Children’s Day: I Won’t Tolerate Forced Marriage, Child Abduction, Buhari Warns


*Urges stakeholders to rise against violence against children
PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari on Friday, warned against forced marriages and child abduction in the country, noting that every child has the right of education and the right to live. He also noted that decisive actions would be taken to stem what he described as unacceptable cases of violence and intimidation against children.

Jonathan wants Obasanjo, Abdulsalami, Babangida others probed


President Goodluck Jonathan has advised the incoming president, Muhammadu Buhari, not to single his administration out for probe.
He said if Mr. Buhari must investigate him and his administration, he should do the same for the past governments.
A probe centred only on the Jonathan administration will amount to a “witch hunt”, the president said Wednesday at a valedictory cabinet meeting attended by ministers ahead of his handing over to Mr. Buhari on Friday.
Mr. Jonathan said his comments followed calls from different quarters for his administration to be investigated.

Buhari Didn’t Use Public Funds For Presidential Campaign, Stop Calling For Probe

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun has condemned calls for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to probe the funding of President Muhammadu Buhari’s 2015 Presidential campaign.
Oyegun, while speaking on WE FM’s “The Encounter with Constance Ikokwu,” said unlike the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, which used public funds to finance its campaign, APC’s financing of the party’s Presidential campaign came from individual donations, thereby making it wrong to call for a probe.

Hassan Tukur Granted $40m Bail

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has granted administrative bail to Hassan Tukur, the principal secretary to former President Goodluck Jonathan. Tukur had been in detention for several days for allegedly diverting $40 million he obtained to negotiate the release of more than 200 Chibok schoolgirls abducted by Islamist insurgents belonging to Boko Haram. Saharareporters quoted a source as saying that Tukur was detained and interrogated on charges that included his reported pocketing of about $35 million out of $40 million budgeted for negotiating the release of Chibok girls. The source said Tukur was released yesterday, but ordered to report to the EFCC’s headquarters in Abuja whenever he was required to do so.

A student has been hospitalized following a fire outbreak at the Cross River State College of Education, COE Akamkpa female hostel today, May 27.

According to CrossRiverWatch, the fire started at about 11am in the change-over switch at the hostel entrance and caused extensive damage to the building and property of the residents with no immediate help or means of putting off the inferno.

5 Police Officers Missing In Rivers State After Ambush

THE Rivers State Police Command on Friday declared five policemen missing after an ambush by unknown gunmen on Wednesday at Okujagu waterways in Okrika Local Government Area.

The command also announced the arrest of 53 suspects in connection with the missing policemen.

State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ahmad Muhammad, said in a statement that the policemen were part of a team that were on a routine police inquiry when they were attacked before they could disembark from the boat conveying them.

I have recently posted a piece in which I tried to debunk a few popular myths about modern warfare. Judging by many comments which I received in response to this post, I have to say that the myths in question are still alive and well and that I clearly failed to convince many readers. What I propose to do today, is to look at what Russia is really doing in response to the growing threat from the West. But first, I have to set the context or, more accurately, re-set the context in which Russia is operating. Let’s begin by looking at the AngloZionist policies towards Russia.

United Airlines to end their flights to Nigeria after June 30th

After years of operating a daily route from Houston to Lagos, United Airlines will stop flying to Nigeria next month. Their last fight will be on June 30th, ending the airline's only route to Africa. They confirmed this to a twitter user who asked them if it was true.

According to reports, United Airlines is ending their flights to Nigeria for two major reasons asides the one they mentioned above.

ENUGU—The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has accused the North of allegedly raising false alarm that Fulani herdsmen were being killed in the South East in a bid to start another round of slaughtering of southerners in the area.

IPOB said the false allegation of killing of Northerners in the South was being orchestrated by a “faceless Northern Consensus Movement,” pointing out that this style was used by the north to prepare the grounds for the pogrom that followed the January 1966 coup d’état in the country.

Military Vows To Crush Niger Delta Militants


Ootraged at the increasing threat that militants in the Niger Delta posed to the economy, the Nigerian Military declared war on them yesterday.

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Gabriel Olonisakin, the service chiefs from the Nigerian Navy (NN) and the Nigerian Army (NA), Vice Adm. Ibok Ette-Ibas and Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, respectively, made the declaration of war at different military functions in Lagos.

The CDS, who was the guest of honour at the navy’s 60th diamond anniversary in Lagos, said the military would continue its onslaught against militants’ activities in the Niger Delta region and insurgency in the Northeast.

THE House of Representa­tives Committee on Privati­sation yesterday, halted the proposed privatisation of the country’s three refineries by the Nigerian National Petro­leum Corporation (NNPC).

The affected refineries are located in Kaduna, Port-Har­court and Warri. The Com­mittee, which is investigating the move to sell the refineries by the NNPC rather than the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) declared that NNPC violated the provisions of the BPE Act Section 2, 2009.

Mohammed Lawan Buba Appointed As PPRRA Chairman

He disclosed this in Abuja yesterday after a meeting with the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) to review issues involved in the new pump price of petrol recently announced by the federal government.
