New wage formula for legislators to be released next month- RMAFC boss says

The chairman of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission commission, Elias Mbam says a new wage formula for members of the National assembly will be released next month by the commission. RMAFC is the government agency saddled with the responsibility of determining the remunerations of political office holders in Nigeria.

Jonathan recruited 1600 into Immigration, not Parradang - NIS Senior Officers


Some concerned Senior officials of the Nigerian Immigration Service have released a statement defending their suspended boss, Mr. David Parradang, in the controversial recruitment exercise that rocked the agency during the last administration.

Four Nigerians In Arrested Jakarta Over Proper Stay Permits


Jakarta. An immigration office in Jakarta on Tuesday arrested four Nigerian nationals without proper stay permits at an apartment complex in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta.

Hambali Haryadinata, head of the North Jakarta Immigration Office, said that officers on Tuesday morning had raided the apartment units of the four Nigerians, identified as VC, DC, CF, and FU, after receiving reports over suspicious activities from other residents.

ABUJA – President Mohammdu Buhari has emphasised the importance of National identity card to all Nigerians of voting age, stating that it would in the future complement the Voters card.

The president who registered on Tuesday at the presidential Villa, Abuja to obtain his national identity card urged Nigerians to embrace the exercise.

Speaking to State House Correspondents after the registration that was supervised by Director-General of the National Identity Management Commission, NIMC, Mr. Chris Onyemenam said for the purposes of credible elections, Nigerians should ensure that get registered.

Resign Or Be Sacked From INEC – Ozekhome Warns Amina Zakari

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mike Ozekhome, has again called for the resignation of Amina Zakari as the acting Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

His call followed speculations that President Muhammadu Buhari may make her substantive head of the commission.

Zakari, who was National Commissioner at INEC, replaced Prof. Attahiru Jega, whose five-year tenure as the INEC chairman ended on June 30.

'I beat my wife for refusing to have sex with me' 40 year old man tells court

A man named Salau Kehinde who was accused of beating his wife told a Customary Court in Ikorodu, Lagos that he indeed physically abuses his wife whenever she refuses to have sex with him.


His wife, Shakirat approached the court seeking for dissolution of their 10-year old marriage that has produced two children. This was because of his continuous assault anytime she returned from work and refused to have sex because she was either too tired or for other reasons.

Woman runs over her husband after arguement, kills him (Graphic)

A woman intentionally ran over her husband in Lanham, MD, Maryland, USA with her SUV on Sunday afternoon after they argued over something. The man, who you can see under the tyre (right pic) was pronounced dead on the scene.
 The suspect, Araceli Alvarez-Mendoza, 37, and her husband, Fernando Fragoso-Duana, 36, got into an argument at their home on the 9400 block of Worrell Avenue, according to Prince George's County police. Fragoso-Duana then left the home and began walking in the neighborhood.

Ikorodu robbery suspects sue IGP; say they were forced to make false statements


The four armed robbery suspects arrested in July in connection with the Ikorodu Bank robbery which occurred on June 24th, have dragged the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase before a Federal High Court in Lagos over claims that they were forced to confess to being part of an 18-man armed robbery gang that attacked the banks.

The four men were paraded before newsmen on July 6th where they confessed to being involved in the robbery attack. The court paper which has been filed before Justice Mohammed Yunusa through their lawyer, A Akanbi, states that they made confessional statement to newsmen under duress.

Pregnant woman, baby, among those killed in Damaturu bomb blast


A pregnant woman and a baby were among those who died in a twin suicide bomb attack at a bus terminal in Damaturu in Yobe state this morning. The state police commands spokesperson, DSP Toyin Gbadegeshin said this to news men after the incident


“The suicide bomb girl detonated the explosive at the screening centre of the motor park gate, killing herself and four others, including a pregnant woman and a baby. The other explosive went off at about the same time with the first one at Pompomari, when a suspected male suicide bomber, sensing he will be apprehended, ran into a nearby bush and the explosive went off, killing him alone,” he said.

The National Judicial Council has issued a query over allegation of amorous scandal against a judge in the Osun State judiciary, Justice Olamide Oloyede, who initiated a petition calling for the removal of the state Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola.

The NJC issued the query dated July 28, 2015 and with reference number, NJC/S.29 HC.OS/16/1/55,
against Justice Oloyede upon a petition by a mother of four, Mrs. Emily Richard-Obire, who accused the judge of cohabiting with her (Richard-Obire’s) husband.

Thugs Beat Mother, Smash Baby Against The Floor

Some thugs have allegedly beaten up a woman, who was identified simply as Beatrice, and smashed her two-year-old baby against the floor, killing the toddler.

It was gathered that the incident occurred at the Bajare Camp in the Idanre Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Witnesses told our correspondent that the thugs attacked Beatrice on the instruction of a middle-aged woman, identified simply as Toyin, following a disagreement between the women.

Protesting Lawyers Disrupt NBA Session Over Amaechi!

Members of the Port-Harcourt branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), on Monday disrupted a session of the law body’s annual conference over an invitation extended to former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Ameachi to address them.
The placard-carrying protesters opposed Ameachi’s presence on the ground that Amaechi’s government shut courts in the state for one year during his tenure.

The protest degenerated into brawl when Ameachi, who was the co-chairman of the session, wanted to speak and another group of lawyers challenged the protesters.

Toddler Dies After Eating Poisoned Rice (pictures Of Suspects)


There was confusion in the Ijora Badia area of Lagos State when a two-year-old boy, Ibrahim, died after eating a plate of rice suspected to have been poisoned.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the food was prepared by his mother, Fatimoh Azeez.

Fatimoh, however, said the food was eaten by other members of her family who were not hurt, adding that she suspected that one of her sisters-in-law, Fatimoh Rasaki, who had visited her on the day of the incident, had a hand in the death of the child.

Panel To Probe Amaechi Begins Sitting In Port Harcourt

The probe panel set-up to investigate the immediate past administration of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi has said it is not out to witch-hunt anyone.

Chairman of the committee, Justice George Omereji said this during his inaugural address to declare the sitting open.

Justice Omereji said the commission would give room for fair hearing to all parties, adding that all parties had the liberty to contract the services of any legal representative of their choice.

MTN Scraps Early Debt Payment Amid Currency Shortage

MTN Group Limited has abandoned plans to repay early, about $500 million of debt held in Nigeria, saying it can’t get hold of dollars in the African wireless carrier’s biggest market.

“We had looked to do the early resettlement but currently we are not able to,” Nik Kershaw, Head of Investor Relations, told Bloomberg on phone monday.

Suicide Bomber Hits Damaturu, Five Killed

Reports reaching DAILY POST has it that a suicide bomber struck at a busy area in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital this morning. At least five people were killed from the explosion with more than 20 others injured. Director of Media and Publicity to Yobe State Governor, Abdullahi Bego, confirmed that the dead have been evacuated to the mortuary while the injured victims are currently being attended to by health and emergency workers.
