Governors Ask Buhari To Declare Nigeria’s Economic Recession National Emergency

The Nigeria Governors Forum, NGF, has called on the Federal Government to urgently national emergency on the current Nigeria’s economic recession.

The governors gave this charge in a three-point communiqué read by the Chairman of the Forum and Zamfara Governor, Abdulaziz Yari, in Abuja on Friday.

The governors also resolved to support the Federal Government to continue to “reflate” the nation’s economy out of the present crisis.

According to the communiqué, the governors agreed to set up state task forces on polio eradication, with their deputy governors as Heads.

The chairman said that the governors also discussed the recurring incident of Lassa fever and resolved to collaborate with the Federal Ministry of Health to address the challenge.

Yari added that the governors traced the history of Lassa fever to the late 1950s and noted that African nations have yet to find a permanent solution to the problem.

“So, we are going to engage the ministry of health to discuss and find lasting solution to Lassa fever,’’ he added.

Relatively, the Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, has assured Nigerians that the current economic recession the nation was experiencing will not be prolonged.

Adeosun gave the assurance on Friday in Abuja while addressing a news conference.

She said that there was a strategic plan by the administration to see that the recession ended soon and also ensure that the economy recovered fully.
