ThisDay editor allegedly receives threat mail from Boko Haram

A features editor with Thisday newspapers, Adeola Akinremi reportedly received a threat mail from members of the insurgency group, Boko Haram over his anti-Boko Haram articles. Akinremi received the threat mail in May after his visit to Adamawa state to investigate the plight of Internally Displaced Persons and the activities of the sect in the state. Akinremi afterwards wrote a piece titled, Why Boko Haram don’t deserve our amnesty?.

Former Gombe state gov, Senator Goje expelled from APC, accused of anti-party activities

Former governor of Gombe state and now serving Senator Danjuma Goje has been expelled by his party, APC over allegations of engaging in anti-party activities and forming parallel executive in the state. His expulsion was made known by the Gombe state APC Chairman, Magaji Doho at the party secretariat in the state today July 7th.

Money laundering: Court orders forfeiture of properties of companies linked with Ex- Gov Nnamani to FG

Justice Mohammed Yinusa of the Federal High Court, Lagos today July 8, 2015 convicted four companies associated with former governor of Enugu State, Chimaroke Nnamani and ordered that their properties be forfeited to the Federal Government.  The four companies are Rainbownet Nigeria Limited, Cosmos FM, Capital City Automobile Nigeria Limited and Renaissance University Teaching Hospital

Police to begin stop and search on roads and highways nationwide


Sequel to intelligence report, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Solomon E. Arase NPM, fdc has directed the commencement of special stop and search on Roads and Highways nationwide, with emphasis on roads in and out of major cities/towns. Citizens are enjoined to bear with the Nigeria Police Force during this security operation which is a temporary measure put in place to address the intelligence received. The special security measure, stop and search is in no way a return of roadblocks. Any unprofessional conduct should be reported at www.stopthe bribes.net or nearest Police Station. The general public is advised to cooperate with Police operatives by providing answers to questions that may be asked as well as allowing their vehicles to be searched.

Increased BH attacks: Nigerians wanted change, they must live with the consequences - FFK


Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode says he is not surprised by the increased spate of Boko Haram attacks in Nigeria. US Senator Urges to 'Meet With Force' Crimean Reunification With Russia

A US Senator, attending the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly session in Helsinki, accused Russia of "violating the territorial integrity of an OSCE member state" and called for the use of force "to end the Russian aggression against Ukraine", US media reported Tuesday.


In an interview with the Russian service of Voice of America, Senator Roger Wicker described Crimea’s reunification with Russia as “aggression by Moscow” and “annexation by a powerful state” of the territory of another country, which is a member of the Organization of Security and Cooperation in Europe.

Aftermath of Kaduna Bomb blast, Govornor El Rufai bans beggars, road hawkers


Taking after the bomb impact at Sabongari area in Kaduna state today, the state representative, Nasir El Rufai has banned beggars and road sellers in the state. The order is contained in an statement released by his media associate Samuel Aruwan. See that bellow.

A few photographs from the scene of the bomb impact that happened in Dagorara secretariat in Sabongari territory in Kaduna state toward the beginning of today. A female suicide bomber secured in a veil and carrying a sack arrived the secretariat minutes before the assault. 25 individuals have been affirmed dead while 32 were injured. The photographs are extremely realistic. If you don’t mind make an effort to remain cautioned. See the pics bellow.

20 Persons, 25 Cows Die in Kogi Road Accident Caused by Robbers


No fewer than 20 persons were killed on Monday in an early morning crash around Irepeni, along Abuja-Lokoja-Okene highway. About 25 cows were also killed in the incident. Vanguard gathered that the accident was caused by a road block mounted by armed robbers along Irepeni axis of the highway. The robbers were said to have fled the scene afterwards.

Governor of Kaduna state Nasir El Rufai visited injured victims of the Sabongari bomb blast incident who are receiving treatment at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital. He has released a statement regarding the blast.

A 100 level student of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Saviour Okusenogu, has emerged winner in a science competition organised by Microsoft Corporation.

Okusenogu, an Electrical/Electronic Engineering student, is one of the 10 winners in the ‘Microsoft Youthspark Challenge for Change’ contest held recently.

APC crisis will end soon – Tambuwal

Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, on Tuesday expressed the belief that the crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress as a result of the leadership row in the National Assembly would soon be over.

Tambuwal, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, is heading one of the committees set up to find amicable settlement to the crisis.

University of Ibadan emerges Nigeria’s best varsity


The 2015 positioning of African universities and higher institutions has put the University of Ibadan as the best in Nigeria and eighth in Africa. The Journals Consortium directed the positioning, which included 1,447 African colleges and higher organizations.


The center of the ranking was on reserahc distributions, references from last five years and perceivability on the Internet. South African establishments overwhelmed the top 10 in the ranking, with the University of Cape Town coming 1st, accumulating 45.02 points . Cairo University, with 43.43 pounts, came next while the University of Pretoria, South Africa, came third.


Ovarall, South Africa has six institutions in the top 10 while Egypt has two. Nigeria and Kenya have one college each in the top 10 rankings.


The University of Nigeria, Nsukka was positioned second in Nigeria and thirteenth in Africa while the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, was positioned eighteenth in Africa. The University of Lagos positioned twentieth on the table, while the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, positioned 24th.


The only private university from Nigeria on the table is Covenant University which ranked 53rd on the continent. The UI Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Adewole, in his response to the positioning, said the vision of the university, was for it to be a centre for academic fabulousness.


He said the school would not unwind in its commitments to research, showing and other academic activities.
