Photo: Can anyone identify this young girl? She has no idea where she came from

Ahmed Soye posted this photo of a young girl he found in front of his house yesterday morning, April 28.

According to him: "This girl was found in front of my House early this morning. She said her name is Ummul Khairi and that she is married. She was asked where she came from she said she did not know. She did not know her husband name nor her parents name. I called Civil Defence Corp who took her to their office here in Gombe. Any body who knows this girl should please contact the Gombe State office of Civil Defence"

‘It is only those involved in the hoarding and diverting of petroleum products that will be arrested’ – Nigerian Police


In a new statement released, the Nigerian Police have clarified their position on a statement released days ago which implied that IGP Arase had ordered Zonal Assistant Inspectors-General of Police, Commissioners of Police & other officers to arrest anybody found selling petroleum products in plastic containers. Apparently, the directive was to arrest those involved in hoarding and diversion of fuel. The statement reads,


Nigerian Army responds to non-payment of soldiers allowances


The Nigerian Army has explained the reasons behind the non-payment of soldiers' allowance in the last six months. According to the statement issued by Army Acting Director of Public Relations, Colonel Sani Usman:
"The attention of the Nigerian Army has been drawn to some stories going round the media circles with the title “Disquiet in the war front as soldiers complain of unpaid allowance” alleging that there was problem in the Nigerian Army due to non-payment of allowances to some soldiers serving in the North East.

The troops of 3 Battalion, 22 Brigade have arrested Bukar Gujja and Bukar Kahalifa, two tailors who makes clothes for Boko Haram terrorists. Petrol Tanker Caught Fire In Osun

A petrol tanker today caught fire in iree town osun state. According to an eye witness, She said the tanker was meant to deliver petrol to a filling station at poly junction around 4pm today, but before the tanker could move in to the filling station, it suddenly caught fire. Fire Fighter were called to the scene to stop the fire from spreading.

Man Bags Six Months Jail Term for N1.8 million Fraud

Justice S. C. Amadi of the Rivers State High Court, on Thursday April 28 convicted and sentenced one Ernest Monday to six months imprisonment for stealing and fraudulent conversion of the sum  of one million, eight hundred thousand naira (N1. 8 million.)

Police In Rivers Arrest 7 Kidnappers

The police in Rivers State have arrested a man named Mitchell Tamuno, alleged to be a kidnap kingpin.

The police command, according to information it posted, Thursday, on Facebook, said Mr. Tamuno who is from Abam, Okirika Local Government Area, was arrested on Wednesday around 4a.m, alongside five other members of his gang.

The police said Tamuno and his gang have confessed to kidnapping a 14-year-old girl, Charity Ikirigo, of Federal Government College, Abuloma, on April 18.

The girl was later rescued by the Anti-Kidnapping Squad in the state.

A staff of the Nigerian national assembly, Mr Suleiman Bello was repeatedly stabbed by an unknown motorcyclist in Abuja on Thursday. Bello who was driving a Toyota Camry got into a heated argument with a motrcyclist also know as Okada at Bhyanzin Junction.

First Bank To Sack 1000 Workers

FBN Holdings Plc, the parent company of First bank Limited said it would cut jobs and focus less on providing loans to the oil industry in a bid to reverse last year’s 82 percent slump in profit.

EFCC Begins Manhunt For Ugonna Madueke


The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has launched a manhunt for Ugonna, son to the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke.

This is in connection with the alleged disbursement of money to INEC officials and election monitors in the build-up to the presidential election.

According to sources at the EFCC, Ugonna is the key to arresting all those involved in the case.

Arewa Consultative Forum Decries Case Against Saraki

A representative of the Arewa Consultative Forum, Senator Joseph Waku, who represented Benue North Senatorial district from 1999 to 2003, today decried the way and manner that the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) case against the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has been handled.

Speaking with newsmen on the sidelines of the CCT, Waku said that he was mandated by the Arewa Consultative Forum to observe the proceedings, and report back to the Forum.

3 year old boy left with facial injuries after savage attack from dog


A three year old boy was attacked and bitten by a stray dog (lurcher-type hound) as he walked alongside his dad. The boy was immediately rushed to hospital for treatment to injuries to his face. His family agreed to release images of the wounded toddler to warn people and also assist the police in tracking down the dog.

A man allegedly stabbed his girlfriend to death in the Tanke area of Ilorin, Kwara state, on Monday, April 25, for refusing his marriage proposal.

It was gathered that the man, a franchise officer with one of the leading mobile telecommunication operators (MTN) in the area also stabbed his girlfriend's mother when she tried to settle the issue between the two. She sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital where she is receiving treatment.
