BRT Lane Violation: Soldiers Beat Up LASTMA Officer

Irate soldiermen beat up an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA for daring to take photographs of them violating the BRT Lane on Ikorodu Road, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.
This is coming as the Lagos State Government warns military officers against violating the BRT Law.
In a dramatic fashion, the military officers threw caution and decency into the wind when they descended heavily on LASTMA official, Peter Owolabi, for daring to take the photographs of their black Honda Accord car with number registration CP 839 YAB which violated the BRT laws at Obanikoro bus stop on Ikorodu road.
The unruly attitude of the personnel attracted the attention of members of the public, who jeered and admonished them to respect civil authority.

Buhari Hasn’t Added Value To Current Power Situation –Nebo

Former Minister of Power, Prof Chinedu Nebo, in this interview with ABIODUN NEJO takes a look at Nigeria’s ethnicity issue, the politics of power supply and the need to focus on areas of comparative advantage, among others. Excerpts:

Some people have identified diversity as one of the country’s major problems, what is your take?
I do think that diversity is crucial to survival and striving. If you become monotonous in anything, it is so easy to burn out and run out of line, but if there is diversity: intellectual diversity, cultural diversity, bio diversity, orientational diversity as the case may be, and even religious diversity, you will see that people are stronger and better formed out. I think one of the best things that have happened to this country is in those days when people could be transferred to any part of the country. There weren’t such barriers in those days as they are now. State of origin didn’t come into it. I do hope that one day, people would be allowed to be the real indigenes of where they were born, not necessarily of where their father or mother or grandfather was born. So, I see the diversity that we have in Nigeria as a very strong point.

Buhari’s Ministers, Critics And Wailers, By Joe Igbokwe

Immediately President Buhari released the list of his 21 ministers, I noticed a barrage of criticisms from some Nigerians especially from the opposition, PDP. To them, the long wait to get the ministers list released is not just worth it. The wailing wailers raised some questions that prompted me to write this piece:“Is this their so-called first-eleven? Where are the Buhari’s saints? Is the list worth the long wait?” Some say they are page boys of corruption. Others say: Is this the list Buhari kept to his chest? Why should the President keep this kind of list to his chest? According to them there is nothing so special about the president’s list.

Drama As Buhari Faults Auditor-General On Lake Chad Report

ABUJA – President Mohammadu Buhari and Auditor General of the Federation, AGF, Samuel Ukura on Monday disagreed over the environmental audit reports on the drying-up of the Lake Chad.

While the president noted that the report did not take into account the feasibility study conducted by a team under the tenure of former President Olusegun Obasabjo which cost Nigeria $5 million, the AGF insisted that that was outside his supervision, saying that Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC) has that responsibility.

But the president insisted that the AGF should give relevant explanations of the omission.

The development caused a minor stir in the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, where the presentation was made.

Following the silence of surprise that ensued, the President requested that someone should interprete what the AGF meant, and later asked the Executive Secretary of the LCBC, Ambassador Sanusi Imran Abdullahi, to give his side of the story.

However, in recent days has come information on a new split in the Dawn of Libya coalition. So, according to mass media reports, rebels from Misurata which made up the backbone of the Islamist coalition were “wavering”. Understanding that the Misurata ones can waver and go on to negotiations with the new government, the Qataris began to additionally strengthen an alternative force in the agency of the Libyan “Islamic State”, which is now expanding its presence near Sirt. Also, according to available data, Libyan IS is actively intercepting control over the transit of drugs through Libya and the flow of illegal migrants to the EU, thereby trying to strengthen its financial base directly within the territory of Libya.

To be a Nigerian, you should have enemies and if you don’t have one, you will need to create one for yourself, else who will you blame for your misfortunes or failure. Even the Enemy complains of his enemies.

5) Look rich at all time even when you’re broke

To be a Nigerian, you won’t climb up the social quo if you don’t “pack” yourself properly. You have to either wear it, drive it or live it, else no one will take you serious. You must be loud with your wealth and accomplishments. Even if you are poor, you must carry on with life with a certain swagger. Don’t ever forget that you are a Nigerian; your country is the sixth largest producer of crude oil in the world, the most populous black nation on earth, and the home of the happiest people in the universe.

6) You must wake up each day dreaming of one hundred other ways of making moneyAfter making the money, you should also learn how to flaun[/b]t it. The wealth you’ve acquired need to be rubbed on the faces of those enemies.

7) In George Orwell’s book- Animal farm, all animals are equal but some are more equal, to be a Nigerian you should always have it in mind that, all men are equal by citizenship, but some are to be called Ogas.

8) You must also adore titles to yourself.

It doesn’t matter how ridiculous they might sound; titles like Chief, Hajia, Alhaji, Otunba, Dame, and other professional titles like Doctor , Engineer. They show how important you’re and why people should regard you. These titles show the exercise of lust for respect, authority, and power to satisfy your unworthy egos and vanity, so you must add one to your name.

So you can now call yourself Alhaji Dr. (Chief)……..

9) To be a Nigerian, you must be very cautious all the time, treat all with nothing less than suspicion. You should not be able to speak your native language or if you can you should pretend not to be able to speak your native language, even while your battle with English Language remained evident, else people will think you’re country-side’, ‘village-bred’, or ‘unexposed’.

10) To be a Nigerian, you must be an optimist. A pessimist is not a Nigerian.

This is the only way to survive is to always hope; hope there will be constant power supply, hope for change, hope that your boss at work will promote you as you can’t remember the last time you got promoted, hope that one day boko haram will stop bombing, you have to always anticipate a brighter future else you will die of depression before old age. And this hope needs some rekindling, so for you to be a Nigerian you also need to be an ardent reader of motivational books.

11.Also, for you be a Nigerian, you also have to portray Ethnicity and tribal sentiment;Yorubas are these… Hausas are that, Igbos are those…etc

Finally, you’re now a Nigerian, but learn how to scream “Do you know who I am?” when you find yourself in certain situations.

Of course, you’re now a Nigerian but you still need to confirm if people truly know who you are.

Oya you can now start hurling your insults cause you all hate the truth.
