Soldiers Arrest 10 Suspected Members Of Niger Delta Avengers, Recover Weapons

The Nigerian Army has arrested 10 suspected members of the militant group, Niger Delta Avengers .

The suspects were said to have been arrested at about 1:40am on Saturday, in Oporaza community, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, following a cordon and search operation conducted in the community.

Several oil installations in the region have been vandalised by militants suspected to be members of the Niger Delta Avengers, threatening the production and supply of oil and gas in the country.

FG And Ex-Militants Meet In Benin Over Niger Delta Avengers

The Federal Government and ex-militants have resolved to end the ongoing pipeline vandalism in the Niger Delta region, an official has said.
Paul Boroh, the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Niger-Delta Matters and Coordinator of the Amnesty Programme, said this at the end of a meeting he convened in Benin.
Mr. Boro, a retired Brigadier General, told journalists on Saturday night that the pipeline vandalism in the Niger-Delta was reducing the economic fortune of the country and inflicting pains on Nigerians. ‎

INEC decleared Toto Federal Constituency Bye-election Inconclusive

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Sunday declared the just concluded Nasarawa/Toto Federal Constituency bye-election inconclusive due to cancellation of votes as a result of over voting.
The Constituency Returning Officer of the election, Wilfred Uji of Federal University, Lafia, Nasarawa State, made this known while the announcing the outcome of the poll in Nasarawa, Nasarawa Local Government Area of the state.

Resurgent militant group, the Niger Delta Avengers has threatened to carry out more devastating attacks on gas pipeline in the region.
The group warned the Nigerian Military, international and indigenous oil companies to watch out for “something big.”

The warning was contained in a statement issued yesterday by the group’s spokesperson, Col Mudoch Agbinibo.

“To the IOCs, indigenous oil companies and Nigerian Military, watch out, something big is about to happen and it will shock the whole world.”

Current New Orleans Pelican player Bryce Dejean -Jones (pictured above) was killed early yesterday morning May 28th in a home in Dallas. Police say he was shot dead while burglarizing the home. ‘Obasanjo Contributed To Lagos Slow Growth,’ Oba Of Lagos Says

The Oba of Lagos, Oba Riliwanu Akiolu, has said that the seizure of Local Government funds by former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration contributed to the slow pace of development in Lagos State.

Akiolu said this at an inaugural lecture, as part of activities for the Lagos State at 50 Anniversary in Lagos on Saturday, May 28, 2016, where he highlighted the history and culture of the state.

It would be recalled that the former President Obasanjo-led administration withheld Lagos state local government funds, following the creation of 36 new local government development areas (LCDAs) in Lagos State.

Pakistan's Islamic council proposes men should be allowed to 'lightly beat' their wives for a variety of offences


Pakistan's 20-member Council of Islamic Ideology has proposed allowing a man to 'lightly beat' his wife if she commits certain 'offences'. The council which is a constitutional body of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan advises the government but cannot make laws.

Amongst its recommendations, it suggests women can be beaten for a raft of offences including refusal to have sex without a religious excuse, failure to bathe after intercourse and periods, for not wearing hijabs, or for speaking so loudly that strangers can hear them.

‘It happens sometimes,’ Australian bank told man who ‘found’ RM363m in his account


Matthew Pearce, a glazier in Melbourne, Australia, woke up in November last year to a notification that his personal bank account’s balance grew to A$123,456,789.01 (RM363 million) overnight.

When he notified the Commonwealth Bank (CommBank) about the mistake, Pearce said a customer service representative just laughed at his story and said, “Oh, that's great.”

According to Pearce, CommBank did not act on his case for two full weeks, and afterwards another bank representative called him to tell him a “glitch in the system and it can happen sometimes”.

Man In India Dupes 90 People (photo)


A 43-year-old Nigerian national, Igwe Festus Abraham, has been arrested in India for allegedly duping over 90 persons across the country, Indian Express reports.

Abraham, a resident of Malviya Nagar in Delhi, was arrested by the cyber-crime cell of Pune police.

The police team nabbed him in Delhi on Thursday, revealing that he had 14 ‘overwhelming’ accounts in his name, in reputed banks: HDFC, Canara, SBI, ICICI, Syndicate and other banks.

Reports have it that the suspect has so far duped more than 90 people across India through lottery scams to the tune of around Rs three crore.

Information minister, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said yesterday in Kano that the present administration spent its first year in office planning how to make Nigeria a better country.

Mohammed stated this when he paid a courtesy visit to the Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, stressing that the Muhammadu Buhari-led administration spent its first year in office blocking the leakages to stop stealing of public funds.

He said since December 2015, the military had regained all territories hitherto occupied by the sect.
These were contained in a document entitled ‘Fact sheet on President Muhammadu Buhari’s first year in office’ made available to journalists by the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari on Friday, warned against forced marriages and child abduction in the country, noting that every child has the right of education and the right to live. Jonathan wants Obasanjo, Abdulsalami, Babangida others probed


President Goodluck Jonathan has advised the incoming president, Muhammadu Buhari, not to single his administration out for probe.
He said if Mr. Buhari must investigate him and his administration, he should do the same for the past governments.
A probe centred only on the Jonathan administration will amount to a “witch hunt”, the president said Wednesday at a valedictory cabinet meeting attended by ministers ahead of his handing over to Mr. Buhari on Friday.
Mr. Jonathan said his comments followed calls from different quarters for his administration to be investigated.

Buhari Didn’t Use Public Funds For Presidential Campaign, Stop Calling For Probe

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun has condemned calls for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to probe the funding of President Muhammadu Buhari’s 2015 Presidential campaign.
Oyegun, while speaking on WE FM’s “The Encounter with Constance Ikokwu,” said unlike the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, which used public funds to finance its campaign, APC’s financing of the party’s Presidential campaign came from individual donations, thereby making it wrong to call for a probe.
