Turkey: War is good for business

Greetings to the Saker community and readers.

In one of Start Trek DS9 episodes, a Ferengi (the ultra-exploiters of the galaxy for the uninitiated) made the following comment: War is good for business; however the closer you are to the frontlines the less your profit.

It appears that this mantra is followed by Turkey, especially when considering the Syrian refugees. In 2013 Syria was estimated to have a total population of around 22 million people. The latest estimates show that between 2.5 and 2.7 million Syrians now live in Turkey

The Time Is Now

The Strategic Culture Foundation, a Moscow-based geopolicy think thank, sponsored a conference in Belgrade, Serbia, on 17 April 2016 entitled “What has ‘democracy’ imported from the West brough to the Former Yugoslavia since 1990?” Among nearly twenty distinguished participants was Andrew Korybko, Sputnik talk show host and frequent commentator on world affairs on RT and other analytical outlets. The conference was opened by Aleksandar Pavich, director of SCF Serbia office, and Anna Filimonova, the head of SCF’s Moscow branch.

A jealous man who decapitated his long-term partner and flushed the head down the toilet at their east London flat has been sentenced to life in prison and must serve a minimum of 21 years.

Dempsey Nibbs, 69, killed Judith Nibbs, his partner of 30 years, after he became angry when she admitted to having affairs.

The crane driver, from the Charles Estate in Hoxton attacked Ms Nibbs with an iron bar in April 2014, the Old Bailey heard. He told jurors he only meant to "slap her around a bit" but she died in a struggle while he was trying to cram a metal bar in her mouth.

According to Nigeria Police News @PoliceNGNews, on April 14, about 10pm, the robbery suspects pictured above, attacked a victim at Isheri Long Bridge, dispossessed him of his belongings and then made a get away on a motorcycle. However, they were knocked down by a moving trailer in front of Mountain of Fire Ministry along Lagos/Ibadan Expressway while being pursued by the police. The suspects were arrested Ibafo Divisional patrol team and recovered items snatched from the victim.

PROFESSOR Itse Sagay, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, is the chairman of the Presidential Committee on Anti-Corruption and one of the country’s foremost experts in constitutional law. FG Provoking Ndigbo Everyday – Ekweremadu

The Deputy Senate President, Chief Ike Ekweremadu, on Sunday accused the President Muhammadu Buhari led government of provoking Ndigbo.

Ekweremadu, representing Enugu West Constituency, said that until the leadership of Nigeria learn to respect Nigbo and ensure that equity and justice prevailed, the country can never be the same.

The Deputy Senate President, who spoke in Enugu while addressing people of Eziagu council area of Enugu State during a solidarity visit, said that despite the contributions of Ndigbo in the development of Nigeria, “we are being provoked everyday by the government of this country”.

 A housewife, Mrs Florence Njideka Chukwuma has been arrested by the police at State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba over an alleged attempt on the life of her husband, Chinedu over a house property in Lagos State, southwestern Nigeria.

Florence allegedly bought a gallon of petrol which she poured on Chinedu’s body, she then took a lighter to set him ablaze during a quarrel.

However, before she could achieve her goal, Chinedu jumped fence and escaped, suffering injuries as a result of the attack.

The family of the late Chief Bola Ige, former Attorney General of the Federation, has announced a N29 million scholarship for indigent students of Osun and Oyo states.

According to the son of the late former attorney general, Mr Olumuyiwa Ige, 66 students have been selected from public schools across the states.

Ige, a former Commissioner in the state, said the students would go through a competitive selection process to choose the best of them.
