Labatan: Nurse Injects His Patient With Overdose Of Sleeping Drugs For Supporting GEJ During Elections

The Federal Neuropsychiatry Hospital, Enugu has set a male nurse , Alozie Ejimadu on three months suspension for supposedly infusing a patient and supporter of President Goodluck Jonathan with powerful sleeping medications amid the March 28,2015 race, Daily Post reports.

Ejimadu, subsequent to infusing the patient, took to his Facebook wall and gloated that the patient would rest till the outcome was declared.

He posted:

“The announcement of the presidential election has reached a crescendo, a patient cried, saying she is unhappy because Jona lost. I didn’t hesitate to silence her with injection paraldehyde 10ml stat; chlorpromazine 150mg and IV diazepam 20mg stat.
“This will keep her sleeping till tomorrow when the final result is announced. Anybody who dare thinks like my patient will certainly receive a double dose (ARA GBAKA KWA NDI ARA AHU- those mad people should get mad the more)”

It was gathered that a non-governmental organisation, Centre for the Right of Psychiatric Patient, irked by the post, petitioned the board chairman of the hospital.

“Mr. Alozie’s activity is unbecoming of a psychiatric nurse. We demand the hospital to remove him from the clinical area; suspend him to identify the patient and assess possible damage,” the petition read.

It was gathered that following the petition, the head of clinical services, in a letter dated May 7, sent Ejimadu packing.

The nurse has since denied the allegation claiming that his Facebook post was fictional –  nurse1
