Speaking at the event, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Akin Orebiyii, apologised for challenges in the conduct of the March 28 presidential election.

He maintained that the commission would make use of the smart card readers alone for accreditation, noting that the problems which led to failure of the devices during the presidential poll have been resolved.  Orebiyi further warned that all political campaigns must stop by 12 midnight on Thursday. He stressed that candidates or party agents caught campaigning on Election Day would be arrested by security agents.

The Lagos Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, Mr. Cyril Akhanemhe, and the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kayode Aderanti, both of whom attended the forum which held prior to the presidential polls, were absent.
