The ongoing ministerial briefing of the President at the State House, Abuja, put a spotlight on an important sector long neglected by previous administrations, yet one that can create millions of jobs.

Catholic priest killed in Imo

During the weekend, a Claretian priest of the Catholic Church was murdered in Owerri, Imo state.

The priest, whose full identity could not be ascertained at press time, was an academic staff of Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo, in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Andrew Enwerem, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, confirmed the incident, he said the priest was murdered by assassins on a bush path.

Police arrest 78-year-old man for raping girl, 11

Police in Lagos have arrested a 78-year-old man, Alhaji Dauda Adebowale, for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl, Remilekun (not her real name).

The incident was said to have happened in Pen Cinema, in the Agege area of the state.
It was learnt that some time in June 2015, Remilekun was passing by a shop where the old man lived alone when he called to send her on an errand.

One patient at a hospital in France got the most unlikely of shocks when he went for a check-up on a leg injury - to be told he was missing half of his brain.The 44-year-old father-of-two, who has not been identified, amazed doctors who could not believe he had survived.

The bizarre diagnosis has only just been brought to light in the respected medical journal, The Lancet, but actually happened in 2007.

Indonesian Twin-Turbo Aircraft Carrying 54 People Just Disappears

An Indonesian  aircraft carrying 54 people lost contact with air traffic control on Sunday in the remote, forested eastern Papua region, the National Search and Rescue Agency (BASARNAS) said, with search efforts hampered by failing light as night falls.

"We can't confirm it has crashed. We can say contact has been lost with the plane," BASARNAS chief Bambang Soelystyo told Reuters by phone.

"It's a Trigana airline plane carrying 54 people including 5 crew. We are working to get more details."

Teenager gets 28 years in prison for stabbing his Mum to death

A North Miami-Dade teen who stabbed his mother to death with a butcher knife then lived with the body for eight days, even throwing a party pleaded guilty Friday and agreed to spend 28 years in prison.

Kit Darrant pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for the March 2012 slaying of Renette Emile, 35.

The plea deal will spare his younger brother and aunt from having to relive the gruesome facts of the case at trial, a prosecutor told the judge.

23-year-old admission seeker commits suicide in Lagos

On Sunday a 23-year-old, identified only as Ugochukwu, was found hanging in his apartment in Festac. It was gathered that on Sunday at about 12pm, Ugochukwu’s mother, identified only as Ngozi, and his two siblings came back from church to find him hanging in the sitting room, dead.

Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) and the Islamic State (ISIS) have already used the recent success of the Saudi Arabia-led forces to increase their territorial control and boost their actions in central and southern Yemen. $600m Chinese Rail Loan Not Diverted – Okonjo-iweala

The immediate past Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, on Sunday described as untrue allegation that a substantial part($600m) of the $1bn Chinese loan obtained for railway projects, was diverted.

Okonjo-Iweala, in a statement by her Media Adviser, Mr Paul Nwabuikwu, also explained that contrary to the allegation, the Kano-Lagos rail project was not part of the project listed for funding from the Chinese loan.

Tragedy struck on Majente Street, in Akute, Ogun State, when Ekene, the younger brother of 25-year-old Kenneth Chikwado Agbamone stabbed him to death following an al­tercation about washing dirty plates.

Kenneth and Ekene had a heated argument because the younger one failed to wash dirty plates the family ate with earlier in the evening.

1,150 PDP Members Defect To APC In Bayelsa

The All Progressive Congress (APC)’s quest to takeover the governorship seat in Bayelsa State got a boost today as the party received 1,150 new members ahead of the governorship election in the state slated for December 5, 2015.


The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that all the new members defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Some of those who defected were Mr Wenirepe Seibarogu, a former Deputy Governor, Mr Sam Inokoba, former state PDP Chairman, and Mr Timi Alaibe, former Managing Director of the NDDC.
Others include Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri and a former member of House of Representative, Mr Nadu Karibo.

Russian Su-27 Fighter Aircraft Can Destroy Three New US F-35s

Currently, the US Department of Defense (DOD) is reviewing the total number of F35s it will purchase. According to a report released by the National Security Network, the DOD plans to purchase and operate nearly 2, 500 aircrafts costing US around $1.4 trillion.

In light of that, analyst Bill French wrote a report titled “Thunder without lightning: high cost and limited benefit development program of F-35,” reviewing the new aircraft.
