ABEOKUTA—Pandemonium broke out in some parts of Abeokuta, such as Iberekodo, Ago-Odo, Elega and Adatan yesterday, as two rival cult groups clashed, leaving three persons dead, including a newly-wedded man.

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has approved the recruitment of no fewer than 1300 teachers into all public primary schools across the State as part of efforts aimed at strengthening the quality of the Universal Basic Education Programme in Lagos State.


Executive Secretary of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Mrs. Abosede Adelaja who conveyed the Governor’s approval in Lagos on Tuesday, explained that the exercise will also achieve a balanced workforce of teachers in public primary schools in the State.

Landlord Set Tenant’s 3-year-old Son On Fire

A 65-year-old landlord, Joseph Olaleye have been captured by police investigators at Otta division of the Ogun State Command for supposedly setting his inhabitant three year old child, Abdulahi Razaq on fire leading the kid's passing.
The State Police Spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, in an announcement, noticed that the 65-year-old, who lives in Olowosatide, Owode Ijako Ota in Ado Odo Otta Local Government Area of the state carried out the act at around 1pm on Monday.
Adejobi said the suspect tossed a lighted stove at the deceased, subsequently bringing on extreme wounds on the victim and when he was rushed to a Hospital in Otta, the kid was confirmed dead.

Protesters Attempt to Break Into Ukraine's Parliament, Clash With Police

 The clashes come shortly after the Ukrainian parliament has approved President Petro Poroshenko's proposed constitutional amendments on decentralization in the first reading.

A blast has been heard during the protests near the Verkhovna Rada after several shots had been fired, 112.Ukraine TV channel reported. Local police told RIA Novosti that the reason of the incident is being investigated.

Pakistan, India disagree over detained Nigerian students' intentions

The Pakistani and Indian High Commissioners to Nigeria have disagreed over reports that the two Nigerian students that were arrested in India are on their way to join the terrorist group, Islamic State of Syria and Iraq.

While the Indian High Commissioner, Ajjampur Ghanashyam, insisted that the two youths from Kano, Imran Kabeer and Sani Jamiliu, were on their way to Pakistan to join ISIS, his Pakistani counterpart, Lt. Gen. Agha Farooq (retd.), described the report as false.

Delta Publisher Commits Suicide Over Poor Newspaper Sales


Arising from poor sales of his weekly newspaper and magazine, a publisher identified as Solomon (surname withheld), on Friday, allegedly committed suicide in Asaba, Delta State.

It was reliably gathered that the publisher, who resided in Achalla Layout area of Asaba, took his life in anguish following the advent of poor sales in his newspaper business.

A suicide note he allegedly left behind, a copy of which was made available to our correspondent, read, “I cannot stay alive suffering when nobody is helping me. Even my wife and children abandoned me and sales in my newspaper business have been very poor.”
