Baltimore City School teacher charged with rape of teen

A Baltimore City School teacher has been charged with second-degree rape, after investigators say he had sex with a 15-year-old girl in his Parkville home.
Police responded to an area hospital for a sex offense report on the afternoon of November 10. The victim was examined at the hospital and interviewed by detectives.

The initial investigation indicates that the teen went to the suspect's home on November 9. According to police, the suspect is a family friend and the teen's mother sent her to the suspect's home for help with a school assignment.
Once there the victim and suspect drank alcoholic beverages, police said.
According to officials the suspect took the victim into the living room and had intercourse with her, and later that night had intercourse or sexual contact with the victim multiple times.
"The investigation further indicated that the victim was not in a condition where she could resist action by the suspect," police wrote in a release on Friday.
Investigators say that the suspect, 39-year-old Taki Kentae Lewis, did not teach at the school where the victim attended. No other victims have been identified at this time.
Baltimore City Public School officials released the following statement:
On Tuesday, November 10, Baltimore City Public Schools received notice that Taki Lewis, a teacher at National Academy Foundation, had been charged with second degree rape and sexual abuse of a minor. The reported abuse occurred in Baltimore County, where Lewis is resident. The victim is not a student at the school where Lewis was assigned. Upon receiving notification of the charges, City Schools immediately placed Lewis on administrative leave. City Schools will closely monitor this matter and will take further prompt action as appropriate.
Lewis is charged with second-degree rape, sexual abuse of a minor, and related charges. He is being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on $400,000 bail.
