Suicidal father jumps into the River with his 7 month old son

Police have ended their initial search for the body of a 7-month-old who may have plunged into the Connecticut River when his suicidal father jumped off the Arrigoni Bridge in Middletown late Sunday night.

Police said the baby's father, Tony Moreno, 22, of Middletown, called someone threatening suicide before jumping into the river around 11:45 p.m. Sunday. That person dialed 911 and told officers Moreno's baby boy, Aaden, was making noises in the background.

Police in Ekiti State has arrested the Iyaloja of Ado Ekiti, Chief Mrs Waye Osho for allegedly collecting a sum of N93,860,000 from market men and women in the State. The embattled Iyaloja illegally allocated 4,940 spaces to build shops at Awedele market, Ado Ekiti.

Marie Fatayi-Williams remembers son she lost on 7/7 terror attack in London


Today marks the 10th anniversary of the London 7/7 bombings in which 52 people were killed in four terror attacks. Anthony Fatayi-Williams, then 26, an oil executive from Hendon, north-west London was one of the victims. On the morning of July 7 2005, he set off as usual for his office in Old Street, central London, but his journey was disrupted by the chaos caused by the earlier bombings on three Tube trains and he helped point other commuters in the right direction before getting on the ill-fated bus 30. His mother, Marie Fatayi-Williams remembered him in an emotional and poignant tribute.

Meet the Woman claimed and named world's oldest person at 116

At 116 years old, Susannah Mushatt Jones of Brooklyn, New York is now officially the world's oldest living person.

Born on July 6, 1899, Jones became the record holder on June 17, 2015 at the age of 115 years and 346 days, Guinness Book of World Records confirmed to ABC News today.

The National Vice Chairman of PDP South-South Zone, Dr. Cairo Ojugbou, says Nigerians will beg PDP to return to power in 2019. According to Punch, Dr Ojugbou said this at the party's zonal secretariat in Port Harcourt today while speaking on the crisis rocking APC and the national Assembly. He said the recent crises in the APC shows the party lacked ideology and coordination.

Jos bomb blast: Plateau governor calls for return of checkpoints in the state

Plateau state governor, Simon Lalong has called for the return of security checkpoints in the state. The governor made the call while visiting victims of the twin bomb blast that rocked Jos yesterday July 5th.

"Today I have made an appeal to Mr President to allow us go back to our checkpoints. Allow the security to go back. Without security, people can come from all angle to start attacking innocent people" Gov Lalong said
On June 23rd, President Buhari ordered the removal of checkpoints nationwide.

A female suicide bomber this evening blew herself up after a failed attempt to attack a mosque in Kano. The state Police commissioner confirmed the incident but says the police is yet to ascertain if there were other casualties...

Lobatan: Woman does nothing while her son is handcuffed, beaten for eating birthday cake without permission

A Maryland man was arrested, accused of beating his girlfriend's son for eating birthday cake without permission, according to police.

Hagerstown police say this past Tuesday, the juvenile victim was handcuffed and severely beaten by Wilson, who is dating the boy's mother. The boy reportedly had numerous bruises, contusions and abrasions to different parts of his body.

The guy's name is Pam...and according to reports, he was allegedly beaten by men of the Special Task Force, STF in Jos last week at the ATM where he went to make some withdrawals. He was allegedly attacked after a misunderstanding with the soldiers who were also there to get some cash. STF media officer Capt. Ikedichi Iweha has waded into the matter and the victim is receiving treatment in a private hospital.

7-year-old boy killed by bullet 'meant for his dad'

A seven-year-old boy – said to be the child of a gang leader – was among eight people killed and more than 40 injured in a weekend of violence that has left Chicago reeling.

Police officials said Amari Brown (pictured above) was killed by a bullet meant for his father, Antonio Brown, as the family returned from an Independence Day celebration on the West Side of the city. He was hit in the right side of the chest just before midnight on Saturday July 4th.
