Fake praise singers like Kashamu no longer in vogue - The Jagaban

The national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has rejected the commendations given on him by Ogun-East senator-elect, Buruji Kashamu.
buruj-Kashamutinubu0

Kashamu, who is the Chairman of the Organization and Mobilization Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party in the South-West, had a week ago, portrayed Tinubu as his good example and the modeler of present day Nigeria. On the other hand, Tinubu, in an announcement by his media counsel, Mr. Sunday Dare, portrayed Kashamu as an actor. The previous legislative leader of Lagos State said there was no basis for comparison between himself and Kashamu, saying that he felt offended by the public statement tended to him by Kashamu.

He said,
“The days of false adulation are gone in Nigerian politics. Fake praise singers like Kashamu will find that their particular craft is no longer in vogue. During this election cycle, their practice has dramatically turned from the way things are to how things used to be.

“Politicians will no longer be able to change direction and loyalties as if they were changing clothes. Those in politics must know that responsibility and accountability shall now follow them. One can no longer walk both sides of the street at the same time. In case Kashamu has not noticed, the politics of principle defeated the politics of posturing.”

Tinubu said it was ironic that Kashamu could praise him after conspiring with other PDP leaders to produce and broadcast a hate documentary against him. He said Kashamu’s actions and lifestyle showed that President Goodluck Jonathan and the leader of the PDP in Lagos, Chief Bode George, were his true role models.

Tinubu said Kashamu, who was rude to elders like former President Olusegun Obsanjo could not be his political son

He said,

“Kashamu may be prodigal but he is no political son of Tinubu. Kashamu’s political lineage tracks to people like Bode George and President Jonathan. He should direct his encomiums to these men who are his true role models. They need his contrived affections more than Tinubu does.

“This same Kashamu rained insults on former President Olusegun Obasanjo in a vicious campaign of calumny. Kashamu’s party, the PDP, sponsored defamatory documentaries full of lies and innuendos against me, General Muhammadu Buhari and other leaders of the APC.”

Tinubu urged Kashamu to turn himself to the United States’ authorities over the accusations of drug smuggling levelled against him, adding that only then would he believe that he was a reformed person. The former governor said as a person of repute, he could not be seen to be hobnobbing with people of questionable character as this would affect his reputation across the world.

“Please keep your peace until you make your trip to the USA as a senator-elect. Upon your return we can then have a conversation. We can then proceed with your repudiation of the PDP with a promise that you will stop corrupting and fouling the political system.

“I am a patriotic, law abiding Nigerian and my achievements make me world-renowned. I am a global citizen that travels freely to the USA, the United Kingdom and other nations. I associate with individuals who seek democracy and good governance for all. I do not spend time with characters whose values are at variance with societal expectations and laws governing a decent society.”

APC planning to use tribunals to steal our little victories, PDP cries out

The Peoples Democratic Party has said the All Progressives Congress is planning to use the various election petition tribunals across the states to take away the victories recorded by the party.
Mu’azu-600x330

The APC defeated the PDP in the. March 28 presidential election. The party also defeated the PDP in a number of states, especially the north and south western states in the April 11 governorship elections.

Rising from a meeting of the National Working Committee and governor and Senators-elect under its platform in Abuja on Tuesday, the PDP warned that the APC is “planning to use the tribunals and ‘salamic’ arrangements to truncate and subvert the freely given mandate by the people in the states and constituencies”.

The outcome of the meeting, which was contained in a communiqué read by George Sekibo, a Senator-elect from Rivers state, also said the meeting vehemently frowns at the “shameless undemocratic ways and means being displayed by the outgoing APC lawmakers in Ekiti state towards effecting an unconstitutional change in government”.

The meeting equally expressed deep concerns at what it said was the plans by the APC to make the Nigeria a one-party state using crude and underhand undemocratic practice and thus reverse the gains of the PDP-led administration.

They also asked the Independent National Electoral Commission to be forthright and impartial in the handling of the various elections pending in Abia, Imo and Taraba states.

The meeting also commended President Goodluck Jonathan for his statesmanly disposition towards the sustenance of democracy and peace in the country.

The PDP said it frowned at the “unprecedented level of intimidation, harassment and undue persecution of the party members since the INEC declaration of the APC candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari”.

It also congratulated all the winners on the platform of the PDP in the elections and urge them to discharge their duties and form a formidable opposition that can redirect the fortunes of the country and sustain the gains of the present democratic era led by President Jonathan.

