Ivory Coast 1s Lady bags 20 years imprisonment for post election violence

Previous Ivorian First Lady Mrs Simone Gbagbo has been sentenced to 20 years detainment by an Ivorian court for arranging post Election brutality after her spouse, Laurent Gbagbo missed out in the 2010 Presidential decisions in Ivory Coast.


In an unanimous judgment yesterday March tenth, the court said Mrs Gbagbo together with her spouse’s supporters, in the wake of dismissing the outcomes from the decisions that saw her spouse’s principle rival, Alassane Ouattara announced victor of the decision, completed exercises that undermined the state security which left more than 3000 individuals dead.


Laurent Gbagbo’s son from a previous marriage, Michel Gbagbo, was additionally sentenced to 5 years detainment for his part in the post decision viciousness. Legal counselors to Mrs Gbagbo say they would be appealing the judgment.
