3 sisters aged 5, 7 and 12 years old, all from the same parents, were burnt to death in a fire outbreakat their shop in Mechanic Village area of Oke Afa, Isolo, Lagos in the early hours of yesterday July 31st. Residents say the sisters lived in the shop which is owned by their guardian. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
Their corpses have been dropped at the morgue by police officers from the Ejigbo police station. Wrestling legend "Rowdy" Roddy Piper has died at the age of 61
Wrestling legend "Rowdy" Roddy Piper has died at the age of 61. Piper, born Roderick George Toombs, died from cardiac arrest in his sleep at his home in Hollywood on Thursday night but was discovered on Friday.
Piper had been diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2006 but last November he said he was cancer free. Piper was a wrestling icon one of the biggest stars in the WWE back in the '80s, and even wrestled in "Wrestlemania I" back in 1985, squaring off against Hulk Hogan and Mr. T.
Piper was admitted into the WWE Hall of Fame back in 2005 and was one of the top 50 villains in the history of the WWE. Piper had a long relationship with WWE the last time he last wrestled was back in 2008, but has appeared on various WWE shows up until 2014.
Piper is survived by his wife Kitty and their 4 kids. 3 daughters and son Colton.
Naomi Campbell found guilty of assault, gets 6 months suspended prison sentence
Supermodel Naomi Campbell has been found guilty of assault following her encounter with a paparazzo photographer in August 2009. The photographer, Gaetano Di Giovanni, accused Naomi of scratching his eye and hitting him with a handbag when he attempted to take pictures of her and her former Russian billionaire boyfriend, Vladimir Doronin as they walked through the Sicilian island of Lipar in 2009.
Di Giovanni said Naomi noticed he was taking photos of her and Vladimir and attacked him with her handbag. She scratched one of his eyes and he needed medical treatment following the incident and took three days to recover, he testified in court.
Naomi was convicted of assault by a Sicilian court yesterday Friday July 31st and received a six months suspended prison sentence.

Cecil The Lion fundraiser led by Jimmy Kimmel has surpassed $150k
Earlier this week, Jimmy Kimmel who got very emotional about the death of Cecil the Lion made a heartfelt plea for his viewers to donate to Oxford's Wildlife Conservation Research Unit, who were studying Cecil via a GPS collar, in order to "show the world that not all Americans are like this jack****." He meant the Dentist of course.
“If you want to make this into a positive, you can,” he said, before choking up. “Make a donation. Support them. At the very least maybe we can show the world that not all Americans are like this jack****.”

President Buhari orders immediate release of N5billion pledge to Boko Haram victims
According to reports, President Buhari yesterday directed the Head of Service of the Federation, Mr. Danladi Kifasi, to release the N5billion the government pledged to the Victims Support Fund (VSF), since July 2014. He made the order after the Chairman of the Funds Presidential Committee, Lt. Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (rtd.) told him that out of the N55.92 billion pledged at a fund-raising dinner for the Fund in August last year, N33.54 billion was still outstanding, including N5 billion from the Federal Government. According to him, the VSF currently has N23.33 billion in four bank accounts, revealing that the government of former President Jonathan gave the Committee approval to incorporate the fund into a Trust Fund, to “insulate it from political interference’’.
