The former Minister of Health Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu stated Nigeria will soon be declared free of EVD following, after 42 days, the discharge of the last case of the disease from the hospital. Mr. Chukwu said, “Like I said in my speech at the UN General Assembly, as long as there is a single case of Ebola in any part of the world, every country is at risk. So this is really theoretical and countries would still have to take the necessary measures to guard against the outbreak of the virus in their territories.” In moving Nigeria forward, President Jonathan has continued to assure Nigerians the federal government will continue to put in adequate measures to prevent possible reintroduction of the virus into the country.
