FCT Election Is A Shame, PDP Says

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the just concluded Federal Capital Territory (FCT) area councils election as a shame, saying that the federal government, officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security operatives manipulated the elections in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ahead of the May 21 National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, indications have emerged that the party has zoned the positions of president and vice president to the North and South East, respectively.

By the zoning arrangement, while the North will retain the seat of the Senate President, the South South will produce the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the national chairman of the party.

Japan earthquake: 8-month-old baby pulled out alive from collapsed building


A video footage shojapaws the moment an eight-month-old girl is pulled out alive from a collapsed building following a devastating earthquake in Japan. Rescue workers can be seen gently lifting the baby out of the rubble and then rushing her into a waiting ambulance and taken to hospital.


It was a moment of light relief for the country following the magnitude 6 tremor which killed at least nine people and injuring hundreds, local media said.

Nike Azeez pictured above, the landlady in Ijegun community of Lagos state, who set the room of one of her tenants Adeleke Shakiru on fire on Tuesday April 12th, just to eject him from her compound , has been declared wanted by the Lagos state police command. Nike who fled her home with her children after she committed the crime, is presently at large. However her husband, Jamiu has been arrested and is now at the Isheri police station.

Oshiomhole’s aide arraigned for publishing a post on FB against the governor and unlawful possesion of arms


A Senior Special Assistant on Media to Edo state governor Adams Oshiomhole, Curtis Eghosa Ugbo, has been arraigned before an Oredo Magistrate Court for allegedly publishing an article online against Oshiomole. According to The Nation, 47 year old Curtis was also arraigned for unlawful possession of firearms. Court papers states that Curtis's article against Oshiomole was published on April 10th and had the caption,

I share your pains- Buhari assures parents of Chibok girls

President Buhari has assured parents and relations of the kidnapped Chibok girls that he frequently reflects on the ordeal of the captives in the hands of Boko Haram terrorists and shares the pain of their continued absence from home. Buhari said this in a statement released by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Shehu Garba. Part of the statement reads;


Landlady who set her tenant's apartment on fire has been arrested

Nike Azeez, the landlady who set an apartment on fire to eject her tenant has been arrested. According to the police, she fled to Alakuko area after the incident. Lagos Police command detectives moved in on her and she has been arrested. She will soon be charged to court.

“What is Socialism – an opinion from Vermont”

This whole Bernie thing has got people debating about what socialism is. Is it New Deal liberalism? Scandinavian welfare statism? State communism? Or what?

Let me simplify it for you. Socialism is basically anything run by or paid for by government.

Socialism is what free enterprise needs to operate. You might even call it the operating system for business. Business needs stable government, a strong judiciary to protect property rights and contracts, and good public services for delivery of materials and goods to firms and customers.

Special Assistant To Oshiomhole, Curtis Ugbo Nabbed For Illegal Gun Possession

Curtis Ugbo, a Senior Special Assistant to Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, was on Thursday arraigned before an Oredo Magistrate Court sitting in Benin, for illegal gun possession and an anti-government publication he posted on the internet.

Ugbo, 47, allegedly committed the offence on April 12, at 2B, Ugbor Road, Benin.

The alleged publication which was read in the Court, said: “What is wrong with my boss, the ground breaking of Edo State own cement industry in partnership with private company under government public partnership and stakeholders, no State House member or Speaker and National Assembly member present.”

Counsel to the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), otherwise known as Shiites, wednesday disclosed that the leader of the movement, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, was being detained at the Headquarters of the Department of State Security (DSS) in Abuja.
At a news conference in Kaduna, the IMN counsel led by Mr. Festus Okoye, said El-Zazzaky has lost his left eye while his left hand is partially paralysed, adding that they could hardly recognise him when they met him in detention.

Aluko Reveals How Ekiti Governorship Poll Was Rigged

The embattled former Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Dr. Tope Aluko, has revealed how the rigging of the June 21, 2014 governorship election was perfected inside a hotel barely a week before the poll.
Aluko said sensitive materials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), like ballot papers and result sheets were delivered to PDP chieftains to allow for the manipulation of the poll long before the first ballot was cast.

The Acting Director Defence Information, Brig. Gen. Rabe Abubakar, has said that the military was committed to the rescue of not only the Chibok girls but also all persons held captive by the Boko Haram insurgents.
Abubakar said that the military had rescued over 10,000 captives of the Boko Haram insurgents since the current military leadership was appointed.
He stressed that it was a top priority of the Armed Forces to ensure that the missing girls were rescued.

Top US Firms Hiding Trillions of Dollars in Offshore Funds

Leading poverty charity Oxfam revealed on Thursday that the top 50 biggest companies in the United States have hidden trillions of dollars in offshore funds amounting to more than the GDP of Spain, Mexico and Australia.
