Meanwhile, a middle-aged man who reportedly went to visit his female friend at Agidaese Street, in Ogwashi-Uku Community of the state was said to have died on Friday. The man, according to sources, slumped in his girlfriend’s room after a marathon sexual intercourse and died on the spot. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Celestina Kalu, confirmed that the woman had been arrested by police in Ogwashi-Uku while the body of the victim had been deposited in the mortuary for autopsy.

Hoteliers Beg Aregbesola To Pay His Debts

Some hoteliers operating in Osun State have asked Governor Rauf Aregbesola to defray bills incurred by guests of the state government who lodged in their facilities.
The hoteliers said this in a statement made available to our correspondent in Osogbo on Saturday by their spokesperson, Babatunde Karim.

Police Arrest Oshiomole's Driver

Security operatives attached to the Edo state government arrested one of the drivers in the convoy of Governor Adams Oshiomhole. Leadership reports that the driver was apprehended on Friday, September 25, over his alleged attempts to break into the account section of Edo state government house. It was learnt that on Wedenesday evening there was large lodgement of cash, which was probably meant to offset some expenses towards the Sallah festival.

Boko Haram Attacks Kogi DSS Office, Frees 30 Suspects


No fewer than 30 people detained at the Kogi State office of the Directorate of State Service were freed on Friday night when it was attacked by gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram sect.

This was as four people, including an anti-riot policeman, were reportedly killed in the attack by the invading insurgents.

The attackers were said to have immediately made for the cell of the DSS office located along Hassan Katsina Road, Lokoja, and released all suspects kept there after gaining entrance.

A Facebook companion of mind who is a military man & who is right now battling the boko haram guerillas in the north east part of Nigeria imparted this photograph to me. As indicated by him, he said that the boko haram member was the most grounded among the gathering, that the man opposed passing, yet the military over powered him and remove his head.

Sokoto Chief Imam Killed In Hajj Stampede


The Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency has disclosed that Sheikh Liman Dan-Ata, the Chief Imam of the Sultan Abubakar III Juma’at Mosque, Sokoto, was among those killed in the stampede in Mina, Saudi Arabia where over 700 lives was lost.  This was disclosed in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday by the Media Assistant to the agency Alhaji Farouk Umar.
According to NAN, the state government had in a statement issued on Saturday by Imam Imam, spokesman to Gov. Aminu Tambuwal, confirmed the killing of nine other pilgrims from the state in the Mina stampede. The agency also confirmed the killing of the immediate Caretaker Chairman of Illela Local Government Area of the state, Alhaji Bello Gidan-Hamma, his mother, step-mother and two wives in the stampede.

NNPC may sell refineries that don’t meet ultimatum on rehabilitation – GMD

The Group Managing Director of NNPC, Ibe Kachiukwu says there are plans by the oil corporation to sell off refineries that do not meet up the deadline for their rehabilitation. Kachiuwku made the disclosure while speaking to newsmen in Lagos recently "By the end of December when the 90-day ultimatum will expire, any refinery that does not work optimally will be sold. I am determined to make a difference during my tenure.

A trader, Esther Bello, has been arrested by the Lagos state Police for allegedly abusing her 13-year-old househelp, Titi, in Obanikoro, Lagos. According to Punch Metro, Policemen from the Pedro station were called by neighbours after Titi ran out of her madam's house with a bleeding hand that had been cut deep in 3 places. She explained that her madam, Esther had caused the injuries and threatened to kill her if she raised any alarm..

A 13-year-old primary school pupil has been confirmed dead, while 20 others are battling for life in different hospitals in Enugu-Ezike in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State, after eating  at a traditional marriage ceremony last weekend.

Trouble started after the traditional marriage of Obiageli (surname witheld) when her in-laws departed to their hometown, Nrobo in Nsukka Council area. About 30 people, who ate the soup prepared for the entertainment of guests, were said to have started complaining of serious stomach upset.

Saudis Blame Pilgrims for Their Own Deaths in Hajj Stampede


Saudi Arabia on Friday suggested that pilgrims who ignored crowd control rules were responsible for causing a stampede that killed more than 700 people at the annual Hajj pilgrimage.

Millions of Muslims from around the world have traveled to Saudi Arabia for the Hajj, a pilgrimage that all able Muslims must make at some point in their lifetime.


The stampede took place when two large groups of pilgrims collided at a crossroads in Mina, a few miles east of Mecca, on their way to performing the "Stoning of the Devil" ritual at Jamarat, Reuters reported.

Kidnappers Shoot Man After Collecting N30m Ransom


An Abeokuta-based oil magnate, Mr Akeem Lawal, 36, was kidnapped and shot after the kidnappers were paid N30 million as ransom.
The incident happened while he was on his way to his home after the day’s business.

The Ayetoro-born Lawal, who owns Alak Vision Filling Station in Abeokuta North local government area of the state, was reported to have been abducted by a four-man gang of kidnappers around 6:30 pm a few days to his trip to Saudi Arabia for the hajj exercise.

A new born baby with his umbilical cord still attached was found along Dibue road, Ikot Ekpene in Aka Ibom State this afternoon. A lady after delivering this baby, put her in a polythene bag and dumped her by the road side. An eye witness said that he saw a lady in that area this afternoon but didn’t know what she’d left behind until she’d gone. The baby was already dead before people noticed what was in the bag.

fake lawyer, Olawale Falola, who claimed to be a dropout of a university in Osun State was arrested by the Oyo State Police Command during a stop-and-search in Ibadan recently.

It was gathered that after seeing a sticker belonging to the Nigeria Bar Association on his windscreen, the police asked him about his identity, but he couldnt defend his ‘Lawyer’ status.

Fulani Herdsmen Working For Boko Haram – Falae

The former Secretary to Government of the Federation, Olu Falae, has revealed that six Fulani herdsmen kidnapped him on Monday and made him trek 30km from Ilado where he was taken, to Owo.

He also said he was made to sleep in the bush for three days as the kidnappers changed their locations every four hours.
President Muhammadu Buhari had on Wednesday directed the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, to ensure the rescue of the former minister.

Army Alleges Sabotage By Borno Leaders

The Nigerian Army on Friday raised alarm over plans by “some highly-placed individuals” in the North East, particularly Borno State, to sabotage military operations in the region.

A statement by the army spokesman, Sani Usman, said the elite were bent on having the activities of the Boko Haram terrorists prolonged for their selfish interests.

Mr. Usman, a colonel, did not however state in clear terms the means through which the notable individuals were undermining the war against terrorism or how they would benefit from the insurgency when prolonged.

“The Nigerian Army wishes to inform the public and send a very strong and serious final warning to some prominent individuals and political groups who hailed from Borno State in particular and North East generally, that there is information of plans by some highly placed individuals and political groups to undermine and scuttle the fight against terrorism and insurgency in this country.
