EFCC Wants To Steal My Money –Patience Jonathan

•Accuses anti-graft agency of using mercenaries to plead guilty in court
•Ex-First Lady may forfeit N6.3bn propery

Former First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, yesterday accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of using mercenaries in court to plead guilty on her behalf. She said the anti-graft agency was plotting to steal her “hard-earned” $15million (about N6.3billion)
She was reacting to the guilty as charged plea by four companies arraigned with a former aide to her husband, Waripamo Dudafa at a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos yesterday.

Patience Jonathan tells court that the $31.4 m inside a frozen account belongs to her

According to TheGuardian, former First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, is claiming ownership of the $31.4m involved in an alleged fraud case before a Federal High Court in Lagos.


Counsel to the first defendant in charge, with case number FHC/337C/16, Gboyega Oduwole, informed the court that Mrs. Jonathan filed a fundamental application against the EFCC, claiming ownership of the money.

Housemaid Steals, Buries N1.5 Million In Bush


The sum of N1.5 million stolen in Lagos by a housemaid, Happiness Gabriel, has been recovered in a bush, in Ogun State.
The 18-year-old maid, who stole her boss’s money within two and a half hours of being engaged in her Lagos home, was reportedly aided by her 30-year-old stepfather, Gabriel Igbang.
It was gathered that sometimes in May 2016, Happiness was contracted by Mrs Bolanle Ibukunoluwa through one Alhaja popularly known and called Iya Dolapo, as a housemaid and the monthly salary agreed upon was N7, 000 which was to be paid at the end of the year.

Land Grabbers To Face 21 Years Jail Term

Illegal land occupants also known as land grabbers will henceforth face 21 years jail term.
This was the law yesterday passed by the Lagos State House of Assembly prohibiting forceful entry and illegal occupation of landed properties in the state.

According to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, after the Bill had gone through the Third Reading and finally passed by a voice vote of all members present at plenary session, told the acting Clerk of the House, Mr. Azeez Sanni, to forward a clean copy of the bill to the state Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, for his assent.

EFCC: Fayose Got Contracts Kickback To Buy Mansions

Anti-graft agency states details of N1.299b case

Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose got left kickbacks from contractors and lavished the cash on mansions, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has alleged.

The governor’s N1.299 billion bank account has been frozeen. He is in court contesting the order, which the EFCC has defended. The case is coming up September 30 at the Federal Gigh Court, Ado-Ekiti.

Military Vows To Crush Niger Delta Militants


Ootraged at the increasing threat that militants in the Niger Delta posed to the economy, the Nigerian Military declared war on them yesterday.

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Gabriel Olonisakin, the service chiefs from the Nigerian Navy (NN) and the Nigerian Army (NA), Vice Adm. Ibok Ette-Ibas and Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, respectively, made the declaration of war at different military functions in Lagos.

The CDS, who was the guest of honour at the navy’s 60th diamond anniversary in Lagos, said the military would continue its onslaught against militants’ activities in the Niger Delta region and insurgency in the Northeast.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday, May 9, 2016 arraigned one Bunmi Dare Ikuolayole before Justice  R.I.B. Adebiyi of the High Court of Lagos State sitting in Igbosere on a six-count charge bordering on stealing and forgery to the tune of N13, 500,000.00 (Thirteen Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira).

UK Guardian Accuses Cameron Of ‘Epic Hypocrisy’ Over His ‘Fantastically Corrupt’ Comment.

The Guardian of London has delved into the controversy generated by the comment of British prime minister, David Cameron, who described Nigeria as a “fantastically corrupt” country.
The newspaper, in an editorial, accused Cameron, Britain and the west of “epic hypocrisy”.
“They have spent decades ordering poor countries and failed states to sort out their problems with dodgy money, even while taking much of that dodgy money and ploughing it through their banks, their ritzy stores, their estate agents, and their offshore tax havens,” it said.
Cameron had made the slip while speaking with Queen Elizabeth ahead of the anti-corruption summit holding in London this week.

EFCC: Saraki Declared Property That Didn’t Exist.

Michael Wetkas, a detective of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Wednesday, told the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), that Senate President Bukola Saraki declared a property that did not exist.
According to him, the “ghost” property was said to be at 15b McDonald road, Ikoyi, Lagos.
Asked by Paul Usoro, Saraki’s lawyer, if he stood by his testimony that the property which the defendant declared did not exist, Wetkas said: “Anything we bring before this court is derived from investigation.”

