Photo: Man stabs girlfriend to death in Ilorin, Kwara State for refusing his marriage proposal

A man allegedly stabbed his girlfriend to death in the Tanke area of Ilorin, Kwara state, on Monday, April 25, for refusing his marriage proposal.

It was gathered that the man, a franchise officer with one of the leading mobile telecommunication operators (MTN) in the area also stabbed his girlfriend's mother when she tried to settle the issue between the two. She sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital where she is receiving treatment.

Ajimobi: No Free Land For Grazing

Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi yesterday criticised the proposed creation of grazing zones across the country as ill-advised.

Men suspected to be cult members have attacked and injured a 42-year-old man, Adewale Omotosho, a member of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), at Shimawa, Ogun State. Omotosho was accused of sleeping with the stepmother of some members of the cult group known as Golden Star.

Banks To Stop Using Their Platforms For TSA As They Issue Threats

Nigeria’s Treasury Single Account (TSA) regime formulated by the Federal Government to shield its resources from pilfering may experience a flop, following hints that lenders are planning to stop the use of their platforms for TSA.

The grouse of the banks is the one percent transaction charge, based on the use of Remita, an e-payment and e-collection software, on their platforms.

From the transaction charge, 10 percent goes to the CBN; 40 percent goes to banks; while 50 percent goes to SystemSpecs.

Anwuli Chikere Withdraws From Moro’s Trial

Anwuli Chikere, justice of the federal high court, Abuja, has withdrawn from the trial of Abba Moro, former minister of interior, citing personal reasons. In March, Justice Chikere granted Moro bail on self-recognition, and had adjourned the case to April 27 for trial. However, as the case was called on Monday, she announced her withdrawal from it. “I am sending it back to the chief judge of the federal high court for reassignment on personal reasons,”Chikere said. “When it is reassigned, the prosecution can go after it.” Moro is accused of defrauding 676,675 job seekers of N676,675,000 in an immigration recruitment exercise that led to the death of at least 20 young Nigerians.

A state released on their official facebook page reads, "The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 arraigned one Arinze Jim Ezetulugo before Justice Dugbo Oghoghore of the Federal High Court Enugu State on a four count charge bordering on conspiracy and granting loan with defective security contrary to Section 17 (4)(a) of the Failed Banks (Recovery of Debts) and Financial Malpractices in Banks Act, Chapter F2 Volume 6, Laws of the federation of Nigeria 2004."
