Police Arrest Oshiomole's Driver

Security operatives attached to the Edo state government arrested one of the drivers in the convoy of Governor Adams Oshiomhole. Leadership reports that the driver was apprehended on Friday, September 25, over his alleged attempts to break into the account section of Edo state government house. It was learnt that on Wedenesday evening there was large lodgement of cash, which was probably meant to offset some expenses towards the Sallah festival.

The security operatives were on routine check when they noticed the suspect cutting off protectors in the accounts office. On sighting the operatives, the suspected thief attempted to escape. However, he had already been identified by the security men who followed him up and arrested. The suspect was transported to the Aideyan police station in Benin.

Meanwhile, a top security source in the government house who disclosed how the incident happened, said that a thorough investigation would be carried out to find out whether the driver acted alone or in concert with others. Confirming the incident, Stephen Onwuchei, the spokesman of the Edo state police command, said:
“There was a report of such nature. It is still at investigation level. The commissioner of police has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to take over the investigation. “As I speak with you, the DC State CID should be in Government House to visit the scene of crime.”