Cct Trial: Efcc Witness Admits Saraki Was Charged Without Petition


A prosecution witness, Micheal Wetkas, a detective from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC),‎ has revealed that the trial of the Senate president, Dr Bukola Saraki, by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) did not emanate from any petition against the Senate president.

Saraki is being tried before the tribunal by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) over alleged false assets declaration.

During the proceedings of the tribunal yesterday, Mr Wetkas, under cross examination by Saraki’s lead counsel, Kanu Agabi (SAN), told the Tribunal that he filed the charge against the Senate president on September 14, 2015, while the witness’ report, which forms part of proof of evidence, was filed on October 30, 2015.

EFCC Arraigns Tompolo In Absentia

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Monday arraigned a former Niger Delta militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, in absentia on 22 counts of fraud amounting to N47.6bn.

Also arraigned in absentia in relation to the alleged fraud were six brothers of a former Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime and Safety Agency, Patrick Akpobolokemi – Igo, Julius, Victor, Norbert, Emmanuel and Clement.

Tompolo, Igo, Julius, Victor, Norbert, Emmanuel and Clement were declared as being “now at large” when the charges were read before a Federal High Court in Lagos on Monday.

Woman Attempts To Set Husband Ablaze Over Property and divorce(Pictures)

 A housewife, Mrs Florence Njideka Chukwuma has been arrested by the police at State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba over an alleged attempt on the life of her husband, Chinedu over a house property in Lagos State, southwestern Nigeria.

Florence allegedly bought a gallon of petrol which she poured on Chinedu’s body, she then took a lighter to set him ablaze during a quarrel.

However, before she could achieve her goal, Chinedu jumped fence and escaped, suffering injuries as a result of the attack.

EFCC Arraigns Former Acting DG of NIMASA for Alleged N156m Fraud


The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC,  today April 12, 2016  arraigned former Acting  Director General of Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency,  NIMASA, Haruna Baba Jauro, his brother in-law, Dr Dauda Bistrus Bawa and his company Thlumbau Enterprises Limited before Justice C.M.A Olantoregun of the Federal High Court Lagos on 19 count charge of stealing and money laundering.

 Jauro was arrested by the EFCC based on its findings during the investigation of his predecessor, Patrick Akpobolokemi. In the course of investigation,  it was discovered that the former Acting DG while being the Executive Director, Finance of the agency received the sum of N156,477,500 as gratification from Akpobolokemi to allow the former DG and his cohorts to embezzled large sums of monies from the agency. The said monies were traced to Jauro's company account, Thlumbau Enterprises Limited, which his brother in-law, the second accused person oversees.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC yesterday April 12th, arraigned a former acting Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Haruna Jauro, his brother in-law, Dauda Bistrus Bawa, his company Thlumbau Enterprises Limited and others before the Federal High Court in Lagos over an alleged N156m fraud in the agency. Jauro was appointed as an acting DG of NIMASA in July last year following the sack of the former Director General, Patrick Apkobolokemi, who is now being prosecuted for alleged multi billion naira fraud in the agency.

Father, Two Daughters Die In Lagos Explosion (photos)

A 65-year-old man, Alhaji Kamorudeen Ajibade and his daughters, Wuraola (19) and Shakirat (15) died on Tuesday in Somolu area of Lagos when their generator exploded. The incident, according to neighbours, happened about 10p.m. at 5, Adebiyi Street, Somolu.

Witnesses said Ajibade was pouring fuel inside his generator near a burning stove at the back of their apartment while Shakirat held the torchlight for him when the generator exploded. The sound of the explosion, the neighbours added, attracted Wuraola’s attention. According to them, she rushed outside but fell into the fire while trying to rescue her father and sister.

State governments are spending billions of naira in pension payments to their former governors who are also drawing salaries from public purse as serving senators and ministers, Daily Trust reports.


According to a Lagos Pension Law approved by former governor Bola Tinubu in 2007, a former governor will enjoy the following benefits for life: Two houses, one in Lagos and another in Abuja. (Property experts estimates such a house in Lagos to cost N500 million and Abuja N700 million.)

Others are six brand new cars replaceable every three years; furniture allowance of 300 percent of annual salary to be paid every two years, and a close to N2.5 million as pension (about N30 million pension annually).
