Presidency moves against emergency billionaires ..says holders of public office must account for their wealth

Serving and former public office holders will henceforth be made to account for their wealth, Vice President Yemi Osibajo (SAN), has said. He stated this at a town hall meeting convened by the United Action for Change, UAC in Lagos today Saturday April 23rd.

Osinbajo who fielded questions from various labour and professional organisations as well as individuals at the meeting held at the Ikeja Airport Hotel, said "the era of people becoming emergency billionaires is gone" and would no longer be tolerated by the Buhari-led administration.

The Nigerian Army on Friday April 22nd paraded Prince Onyemauche pictured above, accused of impersonation as a Colonel in the Army.

According to Army spokesman Colonel Sani Usman who paraded Onyemauche before journalists at the army headquarters in Abuja, said he was arrested alongside one sergeant Jacob Phillip by troops of 176 Special Forces Gurads Battalion along Wazobia Motor Park, Gwagwalada Abuja on Feb 17th.

Residents of Buni Yadi, a community in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State, returned home on April 16, two years after fleeing their town due to series of attacks from Boko Haram terrorists. On Friday, a National Logistics Committe set up by Customs to coordinate the transfer of seized goods in its Warehouses to IDP Camps in the North East and other places, arrived the town to distribute relief materials to the IDPs.

The suicide bomber detonated the strapped Improvised Explosive Device (IED) vest on his body, thus killing himself instantly when he was forced to halt based on suspicion that he was carrying suicide bombing material. The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu has recommissioned the Escravos-Warri-Kaduna pipeline stressing that both Warri and Kaduna refineries are now receiving crude simultaneously for the first time in many years.
The Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Mallam Garba Deen Muhammad in a press statement quoted Dr. Kachikwu as saying that Warri has started working while Kaduna will start production at the end of the month.

Woman who burned her newborn baby alive sentenced to 30 years in jail

A 23 year old New Jersey woman, Hyphernkemberly Dorvilier who hid her pregnancy from her family, gave birth and set her newborn daughter on fire in January 2015 and left her in the middle of a street to burn to death. Fortunately, a neighbour saw her, called the Police tried to save the baby by covering her in a towel and then held her down Dorvilier until the Police arrived. Dorvilier was found with a gas canister and lighter in her pockets.According to authorities, the baby was found with her umbilical cord and placenta still attached and had third-degree burns over 60 percent of her bod. She died two hours after she was flown to a Philadelphia hospital. Autopsy reports confirmed that the infant died of smoke inhalation and and burns.

8 family members shot in the head in execution-style killings in Ohio


Eight members of a family were all shot to death in what appeared to be "execution-style killings" Friday across four different locations in Pike County, Ohio, according to police authorities.
The victims were seven adults and one 16-year-old found in three homes on the same road.

Some of the victims appeared to have been killed in their sleep early this morning and were found shot to death in their beds,  Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine said at a news conference on Friday afternoon.

Two Men arrested in India for duping a woman and threatening her with 'judicial inquiry'

Two Nigerian men who duped the secretary of a serving Bombay High Court judge of Rs 2.2 lakh by befriending her on Facebook and eventually threatening her with ‘a judicial enquiry’, after she refused to make more payment were arrested by the cyber police station from New Delhi, India on Friday, April 22.

The Nigerian men identified as Casmir Chijioke and Oliver Onyeka befriended the woman with one of them pretending to be a UK national. According to the BKC cyber police, the complainant, who approached them on April 6, told them that a few months ago, she received a friend request on Facebook from a British national. She accepted the request and the two started chatting online, said an officer.

Photos: 3 Cameroonian soldiers killed by Boko Haram militants in Dabanga bordering Nigeria


Three Cameroonian army personal, including one officer, were killed on Monday night, April 18in the country's far-North region by suspected Boko Haram terrorists. Army source told Xinhua on Wednesday morning said that the three soldiers (Lieutenant Njilie and another pictured ) from Rapid Intervention Battalion, a special unit of Cameroon's army were ambushed when they were on a monitoring mission in Dabanga bordering Nigeria.