“The meeting stressed the importance of unity, peace and harmony in the party for effectiveness in its new role and warned that it will not condone agents of APC working as fifth columnists to destabilize the leadership of the party,” the communiqué said.

More Repercussions From US/European Militarism

Over the weekend, a ship filled with migrants capsized off the coast of Libya. Hundreds of people, fleeing from the Middle East and Africa were reported to be on this ship and have perished.
migrant-ship

Libya…….That country rings a bell, right?

Didn’t the U.S. and its European vassals turn that place into a living hell when they intervened and got rid of Gaddafi? That was followed by the blowback in Benghazi, and a country with militias fighting one another for power.

Also over the weekend (in Libya) ISIS released a video showing the execution of 30 Christians.

Is it any wonder that scores of innocent people would want to leave this hell, and are willing to risk their lives on a smuggler’s boat with the hope that they might live?

Oh what a disaster these American/European military interventions produce.

Yet check out how those who had a hand in creating this mess want to deal with it (my emphasis):

In Italy’s Parliament, the leaders of foreign affairs and defense commissions pushed for the EU and the UN to prepare a naval blockade of Libya’s coast. Without one, “the traffickers will continue to operate and make money and the wretched will continue to die,” said Pier Fernando Casini, the Senate foreign affairs commission president.

Prepare a naval blockade of Libya? That’s basically telling those who are fleeing for their lives: “Sorry, we’re locking you in. Don’t even think about putting your life in danger at sea. We’re going to make sure that you have to dodge bullets instead.”

Also, look how this Italian politician tries to blame the smugglers, who “make money” by trying to smuggle people to safety. He wants to make sure that this life-saving service no longer “operates”.

These migrants are running for their lives because of US/European government actions. This is a government-created problem. It’s a military interventionist problem. It’s a problem of not minding your own business.

Leave it to a politician to brush that aside as if it never happened.

Countries Should Think Twice Before Striking Iran After S-300 Delivery.

The Russian Foreign Minister said that Moscow does not want Iran to become a new target for the illegitimate use of force.

 s400

People will think twice about striking Iran once it receives Russian S-300 missile defense systems, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Wednesday.“Those who still want to strike Iran will most likely think at least twice before they do so,” Lavrov said during an interview to Russian radio stations Sputnik, Ekho Moskvy, and Govorit Moskva.

The Russian Foreign Minister added that Moscow does not want Iran to become a new target for the illegitimate use of force.

“What is now happening, including in Yemen and in the region as a whole, shows the existence of serious risks,” Lavrov said.

On April 14, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree lifting the ban on the sale of S-300 air defense systems to Tehran that Moscow imposed in 2010, joining UN-imposed arms embargo on Iran amid concerns that the country was developing nuclear weapons.

The president’s decision came two weeks after Tehran and international negotiators agreed on a political framework for a future deal to guarantee the peaceful nature of the Iranian nuclear energy program. A final agreement is expected to be reached by July 2015.

Lavrov said that progress on the talks made the embargo on missile delivery irrelevant.

Days after Russia lifted its ban, US President Barack Obama mentioned that he was surprised Moscow had not done it earlier given its “strained” economy and tense relations with Washington.

However, in a Tuesday interview with MSNBC, Obama said that the United States could penetrate Iranian S-300 if necessary.

Polish MEP on Ukraine Snipers: US, Not Russia, Sought Destabilization!

Janusz Korwin-Mikke, the Polish MEP who stated that the Maidan snipers were trained in his country, has told Sputnik that Polish participation in the events of Maidan is a well-known fact, adding that the US, not Russia, stood to gain from the country’s destabilization.

 polish

Speaking to Sputnik about his sensational commentary for Polish media last week that the Maidan snipers received training in Poland, Korwin-Mikke noted that “with regard to Warsaw’s official participation in the Euromaidan and in the Ukrainian crisis as a whole, this is a well-known fact. [Estonian Foreign Minister] Urmas Paet’s leaked conversation with Baroness Catherine Ashton [the EU’s High Representative on Foreign Affairs and Security Policy] indicates clearly who had their fingers in the pie, so to speak.”Korwin-Mikke noted that “a number of signals” have indicated that “the [Maidan] terrorists were trained in Poland. The Lithuanians confirm this.” The politician acknowledged that “it’s possible that these people were trained in various centers. Perhaps someday it will be revealed where exactly the training took place.”

