Enough Is Enough, IGP Tells MASSOB, IPOB

… Orders massive deployment of mobile police personnel to South-East states, others
INSPECTOR General of Police (IGP), Solomon Arase, yesterday warned members of Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), not to provoke the will of the police and other security agencies with continuous threat to public peace.
Arase said the warning became necessary following alleged increasing acts of brigandage by MASSOB and IPOB, which threatens national security and public peace in the South-East and conterminous states.

The IGP said the police would no longer fold its law enforcement arms to allow few misguided elements continually force hardship on fellow Nigerians in any part of the country.
He has ordered the deployment of Police Mobile Force (PMF) across the country to reinforce security in states where MASSOB and IPOB are currently threatening peace and stability.
He has equally directed Assistant Inspectors Generals of Police in charge of Zones 5, 6, and 9 and all Commissioners of Police in the affected states in the South-East and neighbouring states to exercise their statutory mandate in relation to prevention and disruption of any gathering which threatens public order and national cohesion.

“Any person or group of persons so arrested in furtherance to the enforcement of this order will be made to face the full wrath of the law.”
Arase, who gave the warning in a statement issued in Abuja, said the blockade of the Onitsha end of Niger Bridge on Tuesday, by the group which resulted in hardship on motorists, business activities and other law abiding citizens of the country, would no longer be tolerated by the police.
