Brigadier General, F Yahaya, Nigeria Army: The renewed attacks and sabotage to oil and gas facilities in the Niger Delta Region, particularly in Delta State which have adversely impacted on the crude oil production and the supply of gas been particularly worrisome and of concern to this Brigade and to the Nigerian Army and Operation PULO SHIELD. Several cases of sabotage were recorded in Delta State from 1 January 2016 to date and there were still further warnings of more damages to oil and gas assets and threats to shut down all operations in the sector.

Pipeline Vandals Battle With Police In Elebute, Ogun

Residents of Elebute community in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, yesterday, fled their homes to avoid being caught in the crossfire as policemen and pipeline vandals clashed. Vanguard gathered that the vandals engaged policemen and other security agents in a shootout that lasted over an hour at the early hours of yesterday, in an attempt to rescue two of their colleagues that were arrested.

It was reported that they also attempted to deflate the tyres of the Police Armoured Personnel Carrier, APC, but their attempt was frustrated. However, some police vans were destroyed though no life was lost. At noon yesterday, three APCs were seen stationed at Ibafo junction with over 50 heavily-armed security personnel, comprising police, soldiers, and National Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, patrolling the area.

President Muhammadu Buhari, has called on the National Assembly to quickly pass the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Bill 2016 and others currently before it.

Stock Market Lost N1.732tn In One Year Under Buhari

The Nigerian stock market crashed by N1.732tn within one year of the Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government.

The Nigerian Stock Exchange data showed that the NSE market capitalisation on May 28, 2015 was N11.658tn, while that of May 27, 2016 was N9.926tn.


Market capitalisation is the total market value of the shares outstanding of a publicly traded company.

The NSE All-Share Index also crashed to 28,902.25 basis points from 34,310.37 basis points.

The power sector has been losing an average of N2bn daily since the resurgence of pipeline bombings by militants in the Niger Delta, latest electricity supply statistics have shown.

This is coming as the number of functional gas-fired power generating turbines across the country has dropped from 50 that were operational in April to about 30 as of the end of last week.

Abu, who lives at 6, Mosque Close, Isheri-Olofin, Lagos State, was arraigned before Magistrate Osusanmi and sentenced last Friday for sexually assaulting the girl Monday last week.

Military Deploy Fighter Jets , Surveillance Aircrafts To Track Avengers

THE military deployed fighter jets and surveillance aircrafts in the creeks of Delta State this morning to comb for members of the Niger Delta Avengers. Some residents of riverine communities in Warri South West local government called Vanguard on phone at about 10.00am, saying that fighter jets and surveillance aircrafts were flying about in their area.
It was gathered that the fighter jets belong to the Nigeria Airforce and that the security agencies were now strongly collaborating to outwit the militants. Earlier today at about 4. 30am, soldiers swooped on Kurutie community in search of the Avengers .

Four Dead, 19 Injured in Explosion in Turkey's Silopi

Four were killed and 19 injured in an explosion in Silopi, a town in southeastern Turkey, N-TV reported.

According to NTV television, an improvised bomb placed in a sewer exploded on a street of the Silopi township as a police car was passing by. There are five policemen among the wounded.

Authorities suspect Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) involvement in the attack, NTV said.

Soldiers Avert Attacks On Pipelines At Gulobokri, Ewele

The Nigerian army on Sunday said troops on patrol in the Niger-Delta region averted attacks by militants on some critical oil infrastructures.

A statement by Army spokesman Colonel Sani Usman, said troops of 343 Artillery Regiment and of 2 Brigade, 82 Division of the Nigerian Army in the early hours of today carried out patrol within the general area of Gulobokri and Eweleso, around Brass area in Bayelsa State.

Usman said the patrol team encountered some armed militants in two speed boats with intent to blow up Nigeria Agip Oil Company (NAOC) pipeline in Gulobokri.

Buhari Set To Attend ECOWAS Summit In Senegal on Friday

President Muhammadu Buhari is scheduled to embark on a one-day trip to Dakar, Senegal for the 49th Extra-Ordinary Summit of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).  According to an itinerary exclusively obtained by SaharaReporters, President Buhari will depart Abuja on Friday June 3rd  and return to Abuja on June 4th after the conclusion of the summit. The ECOWAS meeting would be Mr. Buhari's first trip out of Abuja after his last-minute cancelation last week of a planned trip to Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial hub.
The president had blamed an ear infection for canceling the visit to Lagos where he was scheduled to commission some projects finished by Governor Ambode.
A source at the Presidency told SaharaReporters that the ECOWAS meeting would focus on issues of regional security and economic development.

Bomb Blast At Military Checkpoint In Biu, Many Feared killed - Mezie Times

A powerful explosion believed to be from a suicide car bomb this morning rocked a military checkpoint along the Biu-Damaturu road, killing unspecified number of persons, witnesses told MEZIE TIMES. President Mohammadu Buhari has shifted the responsibility of naming the looters of national assets and the details of the loot to the Ministry of Information.

Recall that the president had at various times in the recent times assured Nigerians that he would make public the details of the money recovered from looters during his Democracy Day national address.
