The Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, on Thursday, threw out the application by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, where he sought for the self disqualification of the Chairman of the tribunal, Danladi Umar.
Saraki through one of his counsels, Oluyele Rapheal informed the tribunal of a pending application for the tribunal Chairman , Danladi Umar to disqualify himself.
Rapheal in his argument insisted that the application be heard due to the alleged shady dealings of the Chairman.
“There are so many stories of the tribunal Chairman’s dealing with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
“I’m here to do my job and have the right to be heard.”
But EFCC’s counsel, Rotimi Jacobs in his response urged the tribunal not to entertain the application because it’s not ripe for hearing.
The tribunal Chairman, Danladi Umar held that the application shall not be “entertained and is hereby thrown out. Let’s move to the business of the day.”
Saraki is standing trial for false assets declaration while he was the governor of Kwara State.
