Fayose closes fuel station of Ekiti House speaker, others


Barely a week after assuming office as governor of Ekiti state, Ayo Fayose yesterday October 22nd shut down a fuel station belonging to the Ekiti state House of Assembly speaker, Dr Adewale Omirin, and a few others saying that the fuel stations posed environmental hazard to where they were located.

Reacting to the closure of his filling station, the Speaker said the governor was only out to victimize him for not defecting from his political party, APC to the PDP which Fayose belongs to.

 People from this little girl's school just reached out to me. They say the girl's father's lover has been allegedly battering her. Her name is Blessing Osayande and she's a Pry 2 pupil of South Royal School in Benin. The girl's school authority said they have called the father and talked to him several times after seeing injuries on her body but apparently the abuse has not stopped.

2015 World Cup Ticket: Super Falcons Beat South Africa To Earn AWC Final Place


Nigeria’s Super Falcons beat South Africa’s Banyana Banyana 2-1 on Wednesday in Windhoek, Namibia to qualify for the final match of the 9th African Women Championship (AWC). In the semi-final match played at the Sam Nujoma Stadium, Asisat Oshoala scored twice in the first half to keep the six-times African champions in the driving seat. The star player of the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in August opened scores in the 38th minute after a great run and a shot helped in by a defender. Six minutes later, the most impressive player at the youth championship in Canada ensured her team would be making a return to Canada in June with the second goal.

Ebola Claims 300 More Lives in Five Days: WHO

The number of deaths, caused by Ebola virus, has increased by more than 300 in five days, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported Wednesday. According to the situation report, released by WHO on Wednesday, "a total of 4,877 deaths have been reported." Moreover, "a total of 9,936 confirmed, probable, and suspected cases of Ebola virus disease have been reported in five affected countries (Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Spain, and the United States of America) and two previously affected countries (Nigeria and Senegal) up to the end of 19 October." As of October 14, the organization reported about 4,546 deaths and 9,191 virus cases.

Soldier Dies After Ottawa Shooting: Canadian Minister


The soldier, who was shot at Ottawa's National War Memorial, has died and a security guard has been wounded, Canada's Minister of Employment and Social Development Jason Kenney said Wednesday.

“Condolences to family of the soldier killed, & prayers for the Parliamentary guard wounded. Canada will not be terrorized or intimidated,” Kenney wrote on his Twitter account.
The soldier, who was standing guard at the National War Memorial in Ottawa, was shot by an unidentified gunman Wednesday morning. Canadian parliamentarian Bernard Trottier informed on his Twitter that the attacker had been shot and killed.

The existence of corruption among Hungarian officials can be proved with readily available information from numerous sources, Marie Harf, deputy spokesperson for the US State Department, said Wednesday.

"The entry bans [imposed by the United States against Hungarian officials] are based on a range of authoritative information concerning corruption in the Hungarian government, readily available from numerous sources, such as watchdog NGOs, whistleblowers, and a range of civil society groups charged with upholding government transparency," Harf said in a statement.
According to the deputy spokesperson, Hungary and the United states have "agreed to work together to address concerns about democracy [and] corruption".
