Ekiti Workers: We Won’t Accept Payment In Batches

EKITI State workers have said they will not accept payment of their salaries in batches.
The workers told Governor Ayo Fayose during his interface with them in the 16 local governments.
Workers at the forum in Igede-Ekiti, Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area, suggested that the government could merge two months’ allocations to pay them once. The governor, has allayed workers’ fear that they may not receive November salary on time for Christmas.
The governor, at his monthly media chat, “Meet Your Governor”, said core civil servants would not be paid in the next batch.

I’m not seeking to be praised but to be acknowledged that I made some little contributions.
“That money could have been wasted on frivolities but I was determined to keep something for the incoming government once we lost the election.”

The Nigerian presidency has warned those agitating for a breakaway Biafra republic to have a rethink, saying the federal government would not fold its hands and allow anyone plunge the country into crisis.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who gave the warning on Saturday, in Jos, said government would not watch while some individuals and groups create unnecessary tension in the country in the guise of seeking to break away from Nigeria.
“We need to build the civic capacity to defeat the false and dangerous premises and assumption of violence extremism. Never again should we allow mindless violence inspired by false and evil precepts to threaten our national security,” Mr. Osinbajo said.

Abubakar Audu To Be Buried Monday As Wada Declares 7-day Mourning

The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Kogi state who died on Sunday will be buried Monday morning according to Muslim rites. His opponent at the polls, Idris Wada who is incumbent governor of the state has declared seven days mourning for the late Audu. The APC governorship candidate, Prince Abubakar Audu, who was waiting to be declared the winner of the election, has instead been declared dead. He was said to have had a massive stroke around 3:10 pm today in his village of Ogbonicha and died. Some minutes after INEC returning officer Professor Emmanunel Kucha declared the result of the poll inconclusive. Family sources told PMNEWS that Audu has had a history of heart-related problems.

21 members of a Nigerian criminal organisation arrested



On Monday, Nov. 16, Catalan regional police launched a large-scale raid against human trafficking and sexual exploitation of women in Barcelona, Spain. 21 people, 15 men and 6 women, tall Nigerians, were arrested in the early morning operation for forcing Nigerian women into prostitution. Above is one of the arrested Nigerians The Central Unit against Human Trafficking disclosed that the suspects are part of a criminal organisation, known as "Supreme Eiye Confraternity", that has forced more than one hundred women into prostitution since the beginning of 2014. Investigators believe the group may have exploited dozens of women, many of whom were charged large sum of money to be brought to Spain from Africa with the promise of a job and a better life.

Saudi man arrested for abusing a donkey

Police in Al Bahah in southwestern Saudi Arabia have arrested a man for torturing a donkey. “We were able to identify the suspect following a complaint by a Saudi national about the torture of his donkey,” Saeed Saleh Trad, the spokesperson for Al Bahah police, said. “He was arrested and held in custody pending further investigations,” he told Saudi news site Sabq.

An investigation was launched after the man said that his donkey had been tied to a car and dragged for some distance on the asphalt.

US Media Shows Footage of Russian Airstrikes Passed Off as American


PBS NewsHour, a daily US television news program shown on the US Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), used footage of Russian airstrikes against ISIL targets, claiming that they were US airstrikes, an Information Clearing House article revealed.

Earlier this week, the US government said it would intensify anti-ISIL airstrikes and bomb the terrorist organization's oil infrastructure, which is ISIL's primary source of income.

CBN approves International Mobile Money Transfer


The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has approved international mobile money as part of international money transfer services nationwide. The CBN explained that the approval followed series of representations by financial stakeholders on the need to facilitate foreign exchange transactions through a more convenient and flexible payment window. It also said that its approval followed widespread use of mobile telephone in Nigeria and in recognition of telephone potential as a tool for financial inclusion and efficient payment system. According to the CBN the International Mobile Money Remittance Services would complement existing guidelines on the use of mobile telephone locally. The guidelines cover the business rules governing the operation of the IMMRS and specify the infrastructural and risk management requirements for international mobile payments services in Nigeria.

CNN Reporter Suspended for Sympathetic Tweet About Syrian Refugees

CNN journalist Elise Labott has been suspended by the network for two weeks for tweeting a message of disappointment on Thursday after US lawmakers passed a bill that would restrict the influx of Syrian refugees.

Labott, global affairs correspondent for CNN, tweeted "House passes bill that could limit Syrian refugees. Statue of Liberty bows head in anguish" along with a link to CNN's story on the piece, which Labott did not write.


Busted! China Uncovers $64 Billion 'Underground Bank'

Chinese authorities have unearthed an illegal banking operation which dealt with billions of dollars of foreign-exchange transactions.

As part of a crackdown on corruption, China has uncovered the largest "underground bank" in the country. Over 370 individuals involved in the scheme have been arrested, according to the People’s Daily, for handling 400 billion yuan ($64 billion) in illegal foreign-exchange transactions.

Audu’s display of vote wrong – Situation Room

The decision of the All Progressives Candidate governorship candidate in the ongoing governorship election in Kogi State, Abubakar Audu, to openly display his ballot paper after thumb-printing is wrong, according to a election monitoring group, the Situation Room.

The Situation Room is a platform of civil society organisations working on elections, good governance and other issues in Nigeria.


Deadly suicide attack rocks northern Cameroon

At least 10 people have been killed in a suicide attack near the Nigerian border in Cameroon’s Far North region, security sources have said. Dozens more were wounded in Saturday’s bombing in the village of Nigue, a suburb of Fotokol town, in an attack carried out by suspected members of Nigeria’s armed group, Boko Haram. “The initial figures speak of 10 dead including the suicide bombers and around a dozen wounded,” a senior Cameroonian army commander told the Reuters news agency. Local online publication L’Oeil du Sahel said that at least four suicide bombers were involved in the attack. The newspaper gave a different death toll, saying nine people, including five civilians, died in the incident.

Buhari condoles Putin, Obama, others over Mali’s hotel attack

President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday condemned the Friday’s terrorist attack on a hotel in Bamako, Mali.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, the President assured  President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita and the people of Mali of the full support and solidarity of the Federal Government and people of Nigeria as they mourn those who lost their lives in the attack and strive to bring the surviving perpetrators to justice.