Speaking to Polish media last week, the right-libertarian politician and presidential candidate stated that the operation to destabilize Ukraine to overthrow the unpopular but democratically elected president Viktor Yanukovych was in part a Polish operation, with the mysterious snipers who killed dozens of protesters, along with police officers, were at least partially trained in Poland.

In Tuesday’s commentary for Sputnik, Korwin-Mikke noted that his assertions come down to the logic behind the events. “After all, it’s clear that the United States, not Russia, were the ones interested in seeing Ukraine destabilized. If someone is to say that Mr. Yanukovych was more friendly toward Russia than Poroshenko, isn’t it clear that Russia was not interested in destabilizing Ukraine?”Running as the candidate from the Coalition for the Renewal of the Republic –Freedom and Hope in this May’s upcoming presidential elections, Korwin-Mikke explained that “my election program differs from mainstream political parties, since I do not support a policy of senselessly attacking Russia for crimes she did not commit.” The MEP believes that both of Poland’s leading parliamentary parties, the Christian democratic Civic Platform and the conservative Law and Justice Party, have lost their independence, and serve at the behest of Berlin and Washington.

Who buys jet for $10 million for goodness sake? - Alison Madueke

Petroleum Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke asked who purchases a private plane for $10million after she was blamed for purchasing one for that sum while in office. “Who purchases a private jet for $10million for goodness sake?”.

Mrs Madueke said while reacting to inquiries bordering on the Petroleum Industry Bill asked by newsmen in Abuja today April 22nd. She likewise said she stepped on big toes with the changes she brought however never carried out any wrongdoing.

See what she said bellow, reported by the Thecable.ng

“In that bill are all the reforms needed to tear NNPC apart, make it a National Oil company, an equity share company through transparency, accountability & responsibility and reduce corruption in the industry. We did all theses and we put them in place to reduce corruption, so for me to be tagged with various tags of corruption, $10 million jet purchases, who buys jet for $10 million dollars for goodness sake?

And $20 billion missing money for which PWC had done a report and the $1.48 billion which is not missing, which is actually money transferred by the NNPC to NPDC which is a subsidiary and NPDC has actually started making payments under my directives. I have said during our time that there are gaps in the NNPC and I said that openly.  But I can also say that at no time in Nigerian history in the oil and gas has the NNPC been as open and audited as it is today. It has been positioned to go forward in the industry. It is true that the revenue profile is not sustainable. But we have done our best and the Nigerian oil and gas sector is today in a better shape than it has ever been in terms of achievements that we have recorded.

So let me state it clearly for the records that Nigeria is my country and I am not going anywhere. I love my country and I do think that I have done the best for my country and I would also like to point these malicious, malevolence, vindictive libels need to stop. We have done enough for this industry, we cannot please everybody. Yes, we have stepped on toes but we did that in the best interest of Nigeria and we have opened up the oil and gas industry to all Nigerians, thousands of Nigerians have benefited from our reforms in the system.”she said

She also said that her visit to former Military Head of state was not in anyway to seek for any soft landing because she is on her way out of office. She said in her bid to open up the oil and gas industry for more Nigerians to be involved, she stepped on many toes, particularly toes of the big cabals in the oil and gas industry

“I have not sought such assistance because I am not aware that I have been indicted of any crime that I will need a soft landing. Over the last four years, I have been severally and unfortunately accused and labelled in so many malicious and vindictive ways. I have explained these things and pushed back robustly on these accusations  and I have even gone to court on many of them. Yet they keep being regurgitated. I think it is unfortunate, particularly when we are moving into a transition period and looking forward to an incoming government  which is coming to take over where we have ended. For everything that has a beginning there is an end and that is not a surprise.

What is the surprise is the sort of malevolence bothering on personal malicious libel to my person during this period of time. I do believe that I have done the best for Nigeria in this job and I have attained many firsts in the history of oil and gas especially in the reforms that we have done. In this period of time, I have stepped on many big toes, particularly the toes of the cabals that were in the industry when we came in. I have said severally that we will open up the industry to all Nigerians, and we have, but that is not to the pleasure of certain cabals.

