After the Political “higi haga”, Senate finally Screens Amaechi As Minister
The Senate on Thursday screened previous Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, after his assignment as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by President Muhammadu Buhari. Amaechi was the first of six candidates slated for screening on Thursday. He spent around 50 minutes simply answering question verging on different issues, including his claimed prosecution by a board by the Rivers State Government for corruption, demanding that he was never arraigned.
The Chairman of the Senate Ethics board of trustees, Mr Chris Anyanwu, presented the report that postponed Amaechi’s screening on three events. Likewise screened on Thursday was Heineken Lokpobiri, who is a previous member from the upper administrative chamber and Claudius Omoyele Daramola, an academic. Additionally screened by the Senate is Baba Shehuri Mustapha, who was in the House of Representatives, speaking to the Maiduguri Metropolitan Constituency. Mr Mustapha answered questions on enhancing local government administration in the Country..
Others set to be screened are Ocholi Onojo James and Adewole Isaac Folorunsho.

Amaechi Is Our Member, The Senate Belongs To APC Not PDP – Ndume
ABUJA — AHEAD of today’s screening of former Governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi; Senate Majority Leader, Senator Ali Ndume, yesterday, lampooned senators elected on the platform of his former party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, saying that the 8th Senate belongs to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
According to him, the PDP should note that it has become a minority, a situation where the majority would always have its way, warning that PDP cannot disqualify Amaechi based on what he described as triviality instead of the constitution. He added that Amaechi has not been convicted by any court of law.
Lawyer Begs Saraki To Enter Dock At The Tribunal
The dock is where those standing trial stay during proceedings.
Saraki’s refusal to leave his seat for the dock led to an argument between his lead counsel, Mahmud Magaji (SAN), and the prosecutor, Rotimi Jacobs (SAN).
Objecting to Saraki’s action, Jacobs said it was the practice for an accused “irrespective” of his status to enter the dock during his trial.

Political Moves To Save Saraki’s Job Crumble - Punch
The last-minute attempt to save Saraki was said to have been spearheaded by some leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress but the efforts crumbled because of the conditions which Saraki had found impossible to satisfy.

Why #Nigeria should be rearranged along Ethnolinguistic lines
By Ifa Dare
NGR youths often ask me why I think NGR should be rearranged along ethnolinguistic lines. But what I’ve come to realize is that those who consistently ask me this question do not understand the nature of reality.
Fundamentally, the nature of reality is the nature of observation. In other words, if you cannot define what you observe, you cannot define and process reality. For example, let’s assume you just saw a red dot on the wall, but the words “red” and “dot” are not defined in your language; so, how do you define and process what you just saw? How do you even describe what you just saw?
Anyway, the only tool that’s adapted for defining and processing reality is a language. This is why in a programming language, every function or object is defined; and similarly, in the language of Ifa, every Odu is defined.
Consequently, if you lose your language in your own land or if you adopt a foreign language in your own land, it’s absolutely impossible for you to define and process your reality, and it’s absolutely impossible to build a civilization. For example, in the Yoruba language, “Esu” (i.e. a Yoruba diety) is defined as a principal Orisa with many positive attributes. However, in the Anglo-Christian language, “Esu” is portrayed as the devil. In other words, “Esu” has been negatively transformed right before our eyes. And it’s this negative transformation that “Esu” has undergone that the Nigerian reality is currently undergoing.
Ladies and gentlemen, without English language, NGR cannot exist as a unitary entity. And with English language, Nigerians and their realities are being negatively transformed every day. Look around you!
The only way to punctuate this negative transformation is to rearrange NGR along ethnolinguistic lines so as to enable the people to use their respective indigenous languages to define and process their realities.
No people in the history of the world have ever built a civilization using a foreign language as their medium of communication.

U.S's permanent Puppet, Qatar Threatens Military Intervention in Syria
Throughout Syria’s bloody civil war, the government of Qatar has been an active supporter of anti-government militants, providing arms and financial backing to so called "rebels." Many of these, like the al-Nusra Front, were directly linked to al-Qaeda. That strategy has, of course, done little to put a dent in terrorist organizations in the region.
Ghana Plans to Do away with colonial language as a medium of instruction in schools
The country’s Minister of Education, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, laid the blame mostly on the inability of the educated working class to develop the nation to the language used in teaching them in schools, GhanaWeb reported.
Prof. Agyeman, who was speaking at the Shared Prosperity on Forum on Friday said she was determined to push through the language policy at the highest level so that pupils can be taught in their mother tongue. She expressed confidence in that removing English as the medium of instruction would “change this country”.
World Photo Of The Day: Vladimir Putin & Bashar al-Assad meet in Moscow
Vladimir Putin: Mr President,
Let me wish you a warm welcome to Moscow. Despite the dramatic situation in your country, you have responded to our request and come here to Russia, and we thank you for this.
We took the decision upon your request to provide effective aid to the Syrian people in fighting the international terrorists who have unleashed a genuine war against Syria. The Syrian people has been practically alone in putting up resistance and fighting these international terrorists for several years now, and has suffered great losses. Lately though, there have been some major positive results in this fight.
The attempts by international terrorists to bring whole swathes of territory in the Middle East under their control and destabilise the situation in the region raise legitimate concerns in many countries around the world. This is a matter of concern for Russia too, given that sadly, people from the former Soviet Union, around 4,000 people at least, have taken up arms and are fighting on Syrian territory against the government forces. Of course, we cannot let these people gain combat experience and go through ideological indoctrination and then return to Russia.
On the question of a settlement in Syria, our position is that positive results in military operations will lay the base for then working out a long-term settlement based on a political process that involves all political forces, ethnic and religious groups. Ultimately, it is the Syrian people alone who must have the deciding voice here.
Syria is Russia’s friend and we are ready to make our contribution not only to the military operations and the fight against terrorism, but also to the political process. We would do this, of course, in close contact with the other global powers and with the countries in the region that want to see a peaceful settlement to this conflict.
Once again, I wish you welcome, Mr President.
President of Syria Bashar al-Assad (retranslated): Thank you very much, Mr President.
First of all, I want to express our tremendous gratitude to the Russian leadership and people for the help they are providing Syria. Thank you for supporting Syria’s unity and independence. Most important of all is that this is being done within the framework of international law.
I must say that the political steps the Russian Federation has been taking since the start of the crisis made it possible to prevent events in Syria from taking an even more tragic turn. If it were not for your actions and decisions, the terrorism that is spreading through the region now would have made even greater gains and spread to even wider territories. You have confirmed your course of action by joining in the military operations as part of a common front in the fight against terrorism.
Of course, we all know that any military action must be followed by political steps. Of course, our common goal is to bring about the vision the Syrian people have of their own country’s future.
We must be particularly aware that military strikes against the terrorists are essential above all because we must fight terrorism, and also because terrorism is a real obstacle on the road to reaching a political settlement. Of course, the entire nation wants to take part in deciding the country’s fate, and not just the government.
I want to thank the Russian people once more for the help you are giving Syria and express the hope that we will vanquish terrorism and continue working together to rebuild our country economically and politically and ensure peaceful life for everyone.
