Below is a statement issued by the Director of Press, Usman Bello: "On behalf His Excellency the Executive Governor of Kano State Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje his Deputy and commissioner of Education Prof Hafiz Abubakar condoles with the families of the students who are involved in accident yesterday along Lagos - Ibadan Express way while on a mission to represent Kano in the National Quiz Competition in Lagos. Information available indicated that 3 students of Unity School Karaye and 3 from Kano Kapital as well as a driver and coordinator of competition lost their lives in the accident. Arrangement is being made to airlift the corpses back to Kano for burial later in the day. Meanwhile Families of the affected students have been duly informed on the unfortunate incidence and the arrangements being made. May Allah grant the souls of the decease Jannatul Firdausi and those who sustain injuries speedy recovery."

Herdsmen Kill Bala Madaki And His Nephew In Kaduna
KADUNA — GUNMEN, suspected to be Fulani herdsmen, on Sunday night, assassinated the District Head of Fadan Karshi, a busy commercial town in Sanga Local Government Area, southern part of Kaduna State.
The murdered District Head, Mr. Bala Madaki, 66, was killed alongside his nephew, Emmanuel Tanko.
According to a community leader in the area, Pastor Mike Makarfi, the violence took place around 10:30pm Sunday night.
