The Newly Crowned Miss International 2014

Puerto Rican beauty, Valerie Hernandez stood out among her competitors to be crowned the newly Miss International 2014 yesterday.


The 21-year-old student and model from Carolina, Puerto Rico, was crowned on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 right now former Miss International 2013 who won the crown this past year, Bea Santiago from Philippines at the wonder pageant’s 54th annual event held at the Grand Prince Hotel Takanawa in Tokyo, Japan. Simply elated, Valerie was totally lost for words and simply said: ‘As Miss International, I want to send a message of love, peace, and unity.’

(1st Runner – up) Zuleika Suarez from Colombia,

(2nd Runner – up) Punika Kulsoontornrut from Thailand,

(3rd Runner up) Victoria Tooby from United Kingdom and

(4th Runner up) Milla Romppanen from Finland

B'Haram: UN report claims 13,000 Nigerians take refuge in Cameroon-

In accordance with a written report released yesterday November 11th by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), 13,000 Nigerians fled from Nigeria to Cameroon in October after the attack and capture of Mubi town in Adamawa state by Boko Haram members.


Based on the report, which you will find here, some 13,000 Nigerian refugees mostly women and children, fled Mubi town in over 300 vehicles and settled in towns of Guider and Gashiga in the North region of Cameroun and to Bourha, Mogode and Boukoula in the Far North of Cameroon.

Though some Cameroonian nationals say all of the Nigerians that arrived their villages have returned to Nigeria and have settled at the refugee camps create in Yola, the Adamawa state capital, the UNHCR say it’s investigating claims that people who returned to Nigeria were forcefully sent back

“We’re also examining claims that a few of these refugees might have been forced to come back to Nigeria. We’re seeking assurances from both Nigeria and Cameroun that the return of these folks was done on a voluntary basis. Cameroun is hosting tens and thousands of refugees from Nigeria and Central African Republic and we encourage Cameroon to carry on using its policy of welcoming refugees,” UNHCR said.

A suspected fraudster, Adekunle Balogun a.k.a Malan Salihu, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over fraudulent dealings involving the sum of $1million USD.
The 44-year- old Ordinary Diploma certificate holder in Textile and Polymer Technology was picked up by operatives of the Commission in Lagos for allegedly duping one Precious Chukwuma Emelue of N100million by deceiving him into believing that, he would assist him in retrieving a sum of $1million from a Pakistani bank:

I have read with enthusiasm the single ladies piece, it is indeed a well thought and comprehensive observation. I agree with her totally, I mean I agree with her 100 percent. But nevertheless, i will submit my defense by doing a critical appraisal taking into cognizance the position of married men as well, focusing on married men in Africa.

Dear Married Woman,
These couple of days I have read messages on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and the likes and as much as I have tried to bridle my tongue and not say anything; just let it slide, my emotion has chosen to betray me.
So today I stand in defence of all unjustly stigmatised Single ladies. To you married woman who has taken to the social media to air her grievances, please re-direct your energy into bridling your erring husband.
 More than half of the time, these men are the ones who pursue single girls unrelentingly, luring them with the worldly goodies the Good Lord has bequeathed on them. And let me let you know what you’d never hear from your husband, they speak ill of you. Half the time, the reason they are still with you is because of our own conscious effort not to break another girl’s home as we look forward to having ours.

Hero: Lt Mayowa Areago shot Killed by B'Haram

A Nigerian army officer Lt Mayowa Areago,  was shot dead three days ago while retreating from the mission to fight the Boko Haram in Borno state. Based on his friends who submitted his photos, he graduated from Nigerian Defence Academy in 2012 and was immediately posted to the North to simply help in the fight against Boko Haram.

The brand new N100 note made to commemorate Nigeria’s 100 years of amalgamation was unveiled by President Jonathan today Nov. 12th at their state house during the Federal Executive Council meeting.


While presenting the notes to other members of the Council, the president said it was a laudable gesture by the CBN to make the notes which will serve as an indication of Nigeria’s centenary celebration. Speaking on the brand new notes, Central Bank governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele said the notes is likely to be in circulation from December 2014
