DSS detains former president Jonathan's Chief Security Officer

There are reports that the DSS has detained the Chief Security Officer to former President Jonathan, Gordon Obua. According to a report by Punch, Obua was arrested and detained on Thursday July 16 as part of measures by the new administration to probe officials who worked under GEJ’s. FORMER President Olusegun Obasanjo Friday said the perceived failure of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan in office amounted to a betrayal of the collective aspiration of the South-South geopolitical zone.
He also noted that Jonathan’s record in the estimation of Nigerians, would hunt the zone for a long time.

Armed Robbers Write Lagos Communities, Demand ₦30 Million

Residents of Ajao Estate on Airport Road, Lekki Phase 1 and Ikosi GRA, Lagos are no longer sleeping with their two eyes closed, since they received a letter from suspected armed robbers, who advised them to organize the sum of N30 million and keep for them.
The letter was dated June 30th 2015 and is unsigned. It was pasted at the gates of private homes of three residents of the affected communities.

The South African border authorities had on September 5, 2014 seized $9.3 million meant for the procurement of arms for the Nigerian military, from two Nigerians and an Israeli who arrived the country in a private jet.

A civil rights organisation, Vanguards of Nigeria’s Democracy, on Saturday raised the alarm over clandestine moves by President Muhammadu Buhari to “investigate, malign and imprison” former President Goodluck Jonathan on trumped-up charges.

The VND specifically accused the President and his All Progressives Congress-led administration of “unsavoury and patently repugnant action,” which it said, were anti-Niger Delta and against the Ijaw ethnic nationality.