And I have been continuously maligned because of this. We have taken millions and in fact billions of dollars out of the hands of multinationals and their subcontractors and put them in the hands of Nigerians through the Nigerian Content. Hundreds of thousands of Nigerians have come into the oil and gas industry because of our reforms. Quite frankly, I think as unprecedented as it is, it does not please everybody and that cannot be helped but let us remember the unprecedented reforms that have happened in the oil industry during our time, such as major gas reforms, the Petroleum Industry Bill, which has been completely revised, reformed and put into the hands of members of the National Assembly where it has languished for two years.”she said

I remain loyal to Pres. Jonathan even after May 29 - Fayose

Press release from Ekiti State Governor Fayose

fayose

It has become imperative once again to address the media on the constitutional and political crises being foisted on our dear State, Ekiti by irritants of unbridled ambitions, who are not only devoid of spirit of sportsmanship but implacable even when all odds are against them and roundly rejected by the good people of the state.

It is no longer news that I defeated an incumbent governor in all the 16 Local Government Areas in the State and that for the first time in the history of Nigeria, attempts were made to use the courts to prevent someone who clearly won a governorship election from assuming office.

Since June 21, 2014 that the All Progressives Congress (APC) suffered that humiliating defeat, the party has suffered defeats in the entire local government areas in Ekiti State in four other elections, the latest being the House of Assembly election in which APC won no single seat out of the 26 seats.

Ekiti people have been persistent in their preference for me and my party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to correct the ills of the last four years and set the State on the path of greatness.

Despite that Ekiti people have consistently spoken with their votes against the APC, Nigerians are witnesses to the litany of illegalities being woven by both the national leadership of the party and its Ekiti State chapter, all in an attempt to rob Ekiti people of the mandate freely given to me.

Despite receiving bloodied nose in both the political and judicial arena in the hands of the Ekiti masses as represented by me, these desperate politicians are unrelenting in their shenanigans, the latest being the information at my disposal that even after May 29, the state would not know peace.

I however trust Ekiti people to do what is right in securing peace in their land.

I have been severally informed that I became the prime demolition target of the APC national leadership because of my overt and unalloyed support for President Goodluck Jonathan during the campaigns.

Insiders in their party also told me that APC leaders were also yet to get over the fact that in the entire South-West, Ekiti was the only state they could not “rob” for General Mohammed Buhari (rtd). The eagle-eyed surveillance of Ekiti people ensured that.

I wish to declare unequivocally that I remain loyal to President Jonathan even after May 29 as my support for his re-election and administration was not about bread-and-butter. I was convinced he was moving Nigeria in the right direction, despite all the noise. I have no regrets supporting him. If same situation presents itself again, I would do it all over.

Let me state It clearly that if President Jonathan is deserted by all Nigerians today, I, Ayodele Fayose, would remain with him. I have chosen to be his last-man standing.

If for this show of loyalty to Mr President and my party, APC and its leaders believe that the best way to pay me back is to make Ekiti ungovernable, the decision on appropriate reaction belongs to the people, whose mandate I keep in trust.

It is ironic that those who said worse things about the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) when they were in opposing parties, are the ones milling around him today, using him as an electoral talisman and demonizing us for saying things of lesser magnitude during a campaign that was mainly characterized by hate-messages from both divides.

I also want to put on record that if all PDP members decamp to APC today, I will remain the last-man standing for the party, even a I have no cause to denigrate the office of the president.

I also promise APC a robust and engaging opposition both in the South-West, and nationally, with me playing a prominent role.

Let me again state that I will continue to seek peace with my traducers and troublers of Ekiti.

Since the Supreme Court judgement which held my 2006 impeachment as illegal, unconstitutional, null and void and of no effect, my preachings have been peace. This is to see if a hand of fellowship as urged by elders in the state and the nation at large would bring sanity to the opposition camp. It definitely has nothing to do with cowardice; as Ekiti is a land of the brave.

In alerting the international community on what to expect from May 29 as regards the threat by the APC to make Ekiti ungovernable, I have decided to put on notice the United Nations (UN) and the African Union (AU) on the imminent reign of impunity by APC as from May 29.

Since Ekiti people are certain to resist the planned plundering of their land, Nigerians and the world at large should know who to hold responsible in the event of anarchy in Ekiti State in particular and the entire Yorubaland.

God bless our land.

Ayo Fayose,

Governor, Ekiti State

This law has permitted the establishment of a Cannabis Church in the State of Indiana. I was going to call but I wanted to introduce the topic here first. My point is that, now in Indiana, Indigenous Faith of Africa (‪#‎IFA‬ and more) can establish temples under the full protection of the new law. If you have been looking for a place to pitch a tent for ‪#‎IndigenousReligion‬ of any kind, Indiana State might just be the right place for all. Thank you.
