I went out with my family to have fun for the weekend; on getting back to the car we realized we had a flat tire. I decided to guardedly drive to the nearby gas station to air the tire up, it didn’t work out because it was a huge damage. Ok now, I opened the trunk, brought out the spare tire, jack and vehicle wheel spanner to change it; the car tire was so flat to the alloy rim, so the purpose for my high jack was defeated; while trying to loosen the nuts, the spanner gave up its functional duties and asked for a change. I thought to myself: “which kain wahala be dis? I for kukuma siddon for house jejely.”
As I walked towards the convenience store, a man in his forties approached me and asked what the problem was, I said: “ I got a flat tire, can you spare me a few minutes to use your spanner bro?”, he said: “ I’m so sorry I gotta rush somewhere, you can have my spanner, I know how it feels because I have been stranded in a similar situation”. I expressed my gratitude, but was a little surprised because I had given up hope in this wicked world. Anyway, Problem one solved. Problem two: I thought of how to buy another jack that was designed for low cars, only to envisage that Walmart was quite a distance away from where I was situated. I knew fixing the problem hastily was of the essence because the cold weather wasn’t friendly to my kids and wifey either.
The Nigerian mentality of improvising in challenging situations like this, took over me, so for a moment I thought I was a “super man” who could lift one side of the car up and requested my wife to slot in the jack, and behold, after some exhausting moments of fooling myself, I gave up, because my innovation wasn’t even “half-way” close to actualization.
Thinking of better ideas, an old man in his early sixties drove towards me showing his concerns, he brought out his jack, I was surprised at the way he laid comfortably on the bare floor, looking for the right spot to place his jack, we later found it, raised the car up and got the tire changed. I rolled the damaged tire like a fatigued 5 year old Nigerian boy to the trunk; still at the trunk(out of his sight), I got out some notes from my wallet to show appreciation, with the squeezed notes in my hands, I gave him a handshake like we were exchanging pleasantries, and telling him thank you; as our hands departed, he realized there were some squeezed notes in his hands, he said “nah! nah! naahh! Bro, I did this from my heart” I stepped backwards and said “ I know, I did it from my heart too” This old man chased me and said: “don’t embarrass me bro, I love to do good, money is nothing”. He quickly squeezed it into my pocket, and I unblinkingly stared at him like a hypnotized man.
As he walked back to his car, I couldn’t say another thank you and all I could “echo” to him was: “there are still good men in this world, and you’re the prove”. He smiled and said: “spread the love.” “I sure will”, I said.
I know every human has a certain degree of selfishness, however, if we could just kill some of those egocentric feelings to the barest minimum, this world would be a better place.

A group of concerned Nigerians came together to make a documentary called “The Displaced”.The documentary tells the horror stories of Nigerians displaced from their homes in the northeastern areas of Nigeria as Islamist militant group, Boko Haram, continues to attack villages, towns and cities in that area. The documentary was made by Aminu Ahmed and Nori Mathias and only attempts to inform the story of internally displaced persons in a one state (Adamawa State) of Nigeria. It’s strictly humanitarian, non profit and apolitical. Watch bellow.

Russia and Malaysia are insisting on an objective and complete investigation to the fatal Malaysian Boeing 777 crash in eastern Ukraine in accordance with the UN Security Council’s resolution, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Monday.
“Russia, as well as Malaysia, insists on a complete, objective and full investigation of this catastrophe in complete compliance with the UN Security Council’s resolution,” Putin said during a meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in China.
Putin also rebuffed claims that the crash site is under control of pro-independence forces in eastern Ukraine.
“I believe that reports that the territory of the crash site is controlled by so-called pro-Russian separatists are completely groundless,” Putin added.
Malaysia Airlines flight MH17, flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, crashed near Donetsk on July 17. All 298 Person on board, including 283 passengers and 15 crew members, died in the crash.
In accordance with a preliminary report issued by the Dutch Safety Board early in September, the plane probably split up in mid-air consequently of structural damage the effect of a large amount of high-energy objects that penetrated the aircraft from the outside.

