A former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, Rotimi Fashakin, has accused a former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, of spreading lies in the media in a bid to defend the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Fashakin, who is a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, said this on Tuesday in a Facebook post while reacting to Fani-Kayode’s open letter to Buhari.
Fani-Kayode had accused Buhari of victimising Jonathan even as he maintained that Jonathan bought weapons to fight Boko Haram.
However, Fashakin said retired Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, who served as the Chief of Defence Staff, revealed that the military was not well equipped.
Fashakin, therefore, wondered why Fani-Kayode would twist facts.
He also said there was the need for Fani-Kayode, who was the spokesperson for the Peoples Democratic Party’s Presidential Campaign Organisation, to tell the world how much he received from Jonathan to lie.
He said, “The fact of history which, neither you nor any of your co-travellers in the business of historical revisionism can controvert, is that Jonathan’s locust years have laid the foundation for the current famine pervading the Nigerian nation.
“You need to come clean on how much the Jonathan administration gave you for the five months of verbal assaults unleashed on the real and imaginary adversaries of former President Jonathan! Furthermore, I do not want to believe you have suddenly added selective amnesia into the mix of the afflictions already ravaging your being.
“Was it not Air Chief Marshall Alex Badeh, former President Jonathan’s appointee as Chief of Defence Staff, who said shortly after retirement that the last time there was any procurement of military hardware was during former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s regime?
“Is that not corroborated by the supporting evidence of the Office of the National Security Adviser turning into cashier for funnelling money set aside for security purposes into the private pockets of PDP zealots like yourself?”
Fashakin also berated Fani-Kayode for rubbishing Buhari’s war against corruption when even ‘the international community had attested to the fact that Jonathan’s administration promoted corruption.’
He said Fani-Kayode’s reputation as a rabble-rouser had already made Nigerians not to take him seriously anymore.