I Conveyed Guns To Lagos APC Campaign Venues – Cultist (photo)

A self-confessed cultist, Muhideen Ibrahim, who was arrested by the Lagos State Police Command, has said he conveyed guns to the All Progressives Congress campaign venues during the 2015 electioneering on the Lagos Island.

Ibrahim, 29, from Kwara State, added that he took two pump-action rifles to the governorship primaries held at the Tafawa Balewa Square in the Onikan area for the “protection of my gang’s candidate”.

BARRING any last minute change of plan, a re-jig would soon be announced in the Senate and some principal officers, especially members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), would vacate their positions.

This, Daily Sun learnt, is part of the new agreement reached by the feuding lawmakers to douse the lingering crisis that has rocked the Senate since inception last year.

Part of the option on the table is the ceding of the position of the Senate Majority Leader to the Barnabas Gemade-led Unity Forum in line with the earlier position of the leadership of the APC.

THE Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested the Director of Finance of the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation, Senator Nenadi Usman, for allegedly receiving N2.5bn from the Central Bank of Nigeria.
A top official of the EFCC, who confided in The PUNCH, said the former minister was arrested on Thursday in Abuja.
All funds that came from the Presidency during the campaign were believed to have come through Usman.

Soldiers Kill Boko Haram Militants At Bulari - Graphic Pics


The Nigerian army has recorded another victory in the battle against Boko Haram terrorists. On Thursday, 21st April 2016, troops of 21 Brigade Nigerian Army carried out clearance operations at Bulari, Tori 1, 2 and 3 during which they successfully cleared the general area of remnants of Boko Haram terrorists.

During the operation, 10 terrorists were killed and one was captured alive. Unfortunately, 2 Civilian JTF accompanying the troops lost their lives. The troops rescued 7 civilians and recovered a Volkswagen Golf car, 15 bicycles and various bags of foodstuffs.

In line with its anti-corruption drive, the Federal Government has been challenged to recover over N7.1trillion, being all the outstanding sums trapped in among individuals and operators in Nigeria’s petroleum industry.

The charge comes as the President Muhammadu Bahari’s administration is desperately looking for ways and means, including borrowings from offshore to fund its N6.01 trillion National Budget for 2016.
The sum comprises misappropriated and unremitted funds withheld by the respective parties, which should have been paid into government coffers.

DPR Blames Marketers As Petrol Scarcity Worsens - PUNCH

After recording a slight improvement for about four days, the petrol scarcity and the attendant queues in Abuja and neighbouring states of Kaduna, Nasarawa and Niger grew worse on Thursday as hundreds of motorists besieged the few filling stations that dispensed the product.

While attendants at some of the other stations claimed not to have the product, the very few outlets that sold petrol were heavily crowded.

There are uncertainties about the availability of petrol, as most depots are without stock, while marketers have reportedly not been importing due to scarcity of foreign exchange.

According to a major marketer, who chose to remain anonymous, “we cannot be talking about stock level because there is no stock at all. No depot has up to 5,000 metric tonnes of petrol, which is about 200 trucks. Once there is supply, it is distributed immediately.”

Crude Prices Hit $46 A Barrel Record-year High


Crude oil prices hit a year-record high of $46 a barrel yesterday, giving Nigeria a buffer of $8 over its $38 a barrel 2016 budget benchmark, a feat, which it has not attained since January.


Specifically, Brent crude rose by 77 cents from a session low this morning to hit $46 a barrel by 7.50am UK time, while the US, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) futures were up by 19 cents from $43.62 to $44.37 a barrel.

Saraki Rejects Omolori As Clerk To The National Assembly.

The president of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, has requested the National Assembly Service Commission to reverse the appointment of Mohammed Sani-Omolori, as the Clerk to the Assembly, to allow further consultations.
Mr. Sani-Omolori was named the acting Clerk to the National Assembly on Wednesday in a letter by the Executive Chairman of the NASC. He was until his appointment the Clerk of the House of Representatives.