The constant shelling by Ukrainian forces of the crash site of the fatal Malaysian MH17 Boeing plane in eastern Ukraine is hampering investigations into the crash, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Monday.
“Because it’s not [pro-independent supporters] but the opposite side that’s constantly shelling this territory and that is not allowing a full volume of work at the crash site,” Putin said during a meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in China.
“But in any case we welcome the fact that Malaysian experts have finally been allowed [into the crash site] for full participation in the investigation, and not just working with a so-called technical commission. I’m sure that our specialists can present their needed contribution into a full-fledged investigation into this tragedy,” Putin added.
Earlier in November, RIA Novosti reported that a small grouping of Dutch experts began collecting wreckage from the site of the Malaysia Airlines plane crash in eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk region. The experts were gathering small fragments of the plane and placing them in special containers.
On July 17, a Malaysia Airlines flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur crashed in Ukraine’s eastern region of Donetsk, killing all 298 people on board.
The crash happened amid a continuous military operation, launched by Kiev authorities against independence supporters in eastern Ukraine.

Accounting in the Russian ruble & Chinese yuan will most likely weaken the dollar’s influence on the global energy market, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Monday.
“Accounting in rubles and yuan are very forward-looking. This means that if widely adopted, the influence of the dollar in the global energy [sector] will objectively decrease. This isn’t bad for the world economy, global finances or global energy markets,” Putin said during his speech at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in China.
During a November 9 meeting on the sidelines of the APEC summit Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping discussed the likelihood of utilising the yuan in transactions in fields of mutual cooperation. Based on the Russian president, possibilities to boost the utilization of the Russian and Chinese currencies in bilateral trade and notably in the power sector are still being studied.
Amid the western economic sanctions imposed on Russia over its alleged role in the Ukrainian crisis, Moscow has increased its economic cooperation with other BRICSnations – Brazil, India, China and South Africa – along with with Asia-Pacific and Latin America.
In October the central banks of Russia and China signed a three-year currency swap agreement amounting to 150 billion yuan ($24.5 billion). Based on the Russian regulator, the agreement will promote the development of bilateral economic relations and the more utilization of rubles and yuan in trade and investment.
Russia’s banking system feels stable despite significant change in the ruble’s exchange rate, Central Bank head Elvira Nabiullina revealed on Monday.
“Even under the considerable changes in the falling exchange rate [of the ruble], our banking system feels quite stable,” Nabiullina said during an interview on Russia’s Rossiya-24 television.
She added that Russia has a solid currency buffer especially for the short-term situation.

Iran has properly tested an unmanned aerial car (UAV) on the basis of the National RQ-170 drone downed on Iranian soil in 2011, the aerospace team head of the country’s Revolutionary Guard Gen. Amir Ali Hajizadeh was cited as expressing by IRNA News Agency Monday.
Hajizadeh informed reporters that the test was done on Friday, but he didn’t reveal the details. Additionally, he typical stated that Iranian professionals could provide many missile tasks in the near future.
Earlier in May, Tehran unveiled a copy of the US-made Lockheed Martin Sentinel RQ-170 drone at a military aerospace exhibition. The aircraft was a copy of a drone that Iran downed near the town of Kashmar in 2011 after crossing into Iranian airspace from neighboring Afghanistan.
The drone was downed by Iranian electronic warfare systems, which made it to land on Iranian territory rather than its designated home military base.
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two teenage boys, Gideon Harrison, 19, and Ifeanyi Ezeorji, 14, for allegedly making sex together in the Ikotun part of Lagos. Based on Punch, the boys were arrested on October 23 by the Ikotun Police Division when they allegedly had sex together through the anus, an act called sodomy.
The 14 year old boy’s mother denied that her son indulged in the act, telling Punch
“My son is just 14 years old. He does not do such things. He is not even mature yet. He takes his bath outside, some times in the presence of his sisters to tell you that he is young. His father had died in September this year, and we have yet to bury him. The family is still grieving him. All I know is that there is no truth in the allegation.
“I don’t know about the other man. I have not even met him. On the day of the alleged incident, my son had strolled to the motor park, and there was a street fight. My son then told me later on that he was simply watching the fight, and he had been arrested by the police.”

But as he rolled up his windows and stepped out of the car, I imagined the girls peeping from their windows, ogling his huge shoulders and boyish face. They certainly loved the loud music, theblue Volvo, the man who drove it, his stutter, his sprinting walk.
A bomb went off today November 10th during Assembly at the Senior Science Secondary School Potiskum, Yobe state.
The bomber is thought to be students who had been on the assembly ground with other students. Many students feared dead while several others injured.
