Zimbabwe Demands Extradition of American Dentist Who Killed Cecil the Lion
Zimbabwe has requested the extradition of the American dentist Walter Palmer who traveled to Zimbabwe and killed Cecil the lion after paying $50,000 for the hunt.
Walter Palmer was a “foreign poacher” who paid for an illegal hunt and he should be extradited to Zimbabwe to face justice, environment minister Oppah Muchinguri said on Friday, media reports.

Chadian army kill 100 Boko Haram militants
At least 100 militants have been killed in an operation launched a fortnight ago against Boko Haram jihadists holed up in the islands of Lake Chad, the Chadian army said in a statement Friday.
“117 terrorists have been killed, two Chadian soldiers died and two others were wounded” in the operation, said army spokesman Colonel Azem Bermendoa Agouna, adding the operation was ongoing.
There was no immediate confirmation of the toll by an independent source.

Tragedy struck on Friday morning in the Mechanic Village area of Oke Afa, Isolo, Lagos, when a midnight fire ravaged some shops, burning three sisters to death in the process.

Female suicide bomber targets Maiduguri market
A female suicide bomber blew herself up Friday at a big market in the northeast Nigerian city of Maiduguri, a vigilante and a witness said.
“There had been a suicide attack on Gamboru market this morning. It was a female suicide bomber. The attack happened around 6:30 am (0530 GMT) as the grocers were arriving in the market which starts early,” said the vigilante, Babakura Kolo.
There is no immediate information on the number of victims, although witness accounts suggest that there have been casualties.

Ebola vaccine shows ‘promising’ results – WHO
Preliminary results of tests on an Ebola vaccine to be published later Friday in British science magazine The Lancet have shown “promising” results, World Health Organization Director-General Margaret Chan said.
“Early results of the vaccine are exciting and promising,” Chan said, adding: “If they are confirmed it will change the management of the Ebola outbreak.”
More than 11,200 people have died in an Ebola outbreak in west Africa that began in late 2013 in Guinea — the worst on record.

Boko Haram: African diplomats vow to support Nigeria
The African Diplomatic Group has condemned the terror attacks carried out by the Boko Haram sect in parts of the country.
The diplomats also called on the Federal Government to expedite action for the rescue or release of the abducted Chibok school girls even as they commiserated with the government of Nigeria, the families of the kidnapped girls and other victims of the terrorists’ attacks.
