you owe!” and the statement “The energy industry must be managed by professionals.”
Thursday’s protests marked the second day of demonstrations; on Wednesday over 1,000 miners gathered for a series of demonstrations in front of parliament, the cabinet of ministers, and the presidential administration, demanding the payment of wages and pensions.
The cabinet of ministers responded to the protests by stating that 300 million hryvnia (about $17.7 million) has already been transferred to cover back pay, with another 100 million ($4.42 million) on the way. With at least 600 million hryvnia still owed to the miners, head of the Coal Industry Trade Union Viktor Turmanov said that the money which has been paid thus far amounted merely to “a handout” compared to what is owed.
Ukrainian media have been explaining that as a result of the conflict in the Donbass, Ukraine has lost a majority of its coal industry, including the most lucrative mines. Those mines that remain under Kiev’s control are involved mostly in unprofitable mining, with many operating at a loss. Lacking the funds to maintain them, Kiev plans to close 12 of 32 mines located in the Donbass region. On Tuesday, miners held a congress in Kiev where they agreed on the demand for Demchyshyn’s resignation, and on the creation of an organ to deal with crisis situations in the coal industry.
Protests Spread Across Kiev and Kiev Region
Ukrainian media have reported several thousand unknown people gathering in front of Ukraine’s parliament alongside the protesting miners. Who exactly the protesters are remains unclear. They are carrying Ukrainian flags, with banners reading “Peace and Justice” also seen in the crowd; some of the protesters have covered their faces with white balaclavas; the protesters carried a large banner reading “We Have Had Enough”
Ukrainian authorities have estimated that the protesters, who have reduced the flow of traffic along several central city streets, numbered about 2,000 persons, adding that the perimeter to the parliament has been surrounded by security services.
Alongside the miners and the unknown protesters, about 200 farmers and municipal government representatives also came out in front of the Rada, protesting lawmakers’ foot-dragging on a bill aimed at the decentralization of land ownership. Municipal representatives gathered to demand financial independence from regional and federal authorities.
Another smaller action is taking place in the Kiev region, just outside the capital, with about 50 protesters spilling onto one of the main highways comprising the Kiev ring road. Local police are attempting to bring the situation under control, demanding that protesters carry out their protest along guidelines provided for by law and not to disturb public order. Russia’s RIA Novosti has reported that the citizens’ protest is aimed at bringing attention to problems of corruption in the region.
Kiev’s Ministry of Internal Affairs has released a press statement saying that “movement on the highway has been partially shut down.” In addition to crowd control, an investigative group has been dispatched to the area to record offenses by the protesters.
On Wednesday, several hundred protesters gathered in front of the US Embassy in Kiev, carrying posters saying “USA thanks for WAR” and “We are Not Cattle”, holding pictures of eastern cities damaged by war and burning a picture of US Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland. Protesters demanded that the US stop interfering in Ukraine’s internal affairs.
